Hey! I just got my new computer upgrade and have been playing around with graphics settings ALL day. phew, i'm getting tired. Anyways this is what I've got.
Intel Core-i7 920
6GB Corsair 1333mhz ddr3
Asus P6T X58
XFX Radeon HD 5970 Black Edition
1TB WD Caviar Black Hard Drive
850W PW
Windows 7 Professional
Catalyst 10.4
Anyways, I've been tinkering with setting all day like I said. I was having some serious problems with FSAA of any sort in the game. I have the settings in Ultra mode and everything turned up to the Maximum Settings. After a bunch of research I figured out that in order to use FSAA all I had to do was disable "Advanced Occlusion Settings" I cranked up FSAA to 8x and all was good.
Oh, yeah, running it 1920x1080 on my 50" plasma via hdmi port.
Anyways, I've got a quick question about frame rates. With my setup and the in game settings, i'm only getting around 30-40fps. Peaks at around 50, low is around 22. Anyways, I thought that was kinda low for what I'm running.
My nifty little program called techpower up gpu-z, reports to me in the log that I am only using 65-70% of my gpu cycles and only 20% of the CPU. Now don't get me wrong, but with those numbers wouldn't you think the fps could go higher?
I almost think that the FPS meter is lying to me. because when I am thick into some graphics and I drop below 30 fps, I don't notice the change. usually when frames start falling bellow 30 and closer to 20 I can definitely start seeing frames skipping, but in this case I don't. It's smooth as can be at 22fps. hmm...
What do yas think?
