Chapter X: The Mourning After

-~Surgetron~-

“We are gathered here today,” said Surgetron as a tear fell from his eye. “To remember the lives and efforts of true heroes.”

Surgetron began to fidget nervously.

“Kat Fury was killed in action. Soon after, two of my closest friends, Silent Spy and NeoRadiation, were brutally murdered in a bombing,” continued Surgetron.

Surgetron began to cry harder, but tried to maintain composure. Next to him were Tribal Axe, Gravanator and Dinah Might, all friends who were with him.

Surgetron turned away as Tribal Axe tried to lead the rest of the funeral. After the funeral, Surgetron, Tribal Axe, Dinah Might and Gravanator stood in the cemetery as the rest of the crowd left.

“Are you goin’ to be okay?” asked Dinah, trying to comfort Surgetron.

“Yeah, don’t worry about me,” he said weakly. “I just need some time by myself for a bit.”

Dinah shrugged and led Tribal Axe and Gravanator out of the cemetery. Surgetron sat next to the three graves, buryng his face in his hands.

-~Netherflare~-

“She’s what?” asked Netherflare, feeling like a knife had just stabbed her in the chest.

“Silent Spy past away last evening,” said the doctor. “Along with a hero known as NeoRadiation.”

Netherflare was shocked at the news.

“What are you going to tell her mother?” she asked.

“Her mother?” asked the doctor. “Who is her mother?”

“You brought her in last night as a patient,” said Netherflare. “Amethystar.”

The doctor looked surprised but then nodded his head and walked off.

‘They can’t be dead,’ thought Netherflare. ‘They just can’t be…’

-~Ghost Widow~-

“Dead?” asked Ghost Widow, looking over her friend’s dead body. Ghost Widow, Lord Recluse and a medic walked around Radevil’s body, lying on an examination table in the Arachnos’ medical lab.

“Yes,” said Lord Recluse. “I would have killed her myself, but someone else took care of her for me.”

“I want to make sure of it,” said Ghost Widow. “I want to make sure she’s really dead. I want to know how she died.”

Lord Recluse quickly put the blades on his spidery arms against Radevil’s neck, ready to cut her.

“No!,” shouted Ghost Widow. “I mean through an autopsy.”

Lord Recluse groaned.

“No autopsies,” said Lord Recluse firmly. “I don’t want her to come back. She’s been enough trouble.”

Lord Recluse barged out of the room, leaving Ghost Widow alone with the medic.

“Get me an autopsy,” said Ghost Widow demandingly.

“But Lord Recluse said…,” started the medic.

“I don’t care what he said,” said Ghost Widow. “I’ll kill you myself if you don’t get me an autopsy. Let me know anything you find. Get to work on it, now.”

Ghost Widow left the medical lab, slamming the door behind her.

-~Silent Spy~-

White. Bright white lights.

“Huh?” mumbled Silent Spy, feeling disoriented.

“Hello, Jessica Thine,” said a deep echoing voice, coming from all directions at once.

“Where am I?” asked Silent Spy, confused. “Am I dead?”

“Yes, Jessica Thine, you are dead,” said the voice.

Silent Spy blinked, shocked at the thought. She felt as if she was drugged. Everyting was too surreal.

“Dead?” she asked.

“Yes, in a sense,” said the voice, seemingly louder.

Silent Spy tried moving, but she couldn’t. She looked down at her legs and arms, tried down to a stiff metal chair by silver locks and chains.

“Let me go,” said Silent Spy.

“I cannot do that, Jessica,” said the voice.

“Stop calling me that,” said Silent Spy.

“Silent Spy is dead,” said the voice. “Jessica Thine is dead.”

“What do you mean?” asked Silent Spy, beginning to get a headache.

“Don’t you remember?” asked the voice. “The agreement right before you ‘died’?”

“What agreement?” asked Silent Spy.

Suddenly, the chains and locks broke free. Silent Spy stood up from her chair as a door opened, which seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. A woman in a business suit walked towards Silent Spy, with her shoes tapping on the white titled floor.

“Welcome to the Hero Witness Protection Agency,” said the woman, reaching out her hand.

