Stop playing 1v1. That's where all of the imbalance exists. Don't fight 2v2 or higher unless you bring a solid team. Otherwise, you will be beaten into the ground. There is a counter for just about everything, but few ATs are equiped to deal with every power set.
You won't figure everything out in 5 days, but if you don't like that idea then I'd suggest sticking with pve where you won't lose as much.
In any case, have fun! -
I mostly play in the arena, just for reference. I'm a eng/eng/eng blaster.
Concerning blaster damage, I'm kind of upset that controllers and tankers can get higher brawl index powers than many of the blaster attacks.
Controllers can do some ridiculous ranged damage when their target is held. From a relative standpoint, I don't see how this promotes the benefit of having a blaster around if a controller can hold and blast at the same time. Of course, this comes into play at 40+.
Maybe blasters should do more damage based on the amount of endurance that they have. If not that, the blaster damage cap should be more like %600. %400 is just way too low considering you can cap that without help from any other ATs. -
I play my blaster exclusively in the arena. I'm eng/eng/eng.
Regardless of what the blaster's role is supposed to be, I always find myself using melee attacks to do real damage. The ranged attacks are sort of a joke when controllers get similar or better ranged damage after 40. I only have 3 attacks from my energy primary: energy bolt, blast, and nova. I seldom make any kills with the ranged attacks. They are mostly for killing someone with hurricane or someone who uses break free and tries to escape the dreaded energy punch, bone smasher, total focus combo.
I don't necessarily mind having super powered melee attacks, because they can get the job done and drop toggles almost every time. I'm more of a high powered toggle dropper than anything else in the arena.
Really, at higher levels blasters should be doing way, way more ranged damage. There is simply no compensation for lack of status protection and 4 or 5 seconds of hit points in the arena if someone decides to attack you. Granted, I'm force mastery so I can take a beating for longer than most, but I think my point still stands.
