Emp/Psy Defender build, post ED.

well, this is my first attempt, so don't hate me.
This build/ideas are coming from my experience as a lvl 50 empath (Tusolas).

First off, there aren't many of these, so this is one of the few, and not like the others (in build).

I don't remember what order I picked the powers in, but really that's your choice, use your brain!

Some info before I continue, My style of gameplay. you know those health bars stacked up nicely on your screen of your whole team? I watch that, only sometimes really paying attention to the actual fighting when it looks like healing won't be necessary for that enemy group. I have each team slot assigned to my keypad so if it is laggy, keyboard commands go through faster than mouse commands and the "F" key will take you right to the baby tank for whatever he needs. you may ask "why?"...because heal = your teams health, not your enemies. looking at your teammates' actual toon to see if they need help is a lot less efficient and much slower than simply looking at a stack of health bars.

As far as RA goes, I say it once, give about 5-10 seconds, and cast, some people give count downs, some people wait until everyone is there first, I don't. if they don't pay attention and see me saying I'm gonna cast RA, then they don't want it. maybe hard on me, but really, it's mainly the blasters that don't want it, and they need it, so they should be feeling the loss.

anyways, here's my first 50 build. (I list Pre ED because it's still a very good build, except for the attack powers, there's really nothing to change imho).

Tusolas Pre ED (details after).
emp (all are must haves except for regen aura) =
Heal Aura - 6 slotted, 4 Heals, 1 Recharge, 1 Golgi.
Heal Other - 6 slotted, 4 Heals, 1 Recharge, 1 Golgi
Resurrect - 4 slotted, 3 recharge, 1 end red.
Fortitude - 6 slotted, 3 Cytos (to-hit/def buff, end red), 3 Membranes ( to-hit/def buff, recharge).
Recovery Aura - 6 slotted, 6 Recharges.
Clear Mind - 1 slotted, 1 recharge
Absorb Pain - 6 slotted, 5 Heals, 1 recharge
Adrenalin Boost - 6 slotted, 6 Recharges.

Psychic Blast =
Mental Blast - 1 slotted, 1 damage
Psionic Lance - 2 slotted, 1 Centriole (Dam/Range), 1 accuracy.
Telekinetic Blast - 6 slotted, 3 Centriole, 2 Knockbacks, 1 Nucleolus (Dam, Acc)
Will Domination - 4 slotted, 1 Centriole, 1 Endoplasm (Acc/Mez), 2 Peroxisome (Dam/Mez).
Psychic Scream - 3 slotted, 1 nucleolus, 2 Centrioles.

Mass Hypnosis - 1 Endoplasm (Acc/Mez)
Mind Over Body - 6 slotted, 5 resist dam, 1 ribo (resist dam/end red).


This build works very well Post ED as before, heal other does 544 heal points, heal aura does 278.
With Hasten, RA = 3:09 recharge, AB = 1:56 recharge, Fort = 0:32 recharge.
I picked Psychic Mastery due to Mind over body, cause psionic def. is good to have for some AV areas, and as usually the sole healer, you kinda need to stay alive while the others are getting [censored] by psionics.

Overall, a great build on the emp side, however, the attack side is suffering (though it's not the greatest anyways).

As far as travel powers go, many people pick fly as the power of choice, however, fly is slower, and in-doors can be harder to maneuver. Therefore I chose super speed for quick farther out heals, and TP for fast moving across maps. hurdle is used as a compensation for no jumping abilities, as swift is taken care of by ss, or run.

Emp side is almost the exact same slot wise. (lvl's of the slots are your own choice, I did this in respec mode and it worked out this way, thinking of actually being that lvl, you may want to change it up to whatever you think is best).

I decided to get Mind over Body last, because 3 resist dam. seems to work fine enough and with my slotting, it worked out best as the last one, and the chances of being exemped to 44 would have no real point. therefore the last 3 powers doesn't matter what order their in. Due to the levels of slot gaining, it became tricky since I wanted my 3 main attacks to be 6 slotted, what ended up is with super speed coming in at 30 where before it was my last power, and absorb pain coming in at 44 due to how they gave out slots. the absorb pain with 5 heals is about 1533. Teleport has only 5 slots, one more slot only gives about 4 more feet (not worth it).

Why no Regen aura? easy, it kinda...sucks. it may be decent, but you'd have to 6 slot it, and really, you don't have the slots unless you're going for complete emp with no attack side. even if you went with fly, you'd need to put several slots in that, so slots left over for regen aura are very few. most powers get over looked because of a bad rap but are actually good, regen aura is just bad, you can try it, but make sure you can get another respec.


Yes, I still have hasten, cause it still helps out greatly. other people may not like it now, but it still takes a minute off of RA, 30 seconds off of AB, and about 15 seconds off of fort. and I like fast recharges.

Otherwise, this is my build, the damage from the psionics side with 6 slots is helpful (of course not as good as any of the others), but the emp side is great, with hasten you get recharge rates as everyone else, sometimes faster than theirs now. your heal other will be one of the highest for emps, and your heal aura easily competes with the rest.

That's it, as everything, take with a grain of salt. My build may not work for everyone, as people have different views, if you like the look of this, then go ahead and try it. If not, then adjust it to what you think is best. this mainly goes for the secondary/pool powers side. as far as the emp side goes, just seeing myself against other emps, mine looks overall the best, but who knows, maybe I'm delusional .