-~NeoRadiation~-

Larry Stone, once known as NeoRadiation or Dr. Steven Foster, sat at a conference table in the Hero Witness Protect Agency’s offices. Next to him was a close friend, Maria Loften, once known as a hero named Silent Spy. Sitting around the table were several department heads of the agency.

“First, I would like to welcome both of you again to the HWPA,” said a woman, who seemed to be the head of the agency. “We are a top-secret division of the Witness Protection Agency. I am Clarissa Koral, division head.”

Clarissa stood up from her seat and began to walk around the table.

“The HWPA is a special division,” said Clarissa. “Your talents our to extraordinary to stay hidden. In the HWPA, your identities are safe and hidden, but you are still going to see some action. In a sense, you are like a member of the CIA or anyother agency.”

Clarissa stopped between the two friends.

“However, you must forget everything about your past life,” said Clarissa. “The drugs will do that for you. Now, allow me to explain. Right before the rest of the world thought you ‘died’, you were drugged with a special medicine. This medicine will allow you to forget many things from your past. Immediately after you were drugged, the two of you were taken out of the car by some agents. There was a trick door in the bottom of the car, and you two were dragged through the door, and into the manhole below.”

“I’m confused,” said Silent Spy.

“Maria, Larry,” said Clarrissa. NeoRadiation raised an eyebrow as he was called this. It will take some getting used to. “You are now officially agents of the Hero Witness Protection Agency. Congratulations.”

-~Figi~-

In the middle of the night, Figi snuck past the guards in the Arachnos base and quietly creeped into the medical lab.

As soon as she entered the lab, a medic pointed his gun at her.

“Not today, missie,” said the medic.

“You don’t know me,” said Figi with a smirk. A large vine busted through the lab’s window, wrapping around the medic and pulling him through the window and out of the building.

Figi stood over Radevil’s body, lying on the examination table.

“She’s really dead,” said Figi, smiling happily. Figi turned around to find a bunch of files and x-rays sitting on a counter. Figi lifted some of the x-rays up to the light table on the wall. There were samples of her bones, skull, MRI tests and ultrasounds.

As she lifted up an ultrasound, she saw something shocking.

“No way,” gasped Figi. Radevil is pregnant.

Book III
Chapter IX: Sweet Revenge

-~Silent Spy~-

Silent Spy sat in the corner of the room. She looked at NeoRadiation and Radevil, who were both frozen in fright as Lord Recluse walked towards them.

‘Nobody will find us here,’ thought Silent Spy. ‘Not in this abandoned building. We’re going to die.’

Lord Recluse extended a spidery arm at NeoRadiation and put the sharp blade at the edge close to his neck.

“What is your name?” asked Lord Recluse bitterly.

“I am NeoRadiation,” said NeoRadiation. His voice was shaky, nervous.

“What is your real name?” asked Lord Recluse.

“Dr. Stephen Foster,” said NeoRadiation with his voice even more shaky.

Lord Recluse laughed a manical, deep laughter.

“A doctor,” said Lord Recluse. “How pathetic.”

NeoRadiation fell to the ground, begging on his knees.

“Please, mercy,” begged NeoRadiation.

“I think–,” started Radevil.

“Shut up,” said Lord Recluse, turning to Radevil. All of his spidery arms pointed at Radevil, surrounding her in the sharp blades. “You failed your mission. You are the one to be killed first.”

“I’m sorry, I just –,” started Radevil, beginning to cry.

“No excuses!” shouted Lord Recluse, attacking Radevil with all of the blades. He cut her face, neck, shoulder, arm, chest, waist, back and legs all at once. Radevil began to bleed excessively as she fell to the ground in a puddle of her own blood, screaming.

“I’m sorry,” she cried.

Silent Spy’s jaw dropped at the sight. Lord Recluse was ruthless and evil beyond belief.

“I’m sorry!” screamed Radevil through her tears.

“I said shut up!” screamed Lord Recluse, stabbing Radevil in the back with one of the blades. Lord Recluse lifted the spidery arm, lifting Radevil with it by the hole in her back. He then tossed her off the blade, into the wall.

Radevil’s limp body fell next to Silent Spy.

“You’re next,” said Lord Recluse, pointing to Silent Spy.

