Things continued to get more out of control. Faces were now appearing and disappearing in the strobing light. Mystic put up wall of flame around them and burned anything that got near, until he could see Jack in a flash of light, simply hovering there.

He flew through a hole he created in the sphere and straight at Jack, being sliced by a long, razor backed, eel like creature as he moved. When he reached Jack, he grabbed him by both shoulders and shook him. "Do what you do, DAMNIT!!"

He wasn't sure if it was Jack, or what, but the room suddenly was lit. He could see some kind of cyborg touching the holographic panels of one of the consoles. He looked back and saw the device spinning out of control, superimposed over the device sitting peacefully in the room. He looked up as the cieling gave way, and shafts of white and blue light streaked into the air. But the cieling was still there as well, he could see it. Then, the device erupted in white light.

Mystic was thrown into the quiet reality, with a loud thud, he hit the wall. He slid down until his feet touched the carpet. His eyes remained focussed on the device, sitting placidly in the center of the room, and then he collapsed.

Moments later, he came to. Curious to see who had followed him into the new "alternate reality", he looked around.

“Wow… that was… what was that?” replied the cyborg.

Coolant System assessed the situation swiftly before moving to Mystic Inferno’s side. “Are you okay pal? What’s going on?” Mystic looked up to see the towering, blue hero. While he was not exceptionally tall, the techno-suit surrounding the humanoid frame seemed to block out a large portion of his vision. The only indication that there was a man beneath the tech was a pale face obscured by a hood and sunglasses.

After pausing only long enough to let the hero beneath him think about responding, Coolant resumed speaking as if he had gotten some response other than a blank stare.

“Well you see, I came in and found this weird bubble in the room… well actually, I didn’t just come in I had to hack in through one of the side access panels ‘cus of the security door… well I didn’t do it, my suit did it, but that’s not the point; I hope I didn’t do anything wrong, I saw the bubbles and the lights and I figure ‘this isn’t good,’ so I hack into the mainframe and then I started trying to shut stuff down… I hope this isn’t my fault. I didn’t do anything in the mainframe, I just looked through the files… I have never seen anything like that. It looks Rikti; is it Rikti? Anyways. Are you all right?”

When the cyber-man finally finished speaking, the bewildered and beaten group had its first chance to react to the new situation they had been thrust into.

Seeing a chance to escape, Corvus quickly took flight towards the open portal. Inches from the event horizon, a hand grasped from out of the darkness, clutching her leg. Effortlessly, the hand tossed her at the reinforced metal wall with a resounding thud. Illuminated by the flashes of light, the hand's owner stepped into view, a hulking black mass of muscles and teeth.

Corvus stood from where she had fallen. With her arms outstretched, she fired off a bolt of darkness at the creature. Unflinching, the creature merely grasped her extended arm and twisted savagely. Gasping at the pain which accompanied the breaking of her arm, Corvus sank to her knees.

The creature, still holding Corvus' broken arm, pulled her to her feet. Leering, it lifted her up and threw her at a nearby console. The console's pedestal snapped as Corvus' body crashed into it, leaving a fountain of electric blue sparks flying where the pedestal stood.

Eyes burned by the bright flashing light of the electricity, the creature howled in agony and covered its eyes. Seeing a chance to escape, Corvus steeled herself to the pain and flew into the portal, arriving beside Mystic Inferno. Finally (reasonably) safe, she collapsed into unconsciousness. A small pool of dark red blood formed at her wrist where the bone had pierced the skin.

"Bloody'ell". Mystic sat up and rubbed the back of his head. His hood had fallen back and revealed his blue haircover. He replaced his hood and looked back at the cybernetic individual. He took stock of the room, in far better condition than it was in his universe, and looked once again at
Corvus.

Then, in a voice loud enough to be heard anywhere in the room, "Jack, are you still with us?"

He grabbed her wrist and began wrapping it with his cape. Looking back at the cybernetic individual, "I don't mean to be rude, but would you have a bandage?"

As Mystic disappeared into another reality (or back to the original reality, the Cowman had no idea which it was) his flight aura quickly dissapated from the air. The Cowman found himself falling onto the top of another computer terminal.

He steadied himself against the blast of wind that the "Guard" kicked up and watched as much of the black ooze was swept towards the wall. Unfortunatly it didn't clear the whole floor and the metal surface couldn't stand up to the corrosive liquid anymore.

The room shook as part of the floor collapsed, and more was soon to follow. Glancing around for the others he caught sight of Corvus. Flashing by a twisted hulk of black muscles, she flew for the spot where Mystic had vanished. The artery in one of her wrists had obviously been punctured, leaving drops of crimson to fall through the air behind her. In the next instant she had gone, just as Mystic had. Well, he wasn't one to go against a good idea.

"Looks like we're abandoning ship," he called to the guy in white. As he prepared to follow Mystic and Corvus his eyes suddenly spotted a lump of something lying on part of the floor that had been cleared.

