Is the Bruiser difficult to control? I know that at release, there were major problems with his hand clap knocking enemies back, to the point where a lot of Thug MMs just didn't give him that upgrade. From what I've seen of Time, it looks like a fairly active set, which I like. And the heals might let me be a little more crazy than Bots/Traps does, since I'll have more margin of error.
A resistance build Demons/Thermal sounds tempting too, but I'm not sure I could find a way to justify the concept for RP like I could with Thugs. I've never been big on magic concept characters. -
I've been itching to do a new character, and when it comes down to it, Masterminds are really the only archetype that I've thoroughly enjoyed. Sure, they have their problems, but gul darnit are they fun. My current main is a Bots/Traps whom I adore, but she's kind of at a point where there isn't anything else I can do with her. Her IO build, focused on defense, is cheap but totally effective, and I can't see any way to improve it.
So I'd like to start something new! My prerequisite for this is that I don't want either Bots or Traps in this build. I know that things like "best" are hotbutton words for class powers, so I'll establish that I'm looking for something different than a Tankermind, since that's what I already have. Maybe a set based on spamming the "Attack my target" button and unleashing hell on large group. I also have a fondness for pets that don't require a massive amount of micro-management, though I know this might be tricky when taking bots out of the equation. I have about six billion inf to spend on this character, so I don't mind dropping some moolah on her. Right now I'm leaning heavily towards Thugs because I have an RP concept in mind for it, and I've heard that it's up there with bots as top-tier.
Any thoughts? Does anyone have any build they're running that's been an unexpected powerhouse?
Edit: Think I'm going to focus on Thugs. But still unsure of a secondary. -

Booth and Judamaru are currently dominating the poll, too. >.> -
Bah! I made this thread last week, then work and the comic got craaaaazy hectic, and I forgot all about it! @_@ I haven't heard of that channel before, I'll join it when I log in this weekend and see if I can sniff anything out.
Jack: Mostly looking for interactive RP. I'm writing some story based stuff for my SG forum, but ultimately if I have free time I'm much more inclined to hop in game and RP than write stuff out. -
And two links! First is for the day's comic: http://wootlabs.thewebcomic.com/comi...ffice-romance/
Second is for the Maniacal March voting! Pleeeeeeease take a moment and vote for your fave; it's a user poll that'll dictate which villain gets the spotlight during the month of March: http://wootlabs.thewebcomic.com/mmarch/ -
Thanks guys! <3
I forgot to link Monday's comic:

Tonight there'll be a new one up. And a new promotion that lets readers speak up for what they want March's comics to be about. -

I didn't notice the community change in any significant way. But then, I think it's the kind of thing a lot of people went into it with bad impressions to begin with. Look for reasons to be angry, you'll find them. If anything, I've found teams easier to get, and the game maintained surprisingly active all through ToR's release. (Something I -didn't- notice during other, smaller game releases.)
As for must buy's, that really depends on your playstyle. Most of the new sets have received really positive reviews, but by the same token they're -everywhere,- and if you like feeling unique you're better off staying old school. I'm not a fan of the travel powers at all; mostly because they detoggle some toggles and turn into a hassle. If you don't have the martial arts pack, though, the ninja run is quite nice. -
I don't play Woot herself much these days; it's kinda hard keeping her RP self and her comic self straight.
But look for Opening Statement for sure!