-~Figi~-

Figi leaned against the cave wall, looking at her three prisoners. Gravanator, Surgetron and Dinah Might had been tied up to the wall by three thick vines on each person. On the vines were sharp poison-tipped thorns to prevent the heroes from trying to escape.

“You three stay here,” said Figi. “I’ve got something to take care of. Once that’s done, I’ll think about letting you free.”

Figi started to head out of the cave.

“Yo, you goin’ to look for Radevil?” asked Dinah Might.

Figi froze.

“Yes, I am,” said Figi. “And I’m going to kill her.”

“You’ll get killed first,” said Dinah Might.

Figi laughed and walked out of the cave. As she walked out, she summoned vines to make a wall on the entrance, preventing anyone from entering or exitting. Figi turned around to see a group of heroes walking around. Before they could find Figi, she quickly ran into the woods.

She ran as fast as she could. If they find her, they’d kill her. She continued to run until she tripped on the root of a tree. She fell flat on her face into the grass and dirt of the woods. She lifted her head up off the ground and looked around.

A few feet infront of her was a large beast lying on the ground. Figi stood up and got a closer look at the beast. It was Werehound.

“Werehound,” she gasped, looking at her friend. She rolled over his body to see that he had a large mark on his chest, where he was burned or attacked. She felt his pulse. Werehound was dead.

“Who would have done this?” asked Figi, beginning to cry. She was the one who had found and trained Werehound. She was like his mother, and now, he is dead.

‘Radevil,’ she thought. ‘Radevil must have done this.’

She stood up at the thought and began to grow more and more angry.

‘Radevil will pay for this.’

-~ZapperScurge~-

ZapperScurge and his army of robots marched through the woods of Bloody Bay. He had been told there was a war going on here, but he hasn’t seen anyone since he had arrived.

“Hello?” he shouted. “Hello?”

“Yes?” asked a voice.

ZapperScurge and his robots turned around to see a familiar hero, Tribal Axe, standing in the middle of the woods.

“Ah, Tribal Axe, we meet again,” said ZapperScurge.

“What are you doing here?” asked Tribal Axe.

“I heard there was a war here,” said ZapperScurge. “And you, you are the enemy.”

Tribal Axe bowed down his head.

“I don’t want to fight you,” said Tribal Axe.

“Well, I hope you don’t mind if I kill you then,” said ZapperScurge as his robots all aimed their weapons at Tribal Axe.

Suddenly, ZapperScurge began to feel very warm. As each second past, he got warmer and warmer.

“Is it just me, or is it hot out here?” asked ZapperScurge.

Tribal Axe smiled.

“Oh, it’s burning up alright,” said Tribal Axe. Tribal Axe’s armor suddenly ignited into flames as he drew his axe. Tribal Axe hacked at a nearby tree, cutting it down instantly. The tree fell to the ground, landing on top of two of ZapperScurge’s robots. The fire began to spread throughout the woods, quickly causing a wildfire.

“You moron!” shouted ZapperScurge, surrounded in a fiery woods. “How are we supposed to get out of here now?”

“Not my problem,” said Tribal Axe, running away from the battle.

Burning trees began to fall from every direction, almost killing ZapperScurge each time. After a few trees fell, he quickly flew up into the air, above the burning woods. Only one of his robots, Michelle, was able to come out of the woods still functional.

-~NeoRadiation~-

NeoRadiation watched as Lord Recluse walked towards Silent Spy. Lord Recluse reached out his arm and grabben Silent Spy by the neck, lifting her off the ground while choking her.

“Prepare to die, hero,” said Lord Recluse.

“No!” shouted NeoRadiation, blasting a bolt of radiation at Lord Recluse.

Lord Recluse fell to the ground, dropping Silent Spy to the ground.

“You will pay for that!” screamed Lord Recluse, charging at NeoRadiation. Lord Recluse tackled NeoRadiation into a wall. The wall cracked open, sending NeoRadiation and Lord Recluse flying through the wall and out of the building. They fell down to the building below them and slammed onto the roof, cracking it. They fell inside the other building, into a mysterious lab.

“Did you really think you can defeat me?” asked Lord Recluse, lifting NeoRadiation off the ground by his neck.

Silent Spy leapt into the room.

