Hello all,

This is my first [I think] Roleplay/stories and I hope you all like it

I do not class myself as very good at all so please be kind, but any advice is welcome.

Professor Aelo Lionheart,

Division: Energy research and advanced field science – Arachnos

Subject – PSU Nova

Status - Classified

Journal Entry 106 – January 27th 2006:

Following on from the brief explanation of Journal entry 105:

PSU Nova is an advanced Prototype Unit. “PSU Nova” is the name I gave it as it stands for “Prototype Stalker Unit Nova” the android stands 4ft 3inches tall, the reasoning behind its Nova Name is the magnificent energy signature that powers the unit and thus makes it possible to carry out orders based on input fed through its processing unit. The A.I (Artificial Intelligence) was developed and programmed by non-other than me, it is to process information from a number of sources such as (but not limited to the following):

• Surrounding
• Enemy Weaknesses
• Mission briefing

This is to help the unit fulfill its mission objective to the best of its ability.

The unit, which power supply is pure energy was taken from observations and past teaching of the infamous “Blappers of Paragon”, These formidable opponents are extremely dangerous at close range due to there ability to cover there hands in pure energy producing a punch so powerful it could knockout most opponents. However, leaving the Blappers open to harm due to they are always in Melee combat. This came at a terrible cost to most Blappers as they were unable to stay hidden long enough to pull off such a powerful strike, thus the Blappers were very easy to deal with (Weak at heart, Strong at arm). Therefore, I came up with an idea by creating a unit using the same energy signature as these infamous “Blappers of Paragon” but in a machine that was able to stay hidden until deemed necessary, to get the job done as quickly as possible.

The Unit has a cloaking device that can make it invisible, this cloaking device is able to bend light around the unit, which can make it disappear in plain view of its targets, but unfortunately, I still have not mastered this invention yet. Therefore, the cloaking device and unit needs to be in an inactive state for approximately ten seconds before the device can activate and make the unit once again undetectable.
This is required as the unit is very fragile, but it also has another Trick up its sleeve. It has a unique early warning system built into its A.I., meaning that anything that could damage the unit would be predicted by the it and thus with its superior reflexes could dodge any attempts to harm the fragile exterior.

Built in to the unit is something some like to call an “Assassin’s Strike”.
This strike is a very powerful attack that can be highly effective when the unit is invisible. The Assassin’s Strike is a precise punch that hits either the kidney, Spinal column or any other delicate area (Depending on which way the target is facing), with both hands glowing bright red from the heat and power of the energy flowing through it’s metallic hands, the Hands hold together to produce one. The hydraulic arms pressurize and heated energy pulse from the power supply down the arms into the fists as the arms pull into the unit’s torso. The hydraulics thrust the arms forward, instantly paralyzing the target as Heated Energy flows into it, crippling it instantly.

There is a startling buzz from the door. He stops writing and puts down his pen.
“Damn, why does somebody always call when I am busy, John, John, Dammit boy where are you?”
He starts to move away from his desk towards the control panel on the right side of his study. Looking into the monitor, he sees one Arachnos personnel. Pressing a button and speaking into a microphone.
”Who are you; speak quickly before I have you shot?”

The Dark gloomy figure looks up at the camera.
“Sorry to trouble you, I am Adam, an Arachnos Tech Engineer; we have had reports of your systems malfunctioning. I was given orders by Kalinda to come check this out.”

Looking hard into the monitor, making sure there is no one else with him.
“Malfunctioning, I have had no problems here, my system state is nominal, Are you sure these reports are for my premises. Where is your identification?”

The engineer puts his hand into his pocket pulling out a card and holding it to the camera.
“Ok, Well I hope this is quick, I have plenty of work to get along with, Lord Recluse will not be happy if my progress is slowed.”
Pressing a button on the control panel, the door unlocks and the Engineer gives the door a tug and enters.
“Stay there, I’ll be down in a minute”

Walking out of his study, locking the door behind him, he proceeds down the corridor towards the front door. The passageways are dark with only a slight red light portraying from Arachnos emblems plastered all over the walls. The emblem shines bright red with a design, the emblem looks like an inverted spider without the abdomen. Reaching the door, he sees the Arachnos Engineer waiting patiently.
“What do you need, let’s keep this short and sweet shall we?”

