"Woah, what the hell."
Nether felt as though she had stalled, but only for a split second. The scene down below hadn't changed at all.
It was the girl.
"So the newest addition to our little game has some power."
She could see Garret in the waters below the statue, and it look as though he didn't want much to do with the fight going on below. Looking up she saw Aoleleb just as he disappeared.
"I'm pretty sure he's not going to be able to escape that easily. Unless the brute forgot that he had the device."
With that, she stepped back from the ledge, and for the third time today, began scrying out the device. -
((Wonder what happened to Garret and Aoleleb...))
-
"Interesting, he's saved all his good tricks. And she apparently has a bag full of them left."
She stood on the roof, on foot on the rooftop, one on the raised edge. She wove an intricate pattern in the air, leaving behind a symbol etched in inky black lines. The symbol faded from view moments later.
"Now it's down to timing..."
((Looks like it's time Nether stepped it up a notch, if she's going to play with the big dogs.)) -
*whistle* "I've gotta learn how to do that"
From her vantage point on the building, Nether had seen the whole thing.
She folds time. Each fold allows her to move backwards or forwards through time.
She momentarily thought about joining the fray, see how Syne could handle two assailants at the same time. That is, until she saw that it was raining electrical mud bombs.
"This isn't going to be pretty..." -
Nether stopped when she noticed Garret shimmer and end up looking like her.
"What the.. Maybe I should sit this one out till it clears out a little bit."
Climbing up to the roof of a nearby warehouse to get a better view of the action, she got to the top in time to see Aoleleb send a concentrated tornato at Garret, and Garret diving off the statue.
Looks like I missed the action she thought. Time to go back in.
Not yet. Look.
She could sense Loc'ataro pointing. Looking in the direction, she saw Syne drop to the ground. It almost looked like there was a trail of Synes behind her. Shaking her head, she looked again. This time there was just one. Lets see what you can do.
That one is dangerous. The others are mere pawns in this game.
((Even though Loc'ataro is contained inside Nether's head, he isn't helpless. Think of him like an omni-sense that can see in all directions, like a spider sense of sorts, but much more powerful. He's also a demon of no small power, so yeah... And with the inclusion of Syne I may need to start using him more XD))
((Oh, and Nether's still cloaked.)) -
((Don't worry this thread isn't dead yet, I've had a lot of things happen all at once and haven't had time to sit down and work on this))
-
((Ah ok, the way you put it made it sound like you saw me coming up to the statue))
-
((Wait, so not only is Aoleleb master of every element, he can see through invisibility, and cloak himself in the process O.o))
-
((Sorry Diov, but I didn't want to try and deal with fighting a room full of Arachnos, and I totally forgot about the fortunas. But aren't they able to see into the future, not read minds? They just have psionic attacks ingame cause it's the closest they could get.))
"I saw the statue at the southern end of the island, so that must be where it's at."
Nether began heading south towards the statue. As she got closer to the docks, the statue came into view. She noticed Aoleleb atop it, though she didn't feel like getting into another fight, knew she had to get the device back.
Getting out of sight of the statue, she conjured a shadow cloak about herself and headed back around the corner towards the statue. -
Crap Thinking quickly...
"Damn that hero, I was this close." She does a motion showing a very small space.
"Stupid 'Destine Ones,'" an Arbiter says.
They went back to doing what they were doing. Making her way to the door as villainishly as she could, Nether exited the tower. Quietly making a shadow door she stepped through back to Paragon City, Steel Canyon to be exact.
"Ahh, it's nice to be back."
Her portal deposited her on a skyscrapper roof. And once again she sits herself down and begins scrying for the device.
"Peregrine Island is it? We can do that."
With that, she opened another doorway to PI, ending in the middle of Portal Corp Plaza. -
"Hmmm... this is a predicament. I'm drifting in space, the device is gone, that brute has been knocked out cold, the Storm Palace exploded, there's a rogue portal where it used to be, and on top of everything, my pants are ripped. Seems like a pretty productive day."
Below her she could see H'taed falling rapidly. Remembering he still had his beacon on him, she made her body as sleek as possibly to speed up her fall and aim herself at his body. After a couple minutes she finally caught up. Searching his body, she found the beacon.
"Sorry big guy, but you messed with the wrong girl. Here goes nothing."
With that she activated the beacon, praying it didn't drop her in the middle of a villain infested hole. -
((Sorry it took so long guys, got busy with some friends))
Nether looked up in time to see H'taed's overhead smash, and luckily block it. The blow knocked the device out of her hands and flying into the distance.
"Great!"
In the midst of the mid-air fight, she tried to manuever her legs towards H'taed. Using on of his punches as leverage, she turned over and pushed off his chest with her legs, launching herself in the direction the device flew. -
Always one to remain cool even when most normal people would be freaking out, she pulled out the device.
"Looking for this?" she yelled back up at him.
She may be falling forever, but it gave her time to figure out how the device worked. -
((You said you were coming towards me, not that you were already there, I was just waiting for you :P))
The punch smashed into her, square in the back. She flew head over heels into her shadow gate, but since she hadn't finished the spell, it dissapated behind her. See as H'taed wasn't stopping anytime soon, she went for her contingency plan.
