  1. Normally, I get pretty good performance out of City of Heroes. However, whenever I join a league, I suffer from severe lag to the point where I get mapserver errors and disconnect. Reconnecting, everything is fine until I rejoin the league, when the lag returns. Any ideas what might be causing this?
  2. Okay, I'll level with everyone.

I need serious critique of the podcast as it stands now.

City of Heroes/Villains, while still a mildly interesting game from time to time, can no longer be the sole focus of my podcasting efforts. For one thing, you can only wank on for so long about an issue that isn't even out yet before you tire of hearing about it. Three episodes about I13. THREE. And the thing isn't even out yet.

Basically, I'm thinking that Jerk Radio, as it is now, might conclude its current format with this episode coming up.

Nothing's been set in stone as of yet, and I'm still jazzed about having done an ongoing project for a year now.

Bottom line, I NEED feedback for this thing. I'm probably going to cross-post this to the Virtue forum just to get a clearer picture.
  3. Well, the thing is that I personally am waning in my interest in City of Heroes. Once Issues 13 and 14 drop, however, I'll probably hit it hard and heavy once again, as the mission architect and stuff totally rages my dream. Plus, I've been wanting to get my rocket launcher back ever since I respecced for Flame Mastery to get Rise of the Phoenix. Sometimes, when you're awesome like me, you don't die.

...of course, I've been giggling too much at Self-Destruct to justify dropping Rise of the Phoenix. Ah, well, c'et la vie.

    In Other News:

    1. Jerk Radio's 1 Year Anniversary is coming up soon. No foolin'. I want to do some things with it, but I haven't decided what yet. I was thinking either a simple retrospective of the last year of podcasting, or something far more interesting: a PVP Arena brawl commentated on by the Circle of Jerks, in a similar vein as the Paragonian Knights thing.

I'm thinking of calling it The (Real) First Annual Jerk-Off. Catchy, ain't it?

The anniversary is Thanksgiving weekend, if I'm doing my calendar math right, so expect SOMETHING coming up the pike soon. I gotta mull it over a bit.

    2. I, Adam Nelson, will be at MAGFest this year. It's at Alexandria, VA, the 1st through the 4th of January. During that time, I'll be recording a podcast, and depending on how many participants I can get to agree to join in, I MIGHT let YOU in on the fun if you can prove to me how much of a Jerk you are.
  4. jerk. with a lowercase j.

JUST FOR THAT, I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU THAT EPISODE 17 OF JERK RADIO IS OUT. NYAH NYAH NYAH.

    ...crap.

Anyway, yeah, it's out. We comment a little about the Halloween event, and then digress so horribly that it can only be described as 'strange, funny and heartrending'. Well, not so much the heartrending part, but I just wanted to use the Mother 3 line.

Anyway, enjoy, kids! iTunes already sees the update, so the rest of the RSS readers should see it as well.
  5. You people...YOU PEOPLE AREN'T WRITING. STOMACH PUNCHES ALL AROUND. >
  6. Okay, guys. We're going to be recording an episode here in the next few days, perhaps this weekend. I urge all you loyal, rabid fans (insert single digit listeners joke here) to write in for a segment I'm going to be doing after the discussion topic at hand, which is tentatively going to be the Halloween event, as well as some minor off-topic conversation. Then I want to read a little audience mail. The topic for this will be from an earlier episode: What would YOUR character's TF/SF be? Keep it concise, but awesome. All the good responses I get will be read on the podcast. To send in your e-mails, point it at
    thisisjerkradio@gmail.com
Also, you can send any suggestions for Bio of the Week or whatnot. Knightward needs some serious competition with the seven or eight bios he threw in our direction a few months back!

Anyway, Jerk Fans, send me some e-mail!

P.S. I will be at MAGFest this year in Alexandria, VA. If you can find me, you MIGHT earn a guest spot on Jerk Radio! Of course, you'd have to compete for space with some other Jerk alumni.
  7. Gasp! Another episode is up! Check your RSS feeds, and iTunes should update soon. Jerk Radio 16 is online!

Well, we got too excited about the Mission Architect, so the devs took it back to the drawing board. New kid on the block Doug Rowell hijacks the podcast AGAIN to talk about his first Statesman TF EVER. Link's in my sig.

Also, if you haven't played it, PLAY MEGA MAN 9. RIGHT NOW.
  8. ...You DO know that TWiT is one of my inspirations. That, and Retronauts.
  9. HAY GUESS WHAT GUYS

    WE'RE DOING THINGS.

Jerk Radio is coming soon. Possibly tonight. Stay tuned!

Story: I moved during the interim between these two episodes. Details are contained in the podcast that I'm putting together now.

    EDIT: EPISODE 15 IS ONLINE

Check your RSS feeds, and iTunes should catch up fairly soon (I hope), but Episode 15 is now online! Thrill as we preview Issue 13!

    Questions, comments, flames to thisisjerkradio@gmail.com
  10. AND YOU CALL YOURSELF ONE OF OUR FANS!!! YOU MAKE ME SICK! I'M ASHAMED TO BE POSTING IN THE SAME THREAD AS YOU! A TRUE FAN WOULD MEMORIZE EVERY SINGLE WORD OF THE PODCAST AS I HAVE (god i hate editing some times)

    ...ahem.

Yeah, we really don't have a set schedule. I started at weekly, and that didn't work, and 2 weeks left me bored for a while, so we've all committed to a binding schedule of "Whenever we feel like it."
  11. Then you didn't listen to the conclusion of our last episode. I'm usually bugging everyone to do an episode every week or so.
  12. Triple Post! Can I at least get a C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER from someone?

Refresh your iTunes feeds and RSS bookmarks. Jerk Radio Episode 14 is online! The actual webpage isn't updated yet, and won't be until I can bug our webmaster.

