Project: Negated - Mages of Nil (on Guardian)
Anyone is welcome to create a Negated character on the Guardian server. Guidelines:
1. Character should be a scrapper. Primary power is your choice, but choose Dark Armor for secondary.
2. Character should be completely black, no color. Use a hood, preferably the second type which shows less of the face. To complete the effect, use opaque black sunglasses on the face to hide any hint of the eyes.
3. When roleplaying the Negated, remember that you are one of the Mages of Nil speaking *through* it. Often they speak for their organization, using "we" instead of "I", i.e. "We would like you to consider us for your team."
4. Character name should be "The Negated" followed by a version number of your choosing.
You're ready, then, to begin defending Paragon City. Check here occassionally, as I may update the storyline. After all, it really does seem there is someone or something trapped within the shell of each Negated...
Project Title: The Negated

(classified notes from the archives of the Mages of Nil; highest level of restrictionthe personal journals of T. Alan Jansen)
Version 7 has stabilized within the positive matter sac. Previous versions dissipated after only a few minutes or hours. Version 7 has been present for four days and sixteen hours. Degree of non-existence is registered at 99.98%, down 0.00001% from previous attempts. Subjects physical form has been completely eliminated; residual life-energies have been reduced to 0.0000001%. To be honest, I think what is left is simply a misinterpretation of energies being generated by our monitoring equipment. The magic holds, praise to Nil and father Kaos.
(one year later
Version 7 responding exceptionally well to the magic. Manipulation has been slow to master, but several of the brothers and sisters have excelled with dedicated practice. Humanoid form is maintaining integrity, even during stress tests. Blade is working fine. Able to perform within plane of existence on par with some PC supers. Absorbs damage with no apparent effects, however, if weakened to extreme degree must be transported back to facility for reformation of the positive matter sac. As expected the magic has limits, however, continued testing suggests a viable source of city guardians has been discovered. Field tests to commence soon.

On the Mages of Nil:
(from the Record of Registered Magical Societies of Paragon City
The Mages of Nil, founded 1994 by T. Alan Jansen and classified as a bi-gendered monastic, hold that their magic derives from a deity of non-existence called Nil, who along with the ancient god Kaos keeps balance with the world of existence and order, of which Paragon City and the rest of the known universe are a part. There experiments strive to bring about controlled pockets of utter nothingness, which they contain with their magic. The possible uses of such conjurations is their second area of study, to which they have applied themselves diligently in the years since their inception. To date, they have succeeded in establishing the Negated project in Paragon City, which aims to create a renewable source of superhero guardians to assist the police force and protect our citizens.

Negated, or simply diminished?

...and rumors have spread, even among the Mages of Nil themselves, that the subject involved in this process remains aware and trapped within the positive matter sac. One member of the order I interviewed said that during their time controlling the Negated, they could sense another presence working against them. Jansen, of course, maintains to this day that no living creature was involved in the process, and that the minute traces of energy flickering within the Negated shell are residue from early monitoring processes. But when you pass this dark hero on the streets, listen closely and you may become another of the hundreds of witnesses who claim to have caught words at the edge of their hearingand not the voice of its mage controller...
