It has been discussed ad nauseum for years. The given reason for why it is the way it is, is for security. So that someone can't log you out and delete all your characters. If they log out to delete a character, they would have to be able to log back in.
Whether this is effective, or outweighs the convenience factor doesn't much matter at this point. Feel free to bring it up in another thread in Suggestions. I expect you to get quite a bit of resistance, and lots more bickering, and probably not a few attacks for bringing it up again. Try not to take it too hard.
Not everyone has been on the forums or playing the game as long as some of us, and don't know that this is not a new topic.
As the other poster said though, don't try to make it a petition, because that is against the forum rules.

I see. Well I understand the security reasons, but I just want to know why this person is at your unattended PC in the first place, logging you out of the game to maliciously delete your characters
I mean its your own stupid fault if you leave a public PC (internet cafe) unattended, but I would have thought a majority of players would play from home.
Maybe have an option in the in-game options menu that allows you to turn this feature on or off by inputting your password to allow it. I dunno, maybe I should leave this for the suggestion thread lol
