Is there any other "missions" like this in the game where you have to kill a certain number of critters (ghosts) and then you get to talk to someone?

ok heres another one...what are trials and when are they available. One of my friends said that he had one in Port Oaks (lvl 15 or so)

I looked in the guide to guides but found nothing that really helps
