Confessions of a Paragon Fan Girl
Dear Diary:
My first day on the job and already I have met some really awesome heroes. I even got up enough courage to ask to join someones team, thought I nearly died when they said yes I was so excited!
It was a bit gross as we were going down to the sewers but my leader said that a lot of bad guys hung around down there because a lot of heroes thought they were too good for the sewers. So it smelt a lot but we did seriously reduce the number of Hellions, Lost and Vahzilok hanging around!
I got the first signings of my autograph book today! Here's what I got:
The Rabid Underdog: (My first signing! He put a tear in the page, but he has sharp claws, he couldn't help it!) Level 5 Mutation Scrapper, Claws/Regeneration
Neo Starwind: Level 5 Natural Scrapper, Martial Arts/Super Reflexes
Major Physics: (First to write a message and my first ever team leader!) Level 4 Technology Controller, Gravity/Kinetics
To Autographia, Keep fighting the good fight, and stay in school! Science rules!!!
He also later said something I'd like to remember:
"I think you need to re-evaluate yourself. You have the makings of a hero in my book."
Tsuran: Level 6 Magic Ice Blast/Ice Manipulation Blaster
Glamorous: Level 6 Natural Storm Summoning/Psychic Blast Defender
Flaming Dessicator (Scorched the page!): Level 6 Mutation Tanker, Fiery Aura/Fiery Melee
"A hero is not defined by powers but by deeds, powers just help them last longer than their first rescue"
"A headache is the body's way of saying 'Ow, my head hurts' "
After doing the sewers and rescuing some people from the Police Band, Flaming Dessicator and I helped David Wincott clean up the Hollows. Somebody needed some help with a tough guy called Frostfire so a band of us got together and I bubbled them all!
Some more people signed my book:
Avatar of Nature: Level 12 Magic Controller, Fire Control/Storm Summoning.
To Autographia, with love. Kick evil butt!!
Radical Jill: Level 9 Mutation Defender, Empathy/Radiation Blast
Towers: Level 9 Mutation Scrapper, Dark Melee/Super Reflexed (Scribbly but readable writing. Very stong sounding name, I am glad this is in my book)
Belafor: Level 10 Techology Controller, Gravity Control/Storm Summoning
Ocrathius: Level 9 Mutation Controller Ice Control/Storm Summoning (Very careful writing from him, I love his name!)
Energy Rush: Level 10 Energy Blast/Energy Manipulation Blaster (Signed E-Rush. First scarfed hero to sign. Frostfire's lair was cold, that was a smart move)
Angel Lyte: Level 10 Mutation Controller, Earth Control/Storm Summoning. She's a Messenger of the Gods! How cool!
Five Storm Summoners so far! Epsilon Centauri would be pleased. I'll have to get her to sign next time I see her.
Today I found ROCKET BOOTS! Wow, that was so exciting because I have never been able to afford stuff before and now I can! I didn't want them but someone told me about Wentworths and now someone who did want them is happy!
Another exciting thing happened today - I had a really powerful hero sign my autograph book. He was level 50! He was so amazing.
These are the hero signatures I collected today! No one I teamed with, just cool people I saw around the city.
[u]SincereAgape[u] Level 50 Magic Blaster, Archery/Energy Manipulation. My first level 50 Hero!

Since she received her fist action figure for her 2nd birthday, Meike Gleeson has been addicted to superheroes. Her mother could get her to wear nothing but hero costumes and she would read only books about the history of heroes.
Naturally when she entered University she majored in Heroic Studies, coming top of her class. She took this alongside Applied Science and Technology.
Feeling it was difficult to write a thesis on heroes without properly experiencing the thrill of a rescue; as well as wanting to meet a real live one; Meike went about getting herself kidnapped. This isn't quite as easy as one may think, even in Paragon city! Plenty of people get mugged, but Meike wanted a complete rescue. She needed a reason for someone, anyone, to whisk her away.
So, she invented a Super Psionical Destabilzing Gyrator. Well, she pretended she did anyway. That sounded like something she had overhead on a Police Band radio. She told the Paragon Times so all the villain groups in the city would know about it. It was very powerful but incredibly difficult to operate, and of course, she was the only one who knew how to do it.
Lo and behold, the day after the newspaper ran the story, Meike and her fake super machine disappeared. It was all over the police band radios. Save the girl, and get that machine out of the enemy's hands. The enemy in this case were the Freakshow. A vigilant alien listening to the Police Band radio dashed to the rescue. Meike recognised her the moment she saw her. It was only a quick glimpse when Epsilon Centauri briefly showed herself to confirm to Meike a hero was close by.
