    Oldies!

    Hello Pyra!

Oh, I remember when our main (and first) took some stumbling steps together in the frightening place called Talos Island.

I'm still here, logging on with Poison spine every now and then. And Fae is also here, more often than me. Although she's been upgraded from gf to wife.

Nice to have you back. See you online.
  2. I read about the game during the US launch, then forgot it. Several months later I decided to check up the game just to notice that there was a beta for EU servers going on. I jumped in, and played the last week on the beta servers before they went live. I was there beating the Winterlord and his snowy minions out of Paragon City.

I was hooked, bought the big box and got to start one day ahead of the rest. And I immediately gave the side-kick code to my girlfriend (now wife, and soon-to-be mother of my first child ) Fae.

We've been bashing villains and heroes ever since.
  3. I guess things are stirring in the US also.

    This from CuppaJo's twitter:
"oh good grief. Hugs NC Austin QA."

It occured to me that the reason for consolodating NCSoft's western operations was in the hope of finding a buyer.

    Since no buyer has appeared...

    [/ QUOTE ]

Well, then the news might be that NCSoft West breaks free from NCSoft to be an independant corp, owning all stuff created from the west and NCSoft keeps all asian developed games.

Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing? I don't know...

General rule-of-thumb: if you need to hook into the executable then it's almost certainly not allowed.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This is not needed. The process thread of the CoH reveals the current Zone in it's name. But if you are in an instance it will keep the name of the Zone used to enter it.

Both Herostats and Synapse use this information.

But what I would need to get my "Custom Mission Generator" to work is pulling the X, Y and Z coordinates out the logged on toon. So far I have not succeeded.

It would be soooo nice if the new policy at NCNC actually allowed the devs to produce an API for us 3rd party tool makers.

Have look at this thread for my ideas:

  6. Just to give you a little background info.

Me and my girlfriend started playing right after the beta. I created Posion spine and she the Faerie Queen. Shortly afterwards we realized that a scrapper and a tanker didn’t survive long together so she made a new character Fae, an empath. Fae and Poison spine became our first lvl 50.

But all of our background stories are interconnected and now Faerie Queen slowly struggles her way up to 50. As I love my girlfriend, Poison spine loves the Faerie Queen as you can see from our background stories (here and ingame)

    Poison spine
In the Faerie realm Poison spine served as a general for the Tuatha de Danann until he was forced into exile into the mundane world. While serving the kingdom he had lost his heart to the Faerie Queen and she to him. The met in secret but was exposed by a spy. Apparently it was not proper for a common faerie to court the Queen and the faerie council ruled he had to go. He accepted his fate and left the green kingdom and the Queen assuring her that he would save his heart for her should he be able to return in a few centuries.

The mundane world has changed a lot and humans have accepted that creatures from other dimensions might exist. So here he is making a living as what the common man would call a hero. For him it is nothing, this was the way he lived in the dreamy otherworld he calls home, the way of the warrior fighting for those who needs protection.

The fighting in this world helps him endure the time he is away from his love. Neither time, nor distance, will ever stop him from loving her.

    Faerie Queen
The Faerie Queen ruled in Faerieland and all was well, until a generals fell in love with her. This was not proper and at first she rejected him. But she could not fool her heart and before long they met in secret. When the council finally found out they would have punished the general by death but since the Queen had him in his heart he was exiled from the Faerieland instead.

Years passed, but the Queen could not forget the sweet and brave general. In her heart she knew him to be the right to be her husband. She also knew the faerie council would never allow her to marry a commoner. In secret she sent her for her personal scryer to find the general. He was found in the mundane world and the Queen took her most daring decision ever, to abandon her throne and leave the Faerieland in search of her lover.

She found him in a he city called Paragon and true to his calling he had continued to fight for justice like so many other mundanes with power under the name Poison spine. As lovers they now fight side-by-side.

