Bridger thank you for replying. I play MMORPGs from the time of MUDs and Shadowdale in particular...thats a lot as you can see.

I havent yet seen a community leader with such a participation and ready answers as you. Thank you.

As a customer, i will be your nemesis, however with the best and goodhearted intention towards you, the community,and of course the game.

Regarding the quote...its different than the answer in the FAQ. The FAQ answer is disheartening and does not imply the "looking into part". However the answer you just gave here in the forums, says "we are looking into it" which at least means that, all hopes are not lost at least regarding the character transfer!

Seriously now...how hard is to have a definite answer ?

Are you looking into character transfers still or the matter is closed ?

I ask because in the EU/UK FAQ Bridger/Rockjaw says what we already know. That a character transfer service is not available. Here however he says that they are looking into it !

Please people...an official answer. Looking into it means we may get it or not. So again...no need to play our US chars anymore. BUT if its going to be done...but the time of implementation is unknown...then we can continue playing in US atleast until the EU version becomes available !

Also..since Rockjaw/Bridger here said that the game WILL be available for download, BUT in the EU FAQ there is no such clarification...may i ask if at least the comment about us being able to download the client to play in the Euro servers and not being forced to buy it in retail is still true ???

I am awaiting an official response please !

Thank you for browsing the UK FAQ to enlighten us Luudo ! Hopefully you will quiet things down with this.

After this, we know that there is a great chance we dont need to pay again for the game client.

Now...do we start from scratch on the Euro server or a character transfer service will be implemented ? Now that a "confirmation" of efforts to do the right thing is here...and now that we know after Luudo's post that perhaps we can use the same client...and already knowing that a character transfer tool exists from the live servers to the training room, how hard is it to develop a character transfer service between US and EU servers ???

I know it should be an account transfer service...not a single char transfer service, and i know you have to solve problems like alt char transfers when the server is going to have limited space but please people: NCSoft is not like others. You care about the community and it is proven countless times. Dont let us down. Let us play with our old characters - whom we love and care about and invested sleepless nights to develop them (sleepless due to the time differential) - in EU servers!

NCSoft people, you know you will win the hearts of even the most unmanageable and disaggreable of your customers if you let us keep our old chars and of course if you let us play them on EU servers.

I know that introducing high-level chars in new servers is disruptive to the player run economy on the new server but that affects games that actually have eonomy...like SWG and EQ2. In CoH there is no such case...so please give as a definite answer about the possibility of a transfer !!! Because right now...there is a huge number of EU players who stoped playing because they are afraid to invest time on the characters they play on US servers because they dont know if they can transfer them to EU.

So...perhaps a response is in order ? Please ? Because the monthly fee is counting...and we dont play (at least many of us EU people) with the same appetite. Because we dont know if we are going to say farewell to our chars...

And i know you will say..."continue playing on US then".

And our answer is..."playing on EU time...is a big plus...so much bigger than keeping a char".

But hey...people who want to play their old US chars in the EU servers ARE actualy the majority.

And my last argument is...(and in my opinion money comes second than sentimentality)...money ! Dont forget the investment of $14/month we have payed in order NOT ONLY to playthe game...but in order TO ACTUALLY CONTINUE PROGRESSING...

I agree with WoW launching that way...but WoW FROM THE START stated that European servers WILL BE AVAILABLE IN FEBRUARY 2005. That way European people did not start characters on US servers because the KNEW that in 3-4 months they will be able to play on our home turf.Knowing THAT, we have not started WoW in the US in order also to avoid the grief caused by having to abandon our US friends/characters to be able to play in good timezones when EU servers became available.

However CoH is not like that. CoH has an already established European base that plays on US servers. Talk about grief a char transfer server is not available !!! Dont compare CoH EU launch with WoW. WoW notified me at the START to wait for EU servers ! Hence they correctly dont offer character transfer service ! On the other hand CoH is obliged to offer a character service because there are thousands of Europeans who will WANT (i am among them) to retain their hardf won progress...and finaly finaly finaly play in their timezones with their hard won character !!! So...a character transfer service is needed, required, requested and demanded.

And something else: Right now, many of us...many many of us Europeans...dont play CoH anymore, because we DONT know IF we will be able to retain our hard won hero characters ! So...we have the game on hold and we dont play anymore. Just because we dont have an answer about the char transfer. I am a programmer, usualy, when they ask me something about thigs I have developed i usually answer at once. If its something old...i look at the documentation and reply in a few hours/mins depending. I know Bridger you did not develop CoH, but you have access to the ones that had ! Arent they knowledgeable enough to reply regarding their architecture and IF it allows for a char transfer service ? They are excellent software engineers, not like other we all know and hate. Its a simple answer and i call upon the community not to drop the character transfer issue.