Hey all.
I'm kinda trying this out as an experiment; see if it's possible to actually get ahold of people for some RP angles through the forums. Recently, I've been focusing on just one character, and I'm very happy with her. The only problem is that she doesn't really get as much story development as I'd like. I've been on CoH for years and years, but I've always been a part of a small group that is no longer much around, leaving me without a core unit of RPers. I absolutely hate going to the D because it feels like all anyone there looks for is hookups and MRP; two things this character isn't interested in at -all.-
Anyways! My character in question is named Opening Statement; she's a younger take an old lawyer character I used to have. (Technically, she's that character's daughter.) Her VirtueVerse is at: http://www.virtueverse.net/wiki/Opening_statement Though before you read it, probably best to get an idea of what I'm looking for.
The character recently joined the Hyperion Force, leaving Isles life behind to try her hand at being a hero. I'm very into RPing the 'normal person' vibe with her. She's not superpowered, she's in over her head, and she knows it. I'd like for her to befriend a few existing heroes outside of her supergroup, to try to learn the trade some without feeling embarassed before her peers. A sidepoint is that she's now living in Paragon, and simply needs to make friends. People to interact with regularly, since the actual gameplay of CoH doesn't really draw me in like it used to. All about the story at this point. >.> So meeting some folks to get involved with their stories and vice versa would be great.
The character is very upbeat and friendly; and very good aligned, if a bit chaotic. The VV page shows all the pertinent details; including her history and background. I'm fine with either group or one-on-one RP, though in the latter I have a tendency to fall into more longwinded, multi-para posts. Also, I'm EST and work a 9-5 job, just for the sake of timing.
Thanks for reading! -
I'm thirty-one, and was very resistant to the show at first, partially because two of my friends were so AGRESSIVE about it. But I finally started watching it earlier last year, and I've been pretty hooked on it since. To give you an idea about my TV habits; I don't have any cable service at all. No channels. No new shows appeal to me, and I haven't enjoyed a TV sitcom since Malcolm in the Middle. I'll watch shows on NetFlix, sure, but they're all things like Kids in the Hall, Avatar: The Last Airbender, shows that have basically been said and done by now. Even Simpsons, which I prided myself in watching regularly every week, holds zero interest for me anymore.
So basically, MLP is the only show I actually look forward to watching new episodes of. >.> For a lot of reasons. I don't think I'd qualify myself as a brony, simply for the same reason that I wouldn't want to be called a Trekkie because I happened to like DS9. The show's genuinely funny, has likeable characters, and we live in a society where ALL of our media has been saturated with sex and dirtier jokes. I freaking love the fact that I can sit down in front of MLP and laugh like I used to while watching The Cosby Show growing up.
(It also helps that Tara Strong was one of my favorite voice actors long before MLP.) -

Quote:I need to send you the bigger one at some point, things have just been a bit hectic.I wasn't sure if it was me in that poster
Thank you! I love the little appearance there and its a cute poster!
Anyways, Monday's comic:

Quote:Only one crit; page layout on this one was hella confusing to follow. I did get kinda lost.
Still love the comic though, and faved the homepage now
Thanks.
The origin comics are meant to be just a little hard to follow; partially because they're told half from a character's memory. The only other one I've done so far is the Pengi one, which I think is harder to follow. (Or at least harder to piece everything together.)
http://wootlabs.thewebcomic.com/comi...penguins-tale/
But yah, that's intentionl. -
I'm going to stop posting the actual images in the thread for a few reasons. One; it's taking an eternity to load on my phone. >.> Two, people actually visiting the website really helps me out. Each hit pushes me higher up on SJ's most popular webcomic list. (Last I checked, we're on page 17 out of like 500, so not bad!
)
Anyways! Today's Wootlabs has a little something for everyone! Video game references, the name of the city the comic takes place in finally revealed, a character's origin story, girls kissing other girls, and a cameo appearance by someone from the CoH boards!

I return! Thanks for holding the fort down for me, everyone.
Here's Thursday's comic:
-
I got done with tomorrow's holiday comic a little early. Early enough to sneak in and post it before I lapse.
Happy holidays everyone!
-
That'd be great, Neko, I really appreciate it.
I'll leave it in your capable yet mischevious hands!
-
Jsut an update. I'm going to be letting this month's subscription lapse, because the usual holiday money madness. So I won't be able to update the thread. I'll be available ingame from time to time at @Square Woot, and my E-mail is chip_chocolate@hotmail.com should anyone need to drop me a line.
The comic will still be updated on the Monday and Thursday schedule; and this Thursday in particular I'm putting up a rather long comic for the holiday that tells one of the character's origins.
Hope everyone has a fantastic holiday, I'll talk to ya'll in the New Year!