Standing up near the edge of the island, she prayed that her Shard Teleportation Beacon was still active. If this worked the Beacon would activate and instantly teleport her to Fire Base Zulu.
"Thanks for the fun, and.. ouch *winces* the pains. And good luck getting to where I'm going."
With that she stepped back, off the edge of the island. -
"Phew, that was a close one."
She let out a sigh, and got up.
"Time to start moving, any longer and the whole of the Rularuu might be down on me."
She began conjuring a portal to take her back to Paragon City. -
Still in her meditation position, and eyes still closed.
"Thank you for the help, but unfortunately it was a lost cause. Right after the massive detonation you caused, I lost the device on the way out. I'm trying to locate it now. I would suggest you start looking for it too if you're keen on finding it."
She knew her life would be over if it wasn't for him, but she wasn't about to reveal that she still had the device, especially some stranger that just showed up.
((I know he's a dimensional traveler and such, but if you say he can read minds too, it's all over. And technically I don't think H'taed can't use the lightning to transport in the Shards anymore. You yourself pointed out that he could because of the Storm Palace, which isn't there anymore.)) -
((OK basically, Aoleleb's partners in crime stabilized the portal momentarily, but with Lanaruu not concentrating on it anymore, the huge blast created by Aoleleb, and the intrusion of the GoPC HQ portal tech, destabilized it. Least that's how I'm interpreting it.))
-
((Heh, 2 ways out my [censored]
))
Last thing Nether knew was her flying towards the portal in a heap with Aoleleb. She landed on the floor with a thud. Blinking, she looked around to find several very disgruntled looking Rularuu barring down on her. Lanaruu was no where to be found. The portal looked as though it had stablilized, but was rapidly closing. The little information she knew about portals was that after a massive power surge in or around one, they have a tendency to implode.
She knew she had to get out of their quickly. Running for the door as fast as she could, she could hear the crackling energies of the portal and pounding of Rularuu footsteps behind her. She flew out of the Storm Palace like a bat out of hell and headed for the nearest island. From a safe distance, the Storm Palace looked as though it was being erased from the inside. As the outer walls began to disintegrate the whole thing exploded.
What was left when the dust had settled was a small portal about 3ft in diameter. Lightning was crackling around it, and the inside was swirling uncontrolably.
"Either those two actually made it through or they're stuck, but it doesn't matter now; I've got the device."
With that she found a quiet spot, considering most of the Rularuu were surging to where the Storm Palace used to be to find out what happend, and began meditating. She needed to regain her strength and figure a way to get the package from the device.
((I figured you might need the portal to still be there to get out, but if not w/e)) -
OOC
Lawl, Element_Master L2Read.. j/k j/k
Yeah, figured it would make things much more interesting if we all got thrown into the portal. And like I said, the amount of energy flowing through Nether at this point will most likely keep her alive during her trip through the portal, but it'll hurt like hell, maybe singe of the top couple layers of skin off.
And besides, H'taed's basically living lightning or pretty close, and apparently Aoleleb knows the inner workings of portals, so we should be able to get out of this XD -
Seeing the device land infront of her, Nether dove for it. As she came up from the roll, device in hand, she could see everything's gone to hell. Hearing deep rumbling, she quickly put the device in her pocket and looked up and around.
"[censored]..."
Lanaruu was closing down from above, and all the Rularuu from the ring were barring down on her. Timing it perfectly, Nether unleased the full power of Loc'ataro on the surrounding Rularuu ((Think Soul Drain + Cloak of Fear + Deathshroud + Opressive Gloom)). That stopped the first wave, but she still had more coming, and it didn't look like it was stopping. She knew how to handle large fights like this by herself, but the sheer numbers along with a psionically unstable being of pury hatred didn't make it look very good.
Holding them off was her only route, she would never be able to fight all of them at once. Even Lanaruu's mighty attacks didn't seem to break her. But unfortunately the volume of hits took their toll. She could feel her concentration slipping, right about the time Lanaruu's foot slammed into her.
Flying backwards, she slammed into Aoleleb, shattering his anchor and sending them both straight for the still unstable portal. Still in the folds of Loc'ataro's power, she knew the portal probably wouldn't destroy her, but it was going to hurt going through... -
((Damn, I'm sorry Thunder, hope it works out O.o))
-
((I wonder if everyone else is waiting for us to get out of this, or just gave up
))
Nether was about halfway to H'taed when he suddenly used the boulders as improvised stairs. She skidded to a halt, and watched as H'taed lasoed Aoleleb's leg and began climbing up. The bomb in H'taed's hand was glowing malevolently, itching to be released.
Thinking quickly, Nether conjured a ball of darkness into her hand and launched it at H'taed. If it hit, Aloleleb might be given enough time to get out of the laso. If not, there was one less person for her to worry about. -
((I figured as much, and being an Electrical Engineering major, it's not very often you find someone that knows about magnetics and polar fields))
