  1. For anyone who is interested, I have completed a .PDF version of all the Tanker Primary and Secondary powerset data that I have.     No worries, this thread is mainly aimed at the math geeks like myself.

    For those of you who have no clue what's going on in this thread, the easiest thing to do will probably be to wait until someone can convert all the nerd-speak into simple, easy-to-understand language, which I'm sure will happen eventually.

    I'm considering a variety of options for posting the raw data to the web, and haven't made any firm decisions yet; any suggestions are welcome. Also, anyone who would like to put the information I've posted in this thread on their own website is free to do so, provided you cite this thread as the source.

    The main issue right now is that the raw data I have is not particularly easy to share with other users. It's in an archive format that I can easily access and look up data, but copying large amounts of that data becomes rather cumbersome. I'm working to streamline the information into a format that will be easy for outside users to access and understand, but I have no timeline for how long that may take.
  5. I have some potentially great news: I seem to have found the attribute that flags powers as melee or ranged. I did some quick calculations, and it appears to work out in every instance I've found so far. I'll post a list of every power's melee/ranged status as soon as I get it compiled; should be done sometime today.


    EDIT: I need to do some more verification before I post this info, so I'll hopefully have it out by early next week.

    We can use this thread to list the Scale values that have been tested and verified using the Scale system (not just taking the old brawl index numbers and calculating what they should be, as anyone can do that). So if you have found a Scalar value for any power, list it here. This includes damage, resistance, defense, buffs/debuffs...basically, anything that has a Mod Table listed in this guide. Once we have all these scalars compiled, we can organize it into one coherent and easy-to-understand guide.

    Excellent work on accumulating all of this data, btw. I'm curious, though, as to where you got this data specifically. It appears to contradict statements made by Statesman on the number of lucks required to hit the defense cap, relative to the number of sturdies required to hit the resistance cap.

    Yes, this was an oversight on my part. I only looked up the values for the blaster caps, thinking they were the same across all ATs. Looking back on the tables now, I see a variation between the ATs, with the level 50 Tanker defense cap at 2.25. I'll post the full tables for each AT shortly.

    Here's the data for player To-Hit and Defense Caps by level. Note that base ToHit is 0.75, so the maximum additional ToHit a player can have is 1.0, or 100%. This includes any ToHit debuffs that are on the player. For a complete and thorough guide to ToHit and Defense, see Arcana's Guide to Defense v1.3.

    I made an error in my statement here about the maximum additional ToHit a player can have. I was looking at the wrong table when I typed that. It is actually a maximum of 125% at level 50, not the 100% that I stated.

    Lastly, I know (from a Dev post somewhere) that Controllers get +25% control duration. Is that just a special controller thing, or does each AT have a control duration multiplier?

However, that is an ENORMOUS amount of data for me to sort, format, and copy into a message board-presentable format. I'm not saying I won't eventually do it, just that it'll take quite a while if I do. From what I've seen in SherkSilver's hero planner, most (but not all) of the categories I listed are accurate in there, and it's the overall most accurate and complete hero planner I've seen.

    -Recharge (or Slow) is a separate AT modifier that I haven't listed yet. Same with the control modifiers.     I'll get these posted up eventually, it's just a pain to convert them all into an easily readable format. It's a really huge amount of information, and I don't want to flood people with too many seemingly meaningless numbers (I know, I've already done so for some of you :P), so I'm not really in any hurry to get every single mod/attribute value posted. If there's something specific that people want, I'll be glad to list it, though. I'll have those Slow and Mez modifiers up shortly (each type of mez has its own level 1-50 table for the 12 ATs).

    I'm still searching for a reliable way to find the scale values; however, based on what I've found so far, it appears unlikely that I can provide this information. I can give reliable information on the following attributes for any power in the game: click/auto/toggle; base accuracy; cone/AoE/location; max targets; radius; angle; range; activation time; recharge; time per endurance tick; endurance cost; interrupt time; target required; enhancements allowed.

    I'm hoping to find a way to determine the scale values without testing, but that appears unlikely.

    This is exactly what the game engine does. A moderate damage 2.7777 attack is the baseline 1.0 upon which all damage scales are based. This applies to all levels, not just 20+; the scale values always remain the same. Now, hopefully, we can get the hero planner designers to adopt this system.

    Specifically, when I contemplate defender builds in my brand-spanking new hero planner, I want the defender version of Air Superiority to list damage as .55, because it does 55% of the blaster Air Superiority. This is only true for levels 20+, as you have said. That is why I made that consideration.

    Some planners (such as SherkSilver's) already include the ability to calculate your actual damage, if you know your brawl value for your current level. There are still some innacuracies because of the brawl index system they use (which would be eliminated by converting to the Damage Scale sytem), but it should be a fairly easy transition for them to show your actual, in-game damage for any attack you select, as much of the core programming to do it is already in place. If anyone knows any of those programmers, please feel free to direct them to this thread.

    I recently tested Darkest Night, because I've got a MasterMind Superteam that I'd like to fine tune. With a sample size of slightly over 7000 attacks, and taking the StreakBreaker into account, it looks like Darkest Night debuffed ToHit by 10.5% for a Mastermind. If Darkest Night is considered a Ranged attack, that means the Damage Scale is 1.4, and Defenders should be 17.5% and Controllers 14%. If it's considered a Melee attack, the Damage Scale is 1.05, and Defenders should be 13.125% and Controllers 10.5%. Looks like I'll need to find a Dark Defender to test this, as I don't have one. Anyone desperate to get these numbers?