WARNING: This episode may contain statements that some might construe as racist. This is not true, as we are trying to make a point about the conversation at the moment.

If I put a disclaimer like that on there, then it MUST be good!

    Right?

    ...right?

Anyway, we talk about our mildly successful America's Got Jerks contest, and brainstorm about a new one by one of our newcomers: Paragon Marathon! Listen in for some juicy tidbits about events to come!

For now, I'll just link it directly for those of you who don't have RSS bookmarks or iTunes feeds.

  13. Doubleposting is in my blooooooood! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Anyway, yeah. Update on the RSS front: Within the next day or so, you can find us on the iTunes Store!

I like the way it all looks, for reals. But anyway, if you use iTunes, then subscribe here for ease and convenience!
  14. An addendum to the Paragonian Knights Party cover story:

All of Jerk Radio's coverage is now online at

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/

Look for Episode 13 for the coverage. Part one covers pretty much the pre-party and the Gold/Silver Age costume contest. Part two covers the PVP fights and part three covers Ghost Widow's presence. So, give it a listen if you're intersted, and send us an e-mail if you like it!

    thisisjerkradio@gmail.com

Thanks for the publicity, City Scoop!
  15. ;thumbsup

Thanks for that. Also, yes. I record the entire podcast in a *.WAV format that with Pamela, rather than record straight to MP3. See, when I record to WAV, I have a high kbps, and from there, I can compress it to MP3 without a significant drop in quality.
  16. Double-Post for AWESOME!

Jerk Radio enters the 21st century of these newfangled RSS feeds! Steer your RSS readers to

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/rss.xml

If you use Firefox, the address bar has an RSS icon that you can click to subscribe to our feed! Now you can get your Jerk Radio fix without having to mess around with our clunky website! But check the website out anyway! We've moved older podcasts to a separate page, and we even have cast bios now! GLEE!

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/

And remember, any comments or suggestions for Jerk Radio to

    thisisjerkradio@gmail.com

    Thanks!

Major EDIT! -- The above RSS feed is now compatible with iTunes! Click 'Advanced', click 'Subscribe to Podcast', then paste in the URL for the RSS link. It'll download our latest podcast, and you can expand the podcast and download any of our previous episodes. We're probably going to truncate the RSS feed to the 20 most recent episodes...once we get 20, that is.
  17. Jerk Radio goes nuts! Two more episodes to conclude the Paragonian Knights Summer 2008 Beach Party coverage!

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/

Part 2 is our coverage of the Arena PVP fights! Shock! Awe! Ghost Widow shows up!

Part 3 is our coverage of when Ghost Widow showed up. It's actually pretty boring. Afterward, myself, OHakubi, Trace Evans, and Tony Strickland come together to celebrate the conclusion of our first season! Yay us!

Questions, comments or anything, please send it to our e-mail address:

  18. Amazing what you can do with eight hours, no?
  19. [ QUOTE ]
o_o I think I remember the Circle of Jerks. They are...well, um... well, jerks! <- Yay for bad puns.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    That's Jerks. Jerks. With a capital J.

EDIT: Also, Luficia. If you listen to the other episodes, you might find you're mentioned somewhere else!
  20. Doublepost OOOO NAUGHTY

Anyway, I'm in the process of uploading Part 2 of episode 13. It's over an hour and a half, so those that are of the faint of heart might give it a pass...OR NOT, BECAUSE IT WAS THE MOST AWESOME PART OF THE PARAGONIAN KNIGHTS 2008 SUMMER BEACH PARTY.

Seriously, in this episode, we commentate the Arena Archetype PVP fights. It was a lot of fun, and Jerk Radio's OHakubi took second place in the Scrapper fight with a pre-I4 build. TAKE THAT, KNIGHTWARD.

Ahem. It'll be up within the hour.
  21. Episode 13 Part 1 is online!

In this episode, OHakubi and myself make fools of ourselves at the 2008 Summer Beach Party hosted by the Paragonian Knights and Radio FTW! The whole thing lasted about five hours, and rather than subject you people to the pain of sitting through five hours of myself and Hak making complete Jerks of ourselves (which I seriously considered for about thirty seconds), I split it up a bit. Part 1 includes some stuff about costume contests.

Also, Grae Knight's reputation on the Virtue server is shot. Listen and you'll find out why!

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/

C'mooooooon, hate mail! Also, I'm looking for someone to say "Previously, on Jerk Radio...". Just send me a recording of you to the e-mail address below, and if I use you, I'll make sure you get recognition for it! So, c'moooooooon, voice clips!

    thisisjerkradio@gmail.com
  22. This will be the be-all, end-all thread for all things Jerk Radio. Now, this episode that went up today has actually been done for about 2 weeks or so, but that's all beside the point. Anyway, the news that we discuss in it is no longer timely, but that makes it even better as the EPIC FAIL episode. In this episode, Trace Evans, OHakubi, and Adam Nelson berate a whiny kid for the devs closing The Testing Room to fix a problem in the game. Then we read bios. Good ones, bad ones, and AWFUL ONES. It's sort of a thing where we read stuff that doesn't make the cut. I'm also considering instituting a "finders fee" program. If you send us a bio, news thing, or whatever that we end up using on Jerk Radio, we'll give you a shout-out! So E-mail us, you masses!

Anyway, as for the episode, go here.

    Jerk Radio

Episode 11 of Jerk Radio is online!

    http://jerkradio.teampseg.com/

In this episode, OHakubi steals the microphone again and hops on his soapbox yet again, ranting about character concepts. You can't hide from Hak's pre-scripted wrath!

Comments/Questions/Concerns/BAWWWW goes to either Hak's e-mail at the end of the podcast, or to
