Jacob Richmond was nervous beyond belief. He had everything he had ever wanted: a job at the Longbow Scientific Research Building, a loving and gentle family, a wife and a couple of kids, and to top it all, a good paycheck to support them. What his fellow Longbow scientists had not told him of was the incident that happened before his arrival.

A scientist by the name of Samuel Ross (who was, indeed, a brilliant man, as he had designed costumes for superheros of Paragon City, alongside many other designers) was laid off from work just a year ago. Approximately eleven months later, he came back in a robotic supersuit he had designed for himself, and leveled the entire Longbow Technical Research Building (which was right next door of the Scientific building, where Jake worked.) Though he was defeated by Positron, arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced to the Zig for 99 years, Sam, whose Super Villain identity became known as the Metal Hazard, vowed his revenge upon not only Longbow, but all Super Heroes, and of society as a whole, for what happened to him.

Now, Jake was not a superstitious person, but he did sense a certain...taboo, he guessed, about working here. He was honored, yet he was frightened. Even though this certain building was not damaged, it was still one close to his, and he thought: 'If it could happen there, why couldn't it here? Since then, the building was rebuilt, but it still could not hide what had happened.' All of his co-workers thought it was just the fact that he was the new guy, and it was usual to be nervous on the first day of the job, especially one this important.

Jacob's job was to research the different chemicals that were discovered so that it could be turned into either a helpful agent or a weapon for the Longbow company. This could be either a stimulant for an agent to become superpowered, or a weapon that could melt the skin off of bones, or anything that could help them in their quest to rid Paragon City of evil. The process was vaguely explained to him when he first decided to take on the job offer, but he just figured he'd learn more about it when he actually started doing the work assigned to him.

Suddenly, there was a loud explosion in the next room. Having just thought about his life being in danger, he jumped out of his seat and screamed involuntarily. His heart filled with fear as quickly as air fills a balloon. However, his fears were unfounded, as he heard a scientist exclaim after the explosion: "Dammit, Henry! I said the glucose, not the sucrose!! Learn to listen!" He was extremely relieved now, and his confidence returned.

All this excitement had made him hungry. The clock overhead the laboratory door read "12:02", so he figured he'd take his lunch break. On his way to the mess hall, he heard a person say: "Hey, new guy...Jake! Can I speak to you for a minute?" The voice he heard was an unfamiliar one, and he wondered why the man wanted to talk to him. He slowly, but steadily, walked toward him...

[Jacob Richmond, 5'11" tall, 160 pounds. He fits the perfect description of a geek or scientific figure. He is scrawny physically, but mentally he has almost no equal, as proven by his studies at Oxford University and his various degrees in scientific subjects.]