    I also tested Radiation Infection. It was 31.2% for Defenders (13,000 samples) and 25.5% for Controllers (don't have the sample data handy). It looks like that will require some more testing, because those numbers don't work out cleanly. If I had to guess, I'd say RI has a Damage Scale of 2.5, and should debuff ToHit for Defenders by 31.25% and Controllers by 25.0%. Time to test RI on my level 40 Fire/Rad Corruptor!

    This is intentional. There is no melee debuff dmg modifier, and I'm uncertain which is damage and which is resistance. My assumption is that DAM is resistance and DMG is damage, as all the damage-debuffing powers that I know of would seem to be classified as ranged attacks.

    These numbers seem to disagree with the long standing assumption that blaster Aim adds 100% accuracy adjustment and 62.5% damage adjustment and that BU adds 100% damage adjustment and 62.5% accuracy adjustment.

    I would venture to guess that the values for Aim and BU are switched, 8 for Aim acc and for BU dam, 5 for Aim dam and BU acc.

    This would mean BU still gets 100% damage adjustment, but only 37.5% acc adjustment?

    If they are disagreeing, and your numbers are correct, may I ask how you came up with them? Also are your numbers saying that if a blaster uses Aim or BU, his ranged damage and accuracy buffs will be different than his melee damage and accuracy buffs?     The "long standing assumption" about blaster aim adding 100% accuracy was based on lack of knowledge about the AT-based modifiers. The damage values have been consistently tested to match the values I listed, which means Aim has a 5.0 damage buff scale. Build Up has been consistently tested to have an 8.0 damage buff scale, making the blaster version give a 100% damage buff. Based on these 2 scalar values, I've made the reasonable assumption that the tohit buff values correspond directly to these; meaning when the damage buff scale is 8.0, the tohit buff scale is 5.0, and vice-versa. I've not seen any testing that conclusively confirms or denies these tohit buff values, so they remain as assumptions for now.

    Correct. For any buff/debuff power, you just need to know the scale values to then use the table to calculate the actual, in-game base buff/debuff. This scale value is almost always the same across all ATs who share a power, so if you find the value for the defender version, for example, you then can calculate the mastermind and corruptor versions.

    This also applies to pool powers. The res scale of tough is 1.5, so any AT with a 0.10 Melee Res modifier gets a 1.5 * 0.10 = 0.15 = 15% smashing/lethal resistance.
  20. The Scrapper and Defender Melee Heal mods are the same as their Ranged Heal mods; however, there's a separate set of ranged and melee mod tables for the HealSelf values. I need a few minutes to copy and format those values, then I'll post them up here.

    Edit: Nevermind, those values are simply 10% of the base HP values for each AT. Just multiply my HP table by 0.1 and you'll have the HealSelf tables.

    The HP max charts are separated by damage type rather than melee/ranged, and they're all identical within each AT, so I only listed that once each for the max HP and the max HP cap. The healing tables are separated into melee and ranged, but I listed only the ranged table here, as there was minimal variation between the two. If it appears that the ranged chart is giving the wrong numbers for any of the ATs, I'll put up the melee one too, but I don't think that will be necessary.

  23. The brawl index breaks down and gets some messy numbers when you try to apply it to defenders, dominators, and kheldians. I listed the separate tables for all ATs for the sake of inclusiveness, as there's no way I could have gone through and verified that every X AT power is melee/ranged. I leave that up to the testing community in general to verify whether or not any of the mods are completely unused.
  24. Every power in the game is inherently ranged or melee, that's how ALL the calculations are done by the game system. Even self-buffs and auto powers are considered melee, with the target set as yourself. Every (or nearly every) modifier in the game has a ranged version and a melee version. Sometimes these are the same, sometimes they're not. For the majority of powers, it should be fairly obvious whether they're ranged or melee, though there are some oddities (like Focus being a melee attack). Final damage is calculated by knowing 1) the damage scale, 2) which mod table to use, and 3) the values in that mod table.

    For Blasters, Controllers, Masterminds, and Corruptors, you don't need to differentiate between ranged and melee, as they have the same damage modifier. For Brutes, Stalkers, Scrappers, and Tankers, nearly all of their powers are melee (EPPs may be an exception). That just leaves Defenders (nearly all ranged), Dominators, and Kheldians for us to figure out ranged vs. melee, which shouldn't be that difficult.
  25. I suggest converting the brawl index database to the Damage Scale database. Multiply all the BIs by .36 to get the DS value, and then you just find your corresponding damage mod in the tables above and multiply it by the DS to get your real, in-game damage.

    Also, any new DS values that do not come out as fairly round numbers (the most I've seen in my testing is 2 digits after the decimal), then those numbers should be retested and verified. For example, if you found a DS of 2.846, it's probably inaccurate; but a DS of 1.64 (with no additional decimals) is probably accurate.

    As for why I don't multiply by 36 instead of .36, it's because if you multiply by 36, you then have to divide the damage mod tables by 100, giving you some messy decimals to work with. I prefer x.xx * xx.xx , rather than xxx * 0.xxxx
