(( This is for those who have characters that, at one point, where normal people before their life altering experience happened. I would like to try to keep to those who were made into what they were and not born or from other worlds. I was originally going to create this for my own character, since I've been putting together his back story since August 04. So feel free to join at will. And have fun. ))

"Oh god I'm running late again."

These words seemed to be the one thing Jason had been saying lately. He had stepped up his martial arts training to new levels and he has paid for it with his job. His superiors have noticied his lack of energy at work and his tardiness more. He couldn't afford to make mistakes without risk of losing his job. It appeared his life long training may have to take a back seat to that of corporate America. This left a sad look upon his already scruffy looking face. Jason looked out his apartment window.

"Rainy again. Darn. Looks like making up lost time on the communte is going to be more difficult than I thought."

Grabbing his briefcase and his coffee he bolts out the door, tie still undone, face unshaven, and shirt untucked. As he approached his car he saw his reflection in the windows.

"Man I look like a mess. The bosses are not going to be happy with this." he says as he enters his car, "At least I got my morning go juice."

He sips his hot coffee and smiles contently for a brief moment.

"Where would I be without my morning nectur" he thinks to himself as he starts his car and drives away to work.

"Man the rain is really comming down today. I better be careful."

Always the kind of man to hurry through his day to get home to train, his thoughts are fixed on making it to work in one piece. He takes a moment and looks out the window, while waiting for the light to change green, and loses himself in his thoughts. Thoughts of tonights training session, and what may possibly be, the last one for quite a long time. Unaware of the light changing green, the car behind him honks. Startled he slams his foot on the gas pedal and goes to turn.

"No not this way. Kaori, I love...."

Three years have passed since that day. Opening his eyes he sees a white light shinning down on him.

"Am I dead? Is this Heaven?" he mutters softly. Blinking heavily now, to remove three years of slumber, he finally sees clearly. He tries to situp but can't. He looks around to see he is in a hospital room. He opens his mouth but words do not come out. Clearing his throat he tries again.

"Hello? Is anyone there? Can anyone hear me?", he calls out with a worried tone in his voice.

"Mr. Jason, is that you?", the nurse asks as she walks into the room. "Why it is you. My god your awake. The doctors said you would be in your coma the rest of your life."

"Coma....rest of my life..." Jason says as he finally musters the strength to sit up, "What do you mean? Where am I? What city is this?"

"This is Paragon City. You were flown here since we have the most advanced medical technology around. Let me get the doctor. He will explain everything."

The nurse exits the room, as he places his hands on his head.

"What happened? How long was I out.....that day. I remember that day.", he says to himself as he looks up at piecing try to piece together his memory, "But what happened? How am I alive? Why do I feel stronger now than I did that day?" he says aloud

"Good question." The doctor said as he walks into the room. "It's a miracle your a awake, let alone sitting up right. I'm Dr. Evans. I've been taking care of you since arriving in Paragon City three years ago. You might want to lay back down. We have alot to discuss."

Jason lays back down as the doctor pulls up a chair next to him and begins.

"Jason you were in an auto accident three years ago. You slammed head first into a trailer carrying nuclear waste. You flew through your windshield and landed 200 feet away. When you got here to Paragon we had you on life support for 7 months. We have some questions for you. Have you ever been tested for 'Mutant Powers'?", the doctor asked with a serious look on his face.

"Mutant powers...what are you talking about doc?", he said still taking in all the information.

"Yes, mutant powers. You see, we noticied having you on life support was a waste. Your body has under gone changes. And here in Paragon, this is not uncommon so we ran some tests. We discovered you have under gone a genetic mutation. You should be dead but you are not. Apparently, while in your coma, you embraced the darkness. And it has embraced you. We believe it happened right around the time your fiancee came by to say good bye..."

Before the doctor continued Jason looked at him.

"Kaori....good by....what do you mean?", he asked with a puzzled look on his face.

"Yes, good bye. She was under the same impression we were. You would be out forever. There's more. Jason....I don't know how to put this, but she is......I am so sorry. It happened when she left the hospital. You see our city is......"

At this point he stopped listening to the doctor and started crying. Tears uncontrollably streamed from his face. Kaori, beautiful Kaori, was gone from his life. Looking at the doctor, he asked, "Who...who did this to her?"

"Paragon City is different from other cities. Crime runs rampant here. But unlike other cities we have major criminal minds. She was killed in a 5th Column ambush. She was caught in the cross fire between the 5th and our 'Heroes'. I am so sorry."

Jason saddened requested to be alone at this point. He closed his eyes and felt the darkness grow in him more. He felt it embrace him, comfort him and call to him. He suddenly felt a cloudy substance surround him.

"I'll leave you be. You've got some things to work out, and please. Try to keep your powers under control." The doctor sad as he walkes out.

Jason opened his eyes and looked down. The darkness had manifested into physical form and surrounded him, and him alone. Like a protective shield. He took comfort in this knowledge as he closed his eyes once more, visions of a life gone and the love of his life gone, danced in his mind. The darkness grew stronger in him.

"I don't know what these powers I have are, but I accept them. I accept them and will use them." he thought to himself. Falling asleep, like someone who has been awake for 3 days straight.

((That is all for now. It's getting late and I don't want to ramble anymore right now. I've got more to type later.))
