Hiya folks, I already posted this on my server's forums, but mayhaps it is a tad applicable here as well. I just wanted to pass some art by you for some critique. If ya don't like it keep it civil. Otherwise say whatcha think!

I find your gallery kind of... meta-confusing I guess.

Your work makes for a cool first impression. Looking over more of the gallery though... there's a *lot* of repetition there. There seems to be just 3 poses: standing mannequin facing straight on, ballet stance 3/4-to-the-side chin down, and floating symmetric with legs fully extended and pointed. If there are wings the wings are almost always the same shape.

But then, there are a couple of pieces that are totally not in this pattern at all... 'Deal With The Dragon' and 'Crushed Tin'... They almost end up being the most interesting because they're so distinct from the rest.

Overall I'm getting myself confused trying to figure out how to enjoy your work. It's definitely cool, but almost stale. Maybe you could try challenging yourself with pulling in more dynamic elements into your poses and settings?

I'm glad you bring this up goldbricker. Truth be told, I totally agree with you. The main problem is that I have very very little time for my art work. The stuff I posted is the accumulated work of six to eight years (basically whatever I whimsically decided to scan eventually made some on-line gallery or another). Furthermore, except for the two you mentioned all were originally intended as quick concept sketches; if any further work was done it was likewise on a whim.

Even though I personally like to make my art symetrical and iconic, I find my sketches repetitive also. There's no real moral to this story just yet, but I am finding more time to work on art and I hope as a result I can do things much more interesting than simple concept sketches.

To those who do purely nothing but concept sketches I'm not belittling your art! Afterall, I must like doing that very thing enough to show it off to random strangers on the internet
