But, to answer your question, on the CoV side of things, Masterminds and Brutes are generally considered the best soloing class in the game. Masterminds can be their own little team, and Brutes can SMASH! their way through just about anything.
As to pinging each server, roll a random character on each server. When you get into the Outbreak section (the first one), type "/netgraph 1" and check out your ping. I don't know if any server will be better for you than others, but it will give you a sense of what each server's ping is during various times (turn it off with "/netgraph 0").

Hello to everyone, Im attempting to start up CoV but I am trying to make some educated decisions before launching myself into the game world, so I figured ide ask you guys
1. Is there a way to test my ping to a server before joining, one thing i hate is putting work into a character and then realising my ping is too high to play during peak hours. I would like to pick an ideal server for my area/location (southern california)
2. What is a good solo class? Ive been looking at masterminds b/c of their pets, but should i just go brute? Maybe i overlooked the potential of one of the other classes all together.
