On sunday I attempted to lead a Synapse taskforce. We began the grind, getting to nearly the last 'kill all' mission and clearing all the enemies before we encountered a bug which prevented us from progressing. The red question mark minimap arrow of doom appeared. I had everyone log out to attempt to reset the mission, but upon clearing again we faced the same bug.
I should note that this process took far longer than the few sentences might indicate; after the first encounter of the bug we had all submitted petitions describing our situation. We hit the two hour marker(just on that one mission) when we finally gave up after getting no response during prime time.
Monday, I decide to try doing a Sister Psyche run. On the very first mission we encounter nearly the same bug. We thought it might have been a rezzing stunner which caused problems, but upon exiting, the mission reset on its own. Confused, we tried clearing it again to no avail. The mission appeared to be infinitely resetting on its own for no apparent reason.
We submitted petitions before rage quitting and I included all information from the map coordinates of the mission door to the place the mission was on my objective list. I received no response until six hours later, wherein I was told they can't do anything because the servers were down when they got the petition.
TL;DR some missions are inexplicably, randomly broken:
- Upon meeting the mission objectives, occasionally a red map marker facing south will appear on the minimap, labeled '????'
- Since 'Going Rogue', the Synapse taskforce will bug out on any of the 'kill all' missions.
- The Sister Psyche taskforce will get bugged on the first mission (I have only attempted it once). This might be triggered by a freakshow rezzing after the mission is completed.
I hope someone can make use of this information, since apparently petitions aren't really doing anything. -
I think a huge problem for mind control being not as team friendly as other sets are its lack of notable target animations.
Mass domination/dominate are both very subtle animations which are canceled out by damage and easily blotted out by other more visible effects.
Terrify and mass hypnosis suffer from the same problem, both of which are powers which should be extremely notable due to their sensitive nature. "NO CORRUPTOR, WHY ARE YOU ATTACKING THAT FEARED +4 ELITE BOSS, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO~~!"
Sadly, confuse is the most notable effect and the only one people don't really need to worry about.
Compared to other sets, (fire, ice, earth, plant, even gravity) whos control animations are much more notable, mind is sort of gimped. If you can't notice someone covered in fire rings, ice, blocks of stone, vines, or floating with funky translucent stuff around them, you're silly!
Is there any hope of this being looked at? -
We will be doing a Synapse TF run on Friday, June 19 at around 7:00PM CST.
- We will be using ventrilo, a microphone isn't required nor is your presence there but you'll probably want to hear us chattering.
- It is recommended that the character you are coming along with is at least level 20.
- Synapse TF is pretty ridiculously long as it consists of a lot of tedious 'Defeat all' missions and patrols. Only come if you can sink in about 4 hours!
Here is our current confirmed roster:
***
Buulrag [Emp/sonic]
Srebro [Bs/shield]
Zantumal [Energy/mental]

You'll get along famously with the folks in the Defender forums, I can tell.

Which why it's better to stay in the Corruptor forums, where people actually know to use their entire powersets.
[/ QUOTE ]Heh, well, there are some really stupid people in this game both blue and redside, and since I primarily play villains most of my rage is induced by corrs and MMs who are 'pure healers'. Yes - it does happen a lot more frequently with defenders, which can be attributed to the fact that their support is the primary powerset.
I remember doing an ITF run with this emp-defender who had two attacks and no ones health ever dropped below 90% so he just sat there doing nothing the entire TF. When we were fighting Romulus and I asked him why he wasn't attacking he said he was a healer, at which point I said he was worthless, he ragequit and we completed the TF without a hitch.
That's too bad, he could have used whirlwind to save us. -
This is a rage post about why I refuse to invite people who advertise themselves as a healer and why I usually end up kicking people who ask for a healer.
What's the matter, Shibbs? Like in every other MMO and even D&D, you need a healer class or your team blows!
Wrong. In CoX, the conflicts are normally always massively one sided. As in, you can tank something effortlessly, or it will chew through 90% of your health in one hit and a 600 health heal isn't going to save you. Very rarely are there encounters that are honestly in the middle.
Let's compare buffs vs single target heals. In empathy, heal other will give back about 600 health - your average tank will have about 2000 health. Sonic's shields however will give you 40% damage resistance. So, if something hits you for 1000 damage, 400 of that bites the dust passively - every time it hits you.
An empath is capable of healing 900 (we'll say 900 assuming they are following you using their AOE heal and single target) every 6 seconds (activation time + recharge). So, if you're fighting one person, who wins? The empath.
However, since sonic buffs protect passively, if you're fighting a group which does 4000 damage per attack wave, 1600 of that is mitigated.
No. I am not saying empathy is worthless, and no, I did not compare the other aspects of the set versus the other aspects of sonic aside from the shields.
Perhaps I've just been really lucky but I've never really been in a situation where a heal has saved me or the team, not as a frontliner or a backliner.
tl;dr my point is that buffs > heals and you make yourself look like a total newbie by advertising as or requesting a 'healer' and you don't belong doing taskforces.