“Drop him, now,” demanded Silent Spy.

Lord Recluse began to laugh as he grabbed onto Silent Spy with his other hand. Radevil flew into the room, carrying a large knife.

“Master, would you like me to kill them now?” asked Radevil, holding the knife to Silent Spy’s neck.

“I thought I killed you,” said Lord Recluse.

“Not quite,” said Radevil with a smirk. “I was able to fix my wounds.”

Radevil’s wounds were repaired and closed, but there was still a large scar.

“Then, yes, kill them,” said Lord Recluse with a hint of betrayal in the sound of his voice.

Radevil began to cut at Silent Spy’s neck when Silent Spy kicked free. Silent Spy tackled Radevil and knocked her into a wall and slammed her on a lab table.

“Let go of me!” shouted Radevil.

Lord Recluse threw NeoRadiation to the wall as Silent Spy pinned Radevil to the wall.

NeoRadiation picked himself up and looked at a bunch of injections and needles sitting on a lab table. He picked up an injection that seemed to read as: Fatal Injection.

“Silent Spy, quick!” he said, tossing the injection to Silent Spy.

“Die,” said Silent Spy, grabbing the injecting and stabbing Radevil in the stomach with the needle. Radevil began to scream as Silent Spy injected her with the fluid. Radevil fell to the ground.

Silent Spy and NeoRadiation turned to each other and then looked around the room. Lord Recluse was gone.

-~Surgetron~-

Surgetron, Gravanator and Dinah Might barged out of the cave, breaking through the vine wall.

“Did she really think that she would hold me back?” asked Dinah Might with a laugh.

Surgetron watched as helicopters flew overhead.

“Somethings going on,” said Surgetron, pointing to the helicopters. “Lets go, quick.”

Surgetron, Gravanator and Dinah Might chased after the helicopters to a small building. They ran inside and walked to the highest story and went inside a room surrounded by police.

In the room was Silent Spy and NeoRadiation, talking to the police. On the floor was Radevil surrounded by police, reporters and medics.

“She’s dead!” shouted a medic, examining Radevil.

Surgetron rushed over to Silent Spy and NeoRadiation. Dinah Might and Gravanator quickly followed him. Silent Spy shooed the police officers away, nodding and smiling.

“What happened?” asked Surgetron.

“It’s a long story,” said Silent Spy. “I just want to get home.”

“Yeah, same here,” said NeoRadiation, out of breath.

“Come on, lets head home,” said Silent Spy. “The police offered to take us back.”

Silent Spy smiled at Surgetron and waved good bye, leaving the building, followed by NeoRadiation.

Surgetron, Dinah Might and Gravanator watched out the window as Silent Spy and NeoRadiation got into a car.

“Today has been a long, weird, odd day,” muttered Surgetron.

The police car drove off and stopped randomly in the middle of the street.

“What’s going on?” wondered Surgetron. “It stopped.”

The police car suddenly exploded into pieces.

-~Gravanator~-

Gravanator, Surgetron and Dinah Might rushed down to where the car had exploded, followed by a swarm of police.

“Where are they?” shouted Gravanator, looking for Silent Spy or NeoRadiation.

“They must have exploded in the bombing,” said a police officer.

“I bet the Arachnos are behind this,” said Surgetron. “They’ll pay. Yes, they will pay.”

A tear fell from Gravanator’s eye. First Kat Fury died, and now Silent Spy and NeoRadiation. Gravanator turned to Dinah Might.

Dinah Might stood stiff, shocked. She then sat down on the sidewalk, covering her face with her hands.

Gravanator sat down next to her, comforting her.

“How can this happen?” cried Dinah softly. “We’re supposed to be heroes.”

“It’s okay, Dinah,” said Gravanator, patting her on the back. “Everything will be okay.”

-~Netherflare~-

Netherflare laid down in her bed in the hospital. Two beds rolled next to her with paramedics panicking around them.

“What’s going on?” she asked.

She still couldn’t move her leg and barely could feel her feet. Her neck was stiff, so it hurt to turn and look.

The paramedics moved away from the beds, allowed Netherflare to see the two new patients.

“No way,” she gasped, staring at Amethystar and Phantoma Storm.
