There was a world where good did not always win. Sure, the bag guys win sometimes in the real world, but think of a reality where everything went so wrong, that the good ALWAYS lost to the bad? In truth, there are several realities like this. This, is the tale, of one of those realities...
Chapter One: The Power of the Void.
There was a universe. Well not an entire one. More accurately, all of existance had been obliterated. Save for one planet, floating in the nothingness. Most of the planet was gone to. Consumed by the ever growing nothingness. There was only one city left, and that was quickly fading away.
Cowering in the Temple of Salvation, the creature called to the Gods to help. "Please. I am the only one left. All is gone. Soon all will be nothing. I beseach you, save me. Spare me from this unstoppable force."
Outside the temple, the ground was slowly vanishing into nothingness. Soon all of existance would be consumed. The creature in the temple spoke faster.
"All mighty powers who govern all of the Multi-Universe, hear me, answer my call, save your servant! Help me! Save me!
The creature looked upon the alter in front of it. Monoliths of various colored gods, with finery and offerings about them. The gods moved about in their monoliths, and some of them looked at the creature with amused looks, before turning away.
The end of reality started to eat away the temple stairs.
"I call to you. I pray to you. I worship you. Rescue me from oblivion. I am the only one left. Do not condemn me to this horrid fate."
One of the gods in the monoliths finally paused. He turned to face the creature from his stone image, and spoke...
"We, the gods, have abandoned you. We condemn you to your fate. For with it, the various powers will use your sacrifice to seal the eternal doom within your reality. It will be trapped. We will not save you."
The god turned, and his visage on the monoliths vanished.
The creature rose, and screamed, a horrible scream which would have shaken the heavens, if they had existed anymore. He rushed to the alter, picked of the various monoliths and chucked them into the nothingness, which had reached halfway up the temple stairs.
He then sat, and waited to be obliterated.
"Do you wish to be saved?" Whispered a voice in his head.
"This is a joke. I cannot be saved now." The creature thought. He stared at the nothingness as it ascended the temple steps.
"Ah, but yes you can. For I am a god who needs your help. My last follower is about to expire. Without belief, we gods have no power. If you stake your faith in my power, I will save you. I will grant you more power then you can imangine. You will see entire worlds bow before your might. All you have to do is set your faith in me, the god of the Void."
The creature sat in silence. Could this be true?
"I cannot be saved. For this nightmare is more powerful than any single god. You cannot save me." Thought the creature.
The nothingness had finally reached the top of the staircase. The interior of the temple started to fade away, as though it had never existed.
"CONFOUND IT! I OFFER YOU SALVATION AND YOU TURN YOUR BACK ON ME? HEAR ME!" The voice ripped thrugh his mind, demanding his attention.
"Are you so blind that you would abandon all hope immediatly in the face of this peril? You have nothing to lose and everything to gain! Now consider my offer! Be saved, or face the infinite power of the Catastrophe which is consuming your reality!"
The creature stared as the nothingness crept closer.
"I would do anything. To be saved. Save me, and I am yours."
It thought.
The nothingness now fully surrounded the creature. It closed in.
"You are saved." Said the god of the Void. Like that, the creature vanished.
Right before the nothingness consumed all the last traces of the reality, it thought...
"And so I may continue to consume. I have saved my last follower from myself. I have saved him from the Power of the Void. I am the mightiest of everything and nothing. Yet even I am powerless without belief. So I have saved this lone creature. To beleive in me. So I may consume. Forever, I will slowly consume until there is nothing left.
But me.
And him.
Then he shall be gone. Along with him, I will also depart.
What will be left over? There will not be something, for I will have consumed it.
There will not be nothing, for that is what I am.
It matters not. That time has not yet come. I can see the moment in which it will happen, and it is far off...Down the streams of time...I can see it happening clearly...The end of all that is. I cannot see beyond it. I could travel there, but I am not sure of what would happen.
Out in another Universe...
Another Dimension...
Another Reality...
