Medical Unit 45

Here is the bio I wrote for my Emp/Rad Defender. It wasn't until I tried to post it in my ID that I realized it was too long. Please ignore tense abuse.

Medical Unit 45 is the realization of Dr. Glen Wright's dream to an autonomous machine that could not only be sent on rescue and aid missions but would also help all those in need that it encountered. His vision of a machine that would not only protect but value that life above all seemed out of reach until Medical Unit 45 was activated. His greatest creation unfortunately came at an unimaginable cost.

The previous 44 units carried out their programming in an adequate manner but lacked any sort of creativity in problem solving. Unexpected problems outside of the scope of their programming would cause the machines to return to base regardless of the condition of those in its care. Funding issues, his detractors from within the scientific community, and a general lack of progress since Unit 42 seemed to spell the end of the project.

Finally the day came when he was asked to turn over all research materials and vacate his office. Unable to give up on his dream Dr. Wright smuggled enough parts from the lab to continue he work in private. He worked compulsively on the realization of his life's work without success.

Life continued its downward spiral for Dr. Wright when his daughter called with news that her son Zephyr was dieing from leukemia. Distraught and broken Glen sets aside his work to spend time with his grandson. Time is clearly not on the side of young Zephyr. In what was to be his final conversation with his grandchild he asks Zephyr," If you could have anything in the world what would it be? If it is in my power I will give it to you no matter what the cost."

"I want to be like Hero 1," Zephyr said weakly. "I want to affect the world not just die unnoticed and powerless."

The elder Wright held his grandson and cried. "I will do what I can," he sobbed. The nurse chose this moment to intrude to say that visiting hours were over. Dr. Wright returned home to ponder his options.

On his return to the hospital the following day he is informed that Zephyr has fallen into a coma from which he is unlikely to awaken. His caregivers say that he has one week at best left until the cancer ends his tragically short life.

Mad with grief, Dr. Wright returns to his home lab and begins to work. After tracking down the necessary black market Council technology he prepares to give Zephyr his wish. A hospital security guard gives him late night access to his grandson's room in exchange for a large sum of money. Dr. Wright scans the boy's neural pathways in preparation for transfer to a robotic body.

The child died six days after he entered the coma. Convinced he can give new life to this kind soul he initiates the transfer procedure. All goes as it should and soon Medical Unit 45 is exploring his surroundings. The doctor starts to explain to his sentient creation about what has happen since Zephyr entered his coma. It becomes clear that the robotic life form has no memory of his life before. The person that sold the equipment to Dr. Wright failed to mention the no actual memories would be transferred. Zephyr's kindness, intelligence, and willingness to help those in need was present but all else was a clean slate.

The realization that his Grandson was truly dead proves too much for Glen to take. He unlocks his safe and removes the pistol inside. He kisses a picture of Zephyr, puts the gun to his head, and pulls the trigger. The instant the gun fires the world explodes with brilliant green light. After a moment he becomes coherent enough to realize that he is not in fact dead. Strong metal arms support his injured body. He hears the robot speak before losing consciousness again.

"I am Medical Unit 45. I am here to help you."

Oooh! I like it! Mine is not quite as long. Actually, this is more of a Single Hero looking for Single Heroine. Here goes, I'm on Justice.

Prowess v1.0 is a Technology Blaster. He was Police Officer who was injured in the line of duty while helping heroes fight the Rikti Invasion. Crey Industries saved his life in order for further their own ends, and used their advanced stolen Rikti bionics to transform him into an cyborg. They made him better, stronger, faster. The lab where he was being created was destroyed before he could be completely reprogramed, but his survival instincts were very high and he managed to escape. Since that time he has been doing what he knows how to do best, to protect and serve.

Half man, half machine, all hero.

Specs:
Age: Unknown - All records were lost on the Prowess program.
Height: 5'6''
Weight: 362lbs (all that armor and DU ammo is heavy)
Hair: Brown
Eyes: Unknown - It seems his eyes have been replaced with PhotoSensitive Occular implants, which require him to wear special goggles.

Enjoys: Going to Paragon Dance Party, hero herding, saving the old lady's purse

Seeks: Heroine who likes to dance, with medium to long hair and a decent sense of style, preferably level 20+

Sidenote: Yes, everything still works as good as, if not better than before, due to the bionic enhancments. Stamina is 6-slotted.
