Everything must co-exist in one form or another. Everything mus balance each other. I guess that is why I have taken up the mantle of being a 'superheroine', to help maintain a balance between good an evil.
Many people in Paragon City, by people I mean to say other superheroes, seek to vanquish evil and by force create peace through strength and presence. I ask if it will matter in the end? We will always be faced with people who seek to allow evil actions to happen through them. It is in their nature, it is what they do. That is their way, just as it is the way of the just to oppose them, thus fullfilling the mobius of the Yin and Yang.
For many heroes, it becomes a choice. With power comes responsibility. Do we use our gifts for promoting 'good' or 'evil'? Most heroes I encounter are basically 'good'. Some are good enough to side with you, invite you to join them in quest, or come to your aid when the forces of evil are great enough to overpower you in battle. Others, while of good nature, may not stop to help because they don't have the time, or a mission is more important to them. You see, even in the light of the Yin Yang, there is a Yin and Yang present.
I had the opportunity to become part of the 5th Column as a scientist, but to help them with their goal of world domination was not part of my way. It was against what my parents would have wanted, and thus against what I would want as well. So, with this in mind, I made the choice to stand against them, light vs. dark, Yin vs. Yang.
While I'm certain that in the grand scheme of the infinite cosmos there is a purpose for the 5th Column to exist, I, being only a mortal, do not know what it is. I only know that they seek to promote harm and violence to further their efforts of taking over the world, and I have chosen to stand against that. I am confident that through my actions, the actions of my friends and companions in the new Emerald Order, and through fellow heroes, that the 5th Column will one day be vanquished. When that day comes, though, I am certain that another evil will rise to take their place in the Yang and thus fill the void left by their demise.