Seconds later Meike was treated to a display of powers she couldn't have imagined. Ghostly figures appeared from nowhere as a hurricane which seemed to be moving of it's own accord rushed towards the Freaks surrounding her. Rain fell from the sky and gusts of wind kept them on their backs. Meike watched in awe and these forces flew around, but never once scratched her.
After the cacophony had died down, Epsilon Centauri appeared in front of her. "Follow me dear, we'll have you out in no time"
As they approached the door Meike begged to see a display of her powers one more time. Seeing no harm in it, Epsilon obliged and gave a mighty display of Illusions and Storm Summoning. As Meike watched, it hit her how selfless these heroes really were. She had always known they were amazing and powerful, but being rescued herself made her realise that it was not only their powers that made them this way, it was the person, (human or otherwise) wielding them. Epsilon had saved her life and was now giving her the light show of a life time, and what was she getting out of it? Epsilon had in fact, risked her own safety when Meike had gone out of her way to get into trouble.
She was ashamed of putting such a selfless alien in danger and tears started rolling down her cheeks. Stopping what she was doing, Epsilon asked what was wrong. In a choked voice and staring intently at her shoes, Meike meekly explained what had happened and apologised profusely for what she had done. When she looked up, she did not see anger, as she had expected, but saw Epsilon smiling.
"We are not always saving people from the villains around Paragon, Meike. Sometimes people need to be rescued from their own bad decisions."
And with a quick hug, Epsilon was had vanished, leaving Meike with a lot to think about.
That night, as she lay in bed going over her experience, she wondered what she could do with her life that would make the impact heroes lives did. She was no hero; she had no superpowers at all. What did she have?
She sat up like a bolt of electricity had hit her. Technology. Wasn't she top of her class? She hadn't even started on her thesis for Applied Technology and Science and she now had the perfect thing to write it on. She would create a device to assist heroes. In her vast reading on the matter, she had learned that heroes can not do everything on their own. Sometimes they need assistance. She would be that person and assist whoever she could. Sleep forgotten she ran over the University, which thankfully allowed after hours access; and got to work.
Over the next eleven months she kept a log of everything she did. Many things were tried and failed, and it took at least a month to work out exactly what it was she was trying to do. However, at beginning of the 12th month, she presented her thesis on "The Care and Protection of the Heroes of Paragon City, within the limits of Proactive and Reactive Applied Science and Technology" - the final step in obtaining her Masters Degree. The presentation and demonstration of the creation and application of Forcefields and Nanotechnoligal healing went down a "storm" and she almost lost track of herself on stage when she caught a glimpse of the hero that started her on this path.
Her power resources were currently limited but she was doing the research to expand them. Eager to start, she headed to Atlas Park, where she knew all the new heroes liked to hang out with Miss Liberty, and started giving out "bubbles" (the hero lingo for Forcefields.) She had not been going long when a PPD cop approached her and asked for her hero license.
"Oh, I am not a hero, I just like protecting them"
"But you have superpowers, you can't use them without registering"
"..."
The PPD cop took her to the Hero Register who was to explain it all and get her started. Meike reluctantly started filling in the form, but had to stop when she got to the question: Secondary Powerset.
"What is a Secondary Powerset please Miss?"
"Powers that you use in addition to your main powers, which I see are Force Fields"
"I have a device that does a small amount of Nanotech healing, is that a Secondary Powerset?"
"I'm afraid not honey, and I can not register you as a hero with only one power"
"But, the policeman said I can't use my Force Fields unless I am a registered hero!"
"He is right. I am sorry hun, but they are the rules, as silly as they may seem"
It was a dejected figure that walked out of building that day. She had spent so long developing her device and now it was effectively useless. As the days passed into weeks, she slowly lost the seemingly boundless enthusiasm she once had for her project.
Months later, walking through Atlas Park, Meike smacked into...something. She thought she did, but there was nothing there. Shaking herself, she continued walking, and did it again! Then she heard a soft chuckle and in front of her appeared a familiar face.
"And where have you been?" Epsilon asked "I was expecting to see all the new heroes bubbled up around Atlas Park, but I have not seen you at all"
"My Fields are useless, I can't use them because that's ALL I can do."
"Are you a technology guru or a kid who plays with science sets? Don't let all that work go to waste, if you need a secondary power, go and make it!"
And with that, she was gone again.
"She's right" mumbled Meike. She muttered and grumbled at herself as she trundled her way back to the university. Seeing Epsilon again had sparked the passion of being the protector of the Protectors that had inspired her to create the forcefield technology in the first place.
In a matter of weeks Meike returned to fill in the hero registration papers
Primary Powerset: Forcefields
Secondary Powerset: Energy Blast
Hero ID: Autographia
Armed with her Autograph book, like any good Fan Girl, she set out to protect the Protectors of her beloved city.
