I made a post a few weeks ago about forming a new RP SG here in Virtue. Well, things are finally taking shape. I've recently setup the message board for it (though I haven't changed much layout wise...but it is fully functional), and have now opened registration to join the group. The following is from my previous post, and provides a quick overview of the SG.
First off, let me say what this SG is about, or rather, what it is NOT about. If you are a min/maxer, if all you care about is how effective your toon is, then this SG will probably not be for you. Now that I have that out of the way, here is a list of rules (more like guidelines really) of what the SG is going to be about
:
1. New entrants must be low level - I'm thinking lvl 10 and under, though this isn't set in stone. So if you are level 12 or 15 but feel that you would fit in with the group, apply anyway. I won't turn down a good candidate just because he's a few levels higher than what we are looking for. Basically, the SG is formed by "new" heroes. Perhaps they just moved to Paragon, or they just recently acquired or discovered their powers. Maybe they've always had their powers but only had the resolve to use it for the good of mankind lately. The hope is that the members of the SG will grow together.
2. Group will be initially limited to 12 characters - Because the hope is that the group will grow together, I think it is important that the group start out relatively small at first. Once the SG has been established, then it can be opened for more people to join.
3. Concept driven characters ONLY! - As I said earlier, if you are a min/maxer kind of person, this probably isn't for you. Now, I know that it is often difficult to stay entirely true to a concept, and that's perfectly understandable. I don't expect every power to "fit", but majority of your build should. There's only a few limitations that I really don't think would work, and it has mainly to do with the Natural archetype. Basically, if you are a Natural, then your movement powers will be limited, as I can't think of logical reasons how a Natural can teleport, fly, and perhaps even SS/SJ. Again, this isn't set in stone. If you can come up with a viable and logical reasoning as to why your Natural character can do these things things, please, bring it up. It will be discussed and definitely considered.
This leads us to....
4. Gimps welcome! - I'm not concerned with min/max. I want each of our members to be able to play as the superhero/heroine they want to be, not what a guide or FAQ says they should have! Most heroes in the comic book world isn't perfect. They all have their weaknesses. The same will be true for this SG. In fact, one of the reasons you can say that SGs exists is for each member to provide support for each other. We may not be invincible as individuals, but we will be as a team!
5. "Everyone" is Welcome - I know some SGs have an age limit. I won't enforce one. I think having an age limit will prevent some younger yet mature members from joining. Besides, not everyone over the age of 18 can be considered mature. Basically, "don't ask, don't tell". So long as you behave in a mature manner and treat everyone well, that's all that matters.
6. Moderate-heavy RP - Storylines that advances both through the message board and in-game. We'll have storylines that revolves around the group, and ones that revolve around individual characters. Which brings me to the next one...
7. Board participation is required. Even if you are unable to join in on the in-game RP, participation in the mb RP will allow your character to be not left out with what is going on. This will also help each of us to get to know everyone in the SG.
Finally, weekend nights will be "SG nights". Special events will occur during these times. In-game RP, missions, PvP (if there's enough interest), and even TFs (if it can be arranged to fit everyone's schedule).
Oh, I almost forgot. Regarding character concepts....you can be a goody-two-shoes, have powers from the dark side, or even vigilante type (as long as you are not someone with no regard to human life). If you are fighting for the good side, that's all that matters.
