With Carnada's valuable feedback, we figured out these little details:

<ul type="square">[*]Fastest method is to have the player advancing for the badger to defeat his/her matched opponent while all others exit their own matches.[*]Some matches will pull in a 3rd participant during the second round. Proceed as usual. One will likely be kicked out automatically. [*]Sometimes the one supposed to advance will not. We thought staying in the arena until the timer expired (after defeating the opponent) helped, but then later on it happened again despite this. Leaving before the defeated opponent did not change this outcome. No clue what is happening there.[*]We saw a match where the badger advanced through all 3 levels... facing the same opponent each time. Badge was awarded nonetheless.[/list]

UPDATE:

It seems I made a mistake in converting 6PM Pacific to 10PM Eastern. I just now found out. It should have been 9PM Eastern, so in 10 minutes.

Also, some players have already started their own tourney, so I don't know if they'll be available for scheduled run.

If you see me, send me a tell and we'll see if we have the minimum required to run this tonight, or we we need to postpone.


I'm not thrilled about this outcome.

This is one of those badges Sam that, even if you win every match you're in, might not reach the top of the tournament elimination.

There's something weird going on where winners are not automatically moved up in the ladder. There is apparently some sort of calculation and randomness going on in the background as well.

The trick is for all matches the badge hunter is not in to exit without fighting, including the badge hunter's matched opponent, leaving only him/her in a position where advancement is forced.

So this one would fall squarely into the "must be organized / farmed to obtain" category, much like the healing or damage taken badges.

If he can't make t tonight and Friday is more suitable, I'm sure we can drum up the minimum requirements to get him rolling. I may even have 2 accounts available to help (if wifey isn't using it).

That's another thing I like about badging: It's a bit like golf.

Sure, you compare your count with your buddies but in the end it's not a competition against other players. It's really more a competition against yourself and the environment you're placed in.

So yeah, if we can keep helping each other out like this to increase each other's badge counts, I'm all for it.

Since you're available and Oz hasn't confirmed, perhaps we can work something out - or ask Syanth to move one of his alts to the next team so everyone has a shot with their mains.

Ozmosis, Knowmad, my wife and I were talking about this PvP badge we still need the other night, and thought there was no better way to get this done than to propose the idea on the Protector forum.

So who still needs the Tournament Victor badge and what are your availabilities in the next few days?

If I can set aside 3 spots for the aforementioned PvP badge buddies here, we can still set up as many 8 (or more) person teams we need to accomodate everyone in the next few days.

Badge Tip of the day: For those still looking for Pentad Victor: just find a buddy with the same archetype as your badge hunter, create a timed Pentad match and start it with only you 2 participating. Alternately exit the match for the other to receive badge. That is correct: You don't need a member of each AT on said teams for this to work.

But more seriously, you couldn't do that then either, without risking getting reported and probably on the receiving end of a suspension / banning. Pulling monsters into Portal Corps was officially listed as a "bannable griefing / offense", and I know that TP trick was as well.

Personally, I'm a strict non-PLer, non-farmer... most days.

If badges are involved, I *will* farm the crap out of them. Some have repeatable missions for fun, some do PvP, I have badges. To each his own.

PLing, I'll submit to if that's what the team is doing and nothing else interesting is going on, or if I'm enjoying the company of the people I'm teamed with, but I won't do it myself for others - even for my wife or kids.

To me, the ride is more important than the goal when it comes to leveling, and I've seen to many people get to 50, start PLing their alts, and then leave the game entirely because it's "boring... has nothing to do one you reach 50, etc." Others yet still tend to collect lecvel 50s like I do badges.

I'm glad to see there are other old timers like me (July 2004) still around who find their enjoyment not exclusively in what the game has to offer, but in the social interaction it also provides.