"Hey, it's the dead lady," he mumbled, leaping over to her. More of the floor gave out near them. The Cowman grabbed the prone body by the scruff of her neck, the thin coating of ooze on her burning into his hand. Turning towards the portal he suddenly found himself looking at the large black monster from before.

"All right," he said softly, "round 2." Unsheathing his sword he crouched low, building up as much tension in his legs as he could. The creature lunged towards him, arms reaching out to crush them. At the last second, the Cowman pushed off the ground. The jump which would normally send him flying high into the air, shot him up over the thing's arms. His sword flashed in a wide arc as he flew by its head, catching it in the neck. The now headless monster fell to the ground.

"Mess with the best, die like the rest," the Cowman chuckled as he glanced back at the fallen creature. His smile quickly disappeared as he saw more of the black insects pouring out of the monster's open neck and several other creatures materializing out of the shadows.

"Uh, no offense though," he called as he finally reached the portal. He was blinded by a flash of light and suddenly found himself and the girl falling onto the well-lit floor of the room. He groggily sat up, looking around at the other heroes in the room.

"But, it wasn't a dream. You were there... and you were there... and you; actually," he said looking at the back of the large blue armored guy, "I've never seen you before."

Coolant searched his leg armor frantically before it dawned on him that he didn't actually have pockets. "Umm... yeah... I mean no, well this might help some"

Reaching around behind his head he ripped a large piece of fabric from the back of his hood. After checking to make sure its temperature was within tolerable levels, he applied the cloth to Corvus’ wound.

“It - it gets real cold around my suit. Any germs would probably freeze, so it should be sterile… I think,” he replied while trying to stop the blood flow. “Can’t be dirtier than that cape of yours. Looks like you guys just got shot out of a war zone.”

When he determined there was nothing further he could do, Coolant left the impromptu bandage behind and rushed to the nearest terminal in hopes of finding any medical data stored.

It was supposed to be a science day today, Coolant thought as he dug through the nearby terminal. There‘s nothing here! They said to fill my data spools with tech stuff. I wasn’t supposed to need first aid!

“Umm, I will do what I can, but I don’t think there are any health files here. I will try to call for help, but the security system here is top of the line. It took me forever to get in here – and I disabled my wifi earlier, so I can’t… arghh, I’m doing it again!

Look, here’s what you need to know: name’s Coolant System, I’ll do what I can to help, I ramble when I feel helpless, and in case you didn’t notice, I feel pretty helpless right now.”

((Ok, after someone explained things to me, they're clearer now ))

Techsupport, after not noticing anyone in the area with him or the odd device, started poking at the console. Standing over it, he tries to make heads or tails of the mystic symbols and decides to just make an image capture for some folks at MAGI to have fun with. After the 'duty' is done, he looks at the holographic projector...
"This looks nice, maybe I ought to try and use that for myelf...." He muses, and then falls silent.

"Is someone there?" he calls out, certain he just heard voices and screams. Goosebumps form on his arms under the armoured sleeves of his suit, and he shakes his head to get rid of that disconcerting feeling he usually only gets near Spectres.
A brief glance is given to the underside of his left-hand gauntlet, battery-charges indicating on full, and underneath the mask he lets out a small, relieved sigh.

That is, a relieved sigh until a shockwave lifts him off of his feet, up over the console and with a metal CLANG against the back wall. Tech knocks his head against the surface and for a few moments he can only hear a ringing noise, seeing black spots bleed all over his vision. Doing the sensible thing, he stays down until the swimming feelings disappear before he gets to his feet, only to realise he's not alone anymore...

((This ought to be open enough to prevent further mixups, most of them on my end...))

*crash*

"What the heck is going on out there?"

A moment later one of the living quarter rooms opened, Melissa's human form emerging from the door. Once again she is dressed in her soft pink blouse and short gray skirt. Coming into the main chamber, she looks everything and one over. "It's about time you got here...had enough fun with the darkness?" She smirks and walks further into the room. "I see we have some more guests...," taking in the appearance of Techsupport and Cooling System. "Welcome to the mad house. Your rooms are ready and there is a mint on your pillow." She frowns, "Umm...Cowman...who is your friend there.... Date?"

"Not quite," the woman said, the one Cowman had pulled through the portal with him. She slowly picked herself up, stretching tight muscles, as if she hadn't moved for awhile. Distinguishable features included the woman being nearly nude, except for the fact that her entire body was covered in a black ooze, which also soaked her hair. It slowly dripped from her, but never seemed to leave her or spread far.

Problem was, other than that, Melissa was looking into an oozy mirror image. Or, perhaps the oozed Melissa was looking at a mirror of her normal self. Simaltaneously the two women spoke, "You're me. No...I'm me...you're something else." Each pointed at the other in accusation.