Any, here’s a love song that Poison spine sings to his Faerie Queen. Coincidentally the lyric goes very well with the song “Every Breath You Take” by Police. Here’s a link to a MIDI file that you can use to sing a long: Every Breath you take, Police

    And here's the song:

    Every badge you take
    Every inf you make
    Every crook you stake
    Every crime you break
    I’ll be watching you

    Every zone explained
    Every debt regained
    Every level trained
    Every power gained
    I’ll be watching you

    Go on, exemp me
    I will teach for free
    I don’t mind the cost
    For every XP lost

    Every train you ride
    Every contact pried
    Every mission tried
    Every time you died
    I’ll be watching you

All I want is that you come to the superbase
Our supergroup has got one empty space
Your battle cry, you moves are such a grace
I feel debuffed without your buff embrace
I keep crying baby, baby, please...

    Go on, exemp me
    I will teach for free
Take my inf in a trade
    And your new costume’s paid

    Every Hellion grilled
    Every Freakshow killed
    Every Council billed
    Every Tsoo gut spilled
    I’ll be watching you

    Every insp you pop
    Every salvage drop
    I’ll be watching you

    I’ll be watching you
    I’ll be watching you
    I’ll be watching you
    I’ll be watching you…

Also should give points to anyone creating characters with bad puns in the names, I'm sure there will be a few.

Good idea! I will probably hand out a few bonus prizes during the event.
  11. I need Easter holiday cards for the new Super Greetings web site I've created.

So, I am arranging an Easter Chicken parade to be held on the Defiant Server, beneath the Atlas statue in Atlas Park on Thursday 13th of April, 7 PM GMT. (That's 20.00 CET)

I would like all of you to dress up (or create new characters) as chickens or birds. I am sure you have all seen those creative birdlike costumes already but to give you a hint of what I'm looking for I’ve made a feeble attempt at it myself. If anyone can create an Easter bunny or dress up as an egg, that's ok too.

    http://www.randomdice.com/easterchicken.jpg

Prices will go out to the best costumes and the best Easter holiday macro.

1st price costume competition - 1 million influence
    2nd price costume competition - 500k influence
    3rd price costume competition – 250 k influence

1st price Easter holiday macro – 1 million influence

Winners of costume competition will also be featured as postcards on the Super Greetings web site.

    Happy Easter everyone
  12. Woho!

    Supercool. I loved it.

    Keep 'em comin'
  13. Short answer. Yes I am interested. And have also played pen and paper RPG's for almost 25 years. (Yes, I rolled my first D20 in January 1980.). And I assume more from my group would like to attend.

Long answer: I am part of group of people who actually role play on the Defiant server (yes, Defiant). We started out by creating a slightly shady but on the edge good looking company called Credo Radix. We then created heroes independently but all attached to the company and then met inside the Paragon City Hall were we had as a starting point for all sessions until we got our base. If you are on Defiant you might have seen us having our meetings on the carpet in the left wing of the building. All heroes belongs the Credo Radix RT1 supergroup. RT1 stands for Response Team One.

We try to meet about once or twice each fortnight were we stay in character through out the session and do some real role playing. Not only do we work our way through the ordinary missions. We also hang out in our base, do some exploring and every now and then an anonymous lady from the company shows up and give us extra missions. Since they are not ordinary missions we only get paid in influence from her by completing them. Once we had to attach electronic devices to phone boxes in Hollows and later find out if the sewer system actually had a connection between Atlas Park and Steel Canyon.

With the release of CoV we are talking about creating a villain group also sponsored by the corporation, not officially though.

There’s also a rough webpage with our characters and some background info on the corporation. Hopefully the webpage will be freshened up in the future so that we can show it outside the group.

And I (and most of the group) have played role playing games for a long time. I started out with AD&D and Traveller, was a huge fan of Call of Cthulhu, Paranoia and Shadowrun. Tried some World of Darkness and other stuff but is still faithful to D&D (now with 3.5).

I’m even part of a game design group called Gigantoskop and so far we’ve released three games (board and card).

Oh, and we’re all from Sweden.
  14. Woha! Congratulations Mr. Buggman.

Or as we say in Sweden: Snyggt jobbat grabben!

I am glad I introduced you (and your wife) to the game.
  15. Some how you missed me and my girlfriend