I agree with everything the poster says. I need clarification on this too. I am planning to play tonight. But why play when i am about to lose the char ? Why invest time on him since perhaps i will not be able to transfer him to Europe ? And i request a character transfer service because i have invested money on this char. I NEED to retain him.

Please...tell us that we can continue playing our chars in US servers till the EU version becomes available. I dont mind paying for the EU version. I dont mind paying for char transfer from US to EU.

What i want though is:

An account transfer service from US to EU. Its simple economics. I pay for a product, which i love. Part of the product is the time sacrifice i made, to develop a character. By denying to me the chance to take my char to Europe,you give me an unsatisfactory product. The product is not only the game client people. Its the chars, the time invested, and all other sentimental things. This MUST NOT BE DENIED TO EU PEOPLE WHO PLAY IN THE US. I dont mind paying (personal thing anyway) but i will cry tears for losing him. Time wasted ??? Yes. So clarify the transfer situation.

Fellow forum participants i would like to indicate to you a small issue regarding refering to European players as UK players:

There are lots of Swedish, French, German, Swiss, Greek(i am one of them) who are Europeans although not from the UK. So please, refer to us as Europeans.

I stress this issue because when character/account transfers from US servers to UK servers happen, then the criteria for the transfer should not be the billing address of the person but if this is the criteria (which i doubt) then European addresses in general should be considered...not only UK ones.

This post against UK people. I have studied for 6 years in the UK and love the country. Just dont forget that there are other people who will request a transfer...and they dont reside in the UK.

Please, NCSoft customer support/service and European players, read below an important message i sent to the COH Europe (which is about to launch). They dont have a forum as of yet, but they have a question facility which i used to ask the following:

I am playing City of Heroes with US friends for many months now...in US servers.

So...the questions are 4 and they are the ones i am sure people all over Europe (who play in US servers with the downloaded version of the game from NCSOft's US site) ask you !

So here they are:

1. We who play using the client we downloaded from NCSOft US site...will we be able to use the same client for the European servers ? Hopefully yes because paying AGAIN for a game i alreadfy own and play a long time...is pretty difficult for many of us.

2. If we are able to use the client to play in European servers...will we be able to use the same client to play on the US servers as well ? I have invested a considerable amount of time to teh chars i have on the US servers and of course, dont want to lose them.Also many currecty-generation MMORPGS except WoW let players play with the same client to bith continent's servers. And please dont forget that i and lots of others have invested about $300 to this game already and it will be great pity if we lose our characters or if we are not able to transfer them to Europe, or at least if we are not able to play them on the US servers (having also chars on the European servers as well).

3. Will the game client be available for download from NCSOft europe as well

4. Will there be a character transfer service from the US server to the European server (even with a fee...i dont care).

So...as you can see...since NCSoft UK ALLOWED us to buy and download the game from their server, and since they bill us Europeans who play on US servers, that means that it was not illegal that we played on US servers all this time! So at least a character transfer service must be available.

Please, i know there are MANY people asking you these and an answer is still not forthcoming.

I please urge you to answer. Your customer service is excellent, the best i have seen in every aspect of the game, so i know that my (and the european community's) questions will be answered to our satisfaction, with your usual standard of excellence.

So...please dont flame, try and answer the questions if you know anything. Of course this is primarily directed to Customer Support or other NCSoft related people, but we Europeans also need the support of the US players for this to succeed (meaning getting an answer to our questions and hopefully a satisfactory one !)

I also dont want to alienate NCSoft people or create another problem for their heads. But i am SURE they know about it...and an answer will be forthcoming. NCSoft people, your game is amazing, your service even better and frequent tweaks and expansions prove that you care for us and for your product... THIS i cannot say for ANY other MMORPG. So please answer.

I apologise if the post is in the wrong thread. It was the only close to the subject i coud find ! But feel free to move it if you want.

So...in summary:

1. Will we Europeans who play on US servers be able to transfer our characters to the European servers ?
1a) If yes, all is ok. No gripes !!! Hehehe !
1b) If no...then at least will we be able to use the game client to play in both Europeans and US servers ? And we are asking that because we need a way (transfer or the ability to play in both continent's servers) to retain our hard earned characters and progress (I played till 4am to reach the place i am) cause i love love love the game !!!

2. Will we be able to download the game client like we did from NCSoft US ??? (This in the case the currect client does not work for Europe)
2a) This will be bad because we have already payed $49 to download the clienbt from the US site...but hey...i will pay again if the new client allows me to retain and play my character on the US server, and also allows me to play on the European server as well)