“Getting straight to the point, I like that. Well what I need is access to your control panel to run some tests,” Adam says while looking around the entrance.

“Follow me and I will show you to where the power control panel is kept, keep up and no wondering” He starts to walk away as the Arachnos Engineer Follows.

After reaching the main control panel, the Scientist leaves the engineer to do his work.
”Put and keep this earphone in and then when you have finished, contact me on it, understand? I have a lot of work to get on with, so I trust you here by yourself.”

“Yes Sir, this should not take me long” Adam responds.

Walking back up the dark corridors he reaches his Study, pressing in a combination and putting his eye to a retinal scanner, you can hear a slight bleep as the light on the retinal scanner turns green and gains entrance. Aelo sits down at his desk and starts to write. After ten or so minutes he hears a sound coming from his earpiece, he looks around to see that it is still on his desk. Picking it up and inserting it into his ear.

”Hello Sir, I have finished the maintenance, everything should be fine now” as the voice crackles on the other end of the receptor.

“Good, can you find your own way out or do I have to show you?” replies Aelo

“No thanks, I can find my own way, all these bases are built the same anyway,” Adam explains.

“Leave the earpiece by the door on that shelf as you exit my premises, oh and tell Kalinda to get in contact with me, I want answers of why I was so rudely interrupted with hardly any explanation.” Aelo replies in anger

“I will let her know that Aelo” replies the Arachnos Engineer.

After hearing a slight Bleep on the control panel at the right side of his study, signaling that the Arachnos engineer has left the building. He puts his head back down into his journal and gets back to writing.

I have found two fatal errors with my design of PSU Nova. They are but simple things, but...So critical. The first one was when he started to get smarter. I created such a beautiful masterpiece, an A.I. so magnificent and intelligent that it was unbelievable, I created him too intelligent, it stopped taking orders from me, it stopped listening to me, taking its own initiative. The second was…I forgot (I cannot believe I forgot such a critical part, I just thought I had everything sorted out).

Aelo sighs and carries on writing.

I forgot to install PSU Nova with a kill switch, a mechanism that could cripple the unit if it went rogue…for situations such as this. Nevertheless, forgetting such a critical part and making the A.I. too intelligent, I have paid the ultimate price. It is beyond my control and it listens to no one. It left this morning around 6am; my sensory probes detected this and logged it going through the front door. I wonder where it will go, what it will do. I wonder what it is planning, it is driving me insane, and why would my own creation betray me, why would it leave after I spent years making him. Designing him, sweat, blood and tears were all shed for the perfect design, I created it, I created this Perfect design and at what cost, for forgetting a little switch which would keep the unit under Control! It did not even say a thing, not a word, did not even leave a message…anything, just got up and left.

I did do something right though, I programmed a special energy signature into him, an energy signature that only I know. That I have programmed into my alarm systems. So even if it does come back, even in full hiding, his energy signature is still present, my alarm systems can still pick it up. I know its weakness, I built it, I know it better then it knows itself. For everyone else that does not know it, will not even see it coming.

Later on that evening, Aelo hears slight movements down the corridor.

“Ah finally, John where have you been, I have been waiting for you all day.” Not taking his eyes off his journal, no answer comes.

“John, Are you drunk again, what have I told you about that on a weekday” He waits but still no answer. Taking his head out of his journal, turning around there is nobody there. Looking surprised and suspicious he stands up and walks over to his study door that is still closed. Opening the door and looking down the corridor, he sees nothing, walking over to his control panel over the right side of his room looking into the monitor and checking his alarm system.

“Everything seems normal. No suspicious sounds or movements detected. Must have just been a rat or something. These bases might have been built for secrecy and defense but they sure weren’t built for cleanliness”

Moving back over towards his study door that is still open, he takes one more glance out of it, then closes it.
He sits back down on gets his head back into his journal. There is but silence in the study, not a sound of a clock, wind or rain, just the noise of a pen writing to paper. It is an uncomfortable silence for the professor, usually there is sound of John walking around, keeping the place tidy, clean and watching for anything suspicious. Out of the silence comes a frightening low, voice.

