If it's free clip art, why did you bother taking 'the trouble to look for copywrites'? I think that's part of the reason your post threw up such a red flag.

Perhaps asking the OP it was clipart or stock images before jumping down his/her throat might have been less drama filled solution.

A lot of avatars on this board "borrow" artwork without asking permission. Looks to me as if s/he wanted to use an image for an avatar because it was a pirate. (Hence the IPirate name. It was talk like a pirate day a few days ago right?)

Sometimes you got turn down the kneejerk reaction. Some people are just looking for a simple answer for something as minor as an avatar.