The Cowman stood still, not saying anything. He looked back at the device, the last images of the dark room disappearing as the portal they jumped through winked out. He turned and looked at the clean, undamaged room they were now in. He looked at the three new heroes that had seemingly shown up from nowhere. He looked back and forth between the clean, clothed Melissa and the gooey (and rather naked) Melissa he had carried from the other room. He finally straightened himself up, his clothes in tatters and his hand still smoking from the black ooze, and spoke very calmly and plainly.

"I think I'm gonna cry."

Tech raises his left hand, index finger up as if he's about to interrupt people and start saying stupid things. His right fist is clenched, though, and a light crackle of electricity runs along the outside visibly.

However, he stops when his monocle-visor starts pouring out information to him. Faces of registered heroes scanned, and positive ID information fed back from Hero Corps. He ahhhs and then hmmms behind his facemask when other info starts pouring in.

"I was going to say a lot of stupid things..." he starts "But I think now is not the time. I need to see the wounded, I treat them."
With that, he clambers back over the equipment he was tossed over by the shockwave.

((ooc: sorry guys, real life stuff meant I didn't have time to read or post till now. My apologies. And Averick, who's Jack? Do you mean me, and misremembered the name? I'll assume so hehe.))

For a moment, the air became incredibly still, as if poised on the edge of some massive change. From all around, there was the muted, distant twang of harpoon fire and the crazed bubbling roar of some underwater beast. Jason was suddenly there in the room, one hand still poised to hurl a shadowy dagger he was holding. He was dripping wet, his left shoulder was covered with gore, and he smelt of seaweed and fish guts. Then the sounds faded away, and the atmosphere returned to normal.

Lowering his weapon, Jason looked around, the shock apparent on his face as he took in the twin Melissas, the bizzarre new arrivals, and the warped reality parameters. He rushed into an apology, "I'm really sorry guys, one of my alt world buddies really needed my help with this devouring earth beastie. Had to go save his behind, so I left a possibility simulacrum in the original universe with you guys, but the situation was beyond his limited programming. I figured you didn't really need me for a while...but... what on earth happened? How did you guys end up in this world?"

Despite the amazing events taking place, at least one of the room’s occupants seemed unfazed by the otherworldly happenings… of course, Coolant probably would have found himself just as shocked as the others had he been paying attention.

Shortly after he began his search, he realized there was nothing medical in the files and shifted his focus to exploring the highly advanced system. Coolant found the network littered with firewalls and encryptions too powerful for even his strongest hacker programs to break; programs that had opened 5th Column and Crey computers without leaving a single indication of entry.

In most cases, he would have dismissed these security features as simple anti-theft precautions, but something about the frequency and placement of the firewalls indicated that there may be more to the elderly woman and her building than meets the eye.

Tapping into the localized surveillance network, Coolant began to hastily examine the events that had taken place in the room prior to his entry. The more he observed, the more confused he became. One thing was certain, Coolant had stumbled into something big, and he had the distinct feeling he should have just stayed home.

Tech, having had sufficient medical training to have a disregard of most things except for an impending patient, kneels down next to Corvus and looks at the rapidly blood-staining cloth. He puts his fingers to his temples and rubs a little, "Oh boy... this is going to be a tricky one..."
He brings his left arm into view, opening a small panel in the large tech-filled gloves and adjusts a small slider to the uttermost right that it will go. "Ok, this is going to tingle..." he warns, not sure if he's talking to Corvus, or others.

'Joe' ((using his real name a moment for variety ;D)) gets to his feet and makes a small motion with his arms, triggering a set of pre-programmed conditions that activates his armours' cellular regenerator. A green glow starts from the vents on the metal suit, and then soon burst out in a wave of tingly radiation.

If it works, the device will stop the bleeding and cause the wound to heal over swiftly... It can not undo the bloodloss, though. Techsupport kneels back down next to Corvus and begins to inspect her for anything that he might've missed.

<<I havent really had a chance to forum roleplay before, but I'd like to join in with two charachters if noone would mind. Considering the abnormal properties of the device, could people teleporting by the device be pulled into the alternate reality by accident?>>

((OOC: Sorry, been busy and spending all my free time contributing to a thread I joined before I started this one. Sure, at this point anything goes.))

Mystic stared at Jason. "I'm sorry, I could have sworn your name was Jack. Jack Gault, you have a wife, Patricia. She has short red hair and some mutant ability to control ice.”

At this point the door behind Melissa opened and Mystic Inferno walked out putting his gloves back on. “Is all this racket really nec… Jesus Mary mother of god.” Both Mystics stood stupefied as they stared at each other, then looked at the two Melissa’s. The one by the door spoke first, “now, now, now, just wait a moment. Nobody panic.”

The sentence ended with “least of all me.” But probably only the Melissa nearest him could hear that as his volume dropped off quite sharply.
