Somehow I knew you would
Ok Jomaro, here's tha deal as I see it. The only reason you're not slavin' away in Marvel or DC's bullpen, is that you do not wish to. Because you certainly have the chops to do so. And enough exposure that they must be aware of you.
That you seem to have chosen to cast your lot with us is just too awsome for words. Rather like discovering a celebrity at the family barbecue.
Ok, enough already with the accolades.
Just know, that even though my wife and I are trying to buy a house, I am literally saving my pocket change toward a 'color duo in environment.' Because Bruthaman & Hot Koko must be immortalized.
I'm only laughing on the outside
My smile is just skin deep
If you could see inside, I'm really crying
You might join me for a weep
My Roster
Your compliments were lovely and meant well...but yeesh
Marvel or DC? He have his earnings cut in half and get a small stipend like a Oliver Twist at the chow line in the orphange just wanting "More Sir"
OR He can continue to be his own boss.
I think Jomaro's talent and creativitiy go beyond the big 2 comic companies. That's almost as bad as saying he should work for Disney (*shudder*...no sorry nothing is *that* bad )
Great pencil work. Excellent piece.
Thanks for the kind words guys! I finished the piece I was doing for the winner of the Archlord Beta contest. Please take a look and let me know what you think

Seriously Jo this piece is off the chain man!!
Absolutely love the detail put into it. very bad [censored] piece brother!! Whoever won the contest really got a sweet prize!!
Great job as always and I think I can see what ya mean by digitally painted now. I still had a hard time seeing the difference in the painting and the regular color as your so good at either one.
Gratz on finishing this one too, I know you had been working hard on it!
Hey Gill, you know how DarkJedi had that NICE post about his artistic process?
Yeah... I think you needa do one of those
That is really SWEET!! I'll take all the compliments everyone else said and Double them! very cool.

It's pretty good. To be honest, I don't like it as much as your traditional comic-style work. One of the things I like most about your inking is the way that you never ever lose track of where the light is (which I often do when inking.) Well, here you seem to have lost track of the light a little. Parts of his armor really flatten out, like the hip pad on his left leg. Just for fun, I saved it and dragged it into Photoshop with one of your more traditional pieces, and desaturated both of them. This Gimmli piece has far less value range than your other work.
Also, and this is a personal preference, because the Fantasy Art genre is filled with successful people who don't do this, but I'd really like to see more interesting color choices. My favorite pieces of yours are when you free up your color sense a little. This one has a lot of "local color" in it: the parts that are orange have dark orange shadows and light orange highlights. Since you're doing a full-on digital painting, I think it would be great if you used your colors more effectively. It might help the flatness if you mixed in some interplay between cool and warm hues and some changes in saturation levels to really make the piece pop.
I hope you take these comments in the spirit in which they are given. I have a tremendous amount of respect for you as an artist, and your work ethic is very inspiring to me. You're one of the backbones of this board. But I think that the new fully painted style isn't at the same level as your traditional comics work, so I wanted to give you some feedback to hopefully help with the fully painted ones in the future.
Can I be a backbone when I start getting critiques from you, PMD?
Anyway, I agree, the orange look of it all makes it seem kinda bland. Still awesome, though.
WoW Gill! That is very detailed. I saw part of that drawing in your WIP and was wondering how to make the costume in CoH..now I know
Paragonian Knights
Justice Company
Great as always
And intersting to see something different (non-CoX)
It may be that the comment does not really apply since it may be the way it is in the game but... The 2 things that caught my eye is the helm and the hands they both look too small. If I try and imagine a head inside of the helm I cannot make it fit. Kinda the same for the hand the fingers are thin but considering that they are inside a metal glove they are deadly thin. Now as I said I do not know the game so this may be an animated armor or somesuch. In wich case all this would be very normal.
Thanks for sharing it with us

Gill, your work is always topnotch. Your the best of the best here! I'm very happy you are part of this community.
What do we think? What do you think we think?
That's a great piece of art, but i have to agree with PMD... But then that may just be how the character is...
Anyway yeah, [echo] awesome! [/echo]

Thanks for the feedback guys! PMD you are exactly right. Getting caught up with all the details in this piece made me lose focus on the lighting. I changed it as much as I could in post production and I do agree is makes it pop much more. Also your right when I do traditional comic style it kinda forces me to focus on lighting a bit more. So again thanks man!
I have something I want to discuss with you about a possible project. Ill shoot you a PM.
Gimmli Update
Oh and here's a game screenshot so you have a better idea of the look of the character: ArchLord Screenshot

SURE! I'd be thrilled to work with you.
Oh, and those fixes really helped a lot!
what game is this from and is it an open beta?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!
The game is called ArchLord by Codemasters. I don't think the Beta is live just yet, but you can sign up for it.
ty much gill hopefully i get in.
Mm hate to say it, but the update loses the pop. The reason for this, after taking archlord into photoshop for a moment to try something, is the lack of cool reds. If you're using warm reds as you have for the shadows it suddenly flattens the piece. Probably what PMD was talking about :3
Gill, feel free to thwap me if you feel this un-needed. Shading reds is a pain in the patoot if you ask me, I always have problems with them in my own paintings.
All you'd really have to do is put a layer on top of the painting in photoshop and add some cools to pop the reds out. Use of Alizeran Crimson for cool reds with a hint of a cool violet is what I used.

Whoa. Sayterra, first let me say thank you for your input. But you can't just take it upon yourself to make your own changes to my work without my permission. I know how to apply advice or changes to art if I choose to, and I did not request anyone to manipulate my work for me. That piece is already complete and it's for a client, so please DO NOT distort it or change it as it meant for someone else. I've stressed this several times since I first began sharing art. Just because I'm posting a piece and asking for feedback does not mean that it's open for anyone else's use, and I certainly DO NOT want others host it elsewhere than the sites that the parties involved have designated. Any changes made to my works should be done by myself only. So I'd appreciate if you please remove it. Again though, thank you for your response.

I love looking at tight pencil work and yours is some of the best. I stare at your pencils and deconstruct the linework, absorbing ideas and inspirations.
Someday, you and I will have to do a collaboration. I'm not sure when, or how... but someday...

I have the perfect piece for just that!