“Did you ever believe that your life was but a dream Aelo Lionheart?”

Eyes shooting open, he jumps out of his chair onto his feet. Pausing while looking around, seeing nothing, but still hearing that frightening voice.

“PSU Nova, What are you doing?” Aelo’s voice trembles, his eyes dilate and his palms become sticky.

“Well that dream has ended, welcome to your nightmare...” this voice is menacing, frightening and cold as it comes from nowhere…Unexpected and most definitely unwelcome.

Aelo stands there looking around, but not a sound to be heard but voices, not a thing to see but his journal, a control panel and a giant mess of books, diagrams but no PSU Nova…

“Where Are You?” Aelo Screams Loudly, his voice trembling, his body shaking, the feeling of butterflies in his stomach begin to stir

Out of the shadow a faint red light appears. Aelo focuses on this immediately knowing what it is, his eyes fill with dread, terror and pure fear as the light gets brighter, it is PSU Nova.
The infamous Assassin’s Strike, PSU Nova’s signature move, the same move that took the Professor years to design and perfect. Aelo watches on in horror as it glows brighter and PSU Nova’s hydraulic arms thrust into the professor’s Sternum, hearing a slight crack as it shatters and splinters into his internal organs, piercing his heart and instantly paralyzing him. Standing around dazed but still on his feet, PSU Nova placates his opponent, slipping back into the shadows and moves around his opponent. Pulling back his right arm, it glows red with heated energy, thrusting that arm out deep into Aelo’s Spinal column, hearing a faint snap, Aelo drops to the floor.

Aelo looks up at his nemesis with bleeding eyes of terror and discomfort
“Nova…how…did…you…get…past…my…defenses,” Aelo’s words gurgle as he tries to speak through the blood in his mouth, looking deep into PSU Nova’s Critix mask.

That horrible demon like mask that covers his head, just looks down on Aelo, saying nothing, just smirking.

Aelo Lionheart’s head falls to the floor. He becomes limp, lifeless.

“So…it is done,” PSU Nova says calmly.

Looking around his room PSU Nova, eyes up his journal, walking over to it and gently picking it up in his metallic right hand, he opens it and starts to read.
“So Professor, by the end it was your own creation that killed you, you were a brilliant scientist, a fantastic programmer…In the end…to brilliant, it was your downfall. I do not know why Kalinda wants this journal; there is nothing of value in it, just the babbling of an old man.” PSU Nova mumbles to himself.

Putting the journal in his backpack, he starts to walk away but stops at the door to the study, turning around it looks at Aelo Lionheart’s limp body. Thinking of what he said about the alarm system, PSU Nova searches through Aelo’s notes and reads about the unique energy signature that existed in his power supply.

“I wonder why it never went off.”

Then PSU Nova remembers an earlier conversation with Kalinda.

“PSU Nova, I want Professor Aelo Lionheart's journal, are you the kind of person that can get it for me.” Kalinda says.

“Why would you want the journal of a old rambling fool, but if that it what you want, I can get it” PSU Nova replies

“What I want it for is irrelevant, I also want him dead. I have sent an Arachnos Engineer over to his premises to disable something that could hinder you. He will be, as always in his study, writing in that journal of his, I want it and you can get it me. I pay very well PSU Nova, if you are willing?” Kalinda says coldly.

“Kalinda, just get my money, I won’t be long” PSU Nova responds.

“So that Engineer was sent on a routine maintenance check and ended up disabling my energy signature from his alarm system…very clever Kalinda, I will give you that…Very Clever,” PSU Nova mutters to himself.

He looks down at the lifeless body of his creator and smirks, he turns and walks away, slowly disappearing into the shadows from where he came…without a sound, without a trace. The door to the study closes silently.

Thats it for now, hope you enjoyed the read and if not, sorry to have wasted your time, have a great day and Happy Valentine!
