    *sigh*

Let's see if I can lay this thing to rest.

At I5 - and now again with ED - some claim that the game is "dying" and that thousands of players are leaving. This isn't true. We're actually gaining customers. Not hundreds of thousands, but we're gaining nevertheless.

    [/ QUOTE ]
It's arrogant and snarky comments like this that makes me wonder why I play this game.

My gray friends list and gray SG list say otherwise. And yes you may be gaining customers, but they are CoV customers, not CoH customers. Last night when I looked it was about 80% on CoV and 20% CoH on Infinity. CoH is dying. You've got more customers because of CoV, because CoV is new content. My friends list on CoH is gray because you could not retain those customers, because you nerfed them to the point that they left, rather than spending those resources to add new content to CoH.

After hearing about issue 5 and ED, I thought hard about cancelling, but I didn't because I guessed, correctly, that CoV would be "free" monthly after purchase, and that CoV would be a bunch of new content. So that is what I am playing now.

But as far as CoH is concerned... what is new? Everything added to CoH since I've started playing 10 months ago has been a nerf save Croatoa. And by the time Croatoa hit, I was way past that and couldn't do any of it's content except for the TF.

I have a level 50 regen scrapper that needs YET ANOTHER respec, and I'm finding that I just don't care. Too many large changes in too short a time has left me tired of trying to figure it out. Part of the fun of CoH was building the character, learning about it's powers as you go, and using respecs to "tweak" things as you learn. But now we are using respecs to try to salvage things. And yeah, they are free respecs, but you don't have all the playtime experience to guide you since nothing works like it did before.

    Is it confirmed?

    [ QUOTE ]
I understand why it's in development... How would you possibly impliment a difference? I mean from a blaster you can become a corruptor but you are also a slight hybrid with a dominator... Scrappers Tankers and brutes are worse... each can go any direction, and would you (if you did transfer) be "starting" at your current level (what ever it was you did the "transfer" at) or would you start back at one with the name and that's it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
How about you go to Warburg (or any PvP zone), die, go to Warburg hospital and come out a Villain. You still have all of your Hero powers, but other Heroes will then con red, and you can't go back thru the Hero gate. No mucking around with powers needed.

After the quadruple nerfing my regen scrapper took, he'll be first in line. Although he'd probably rather be a mastermind and let minions do the scrapping from now on...

My B&N was hiding it in the back.

IN THAT CASE WHY THE SUPPRESSION WITH TRAVEL..ITS EMBRASSING MY TANK CAN NOT JUMP BACK UP TO THE CAT WALK TO SAVE A SQUISHIEE FROM A LUI BECAUSE MY AURA HAS TAUNTED A MINION WHO FOLLOWED ME DOWN.

SUPPRESSION WAS TO STOP THE JOUSTING IN PVP...PLAIN AND SIMPLE...CANT WE HAVE SUPER POWERS THAT WORK WITH SUPER TRAVEL. PLEASE FIX THE PVE SUPPRESSION...LEAVE PVP AS U SEE FIT.
    TY

    [/ QUOTE ]

The capslock suppression is broken, could someone please bug it?

    [/ QUOTE ]
It was unnecessary anyway. Taunt aura suppression was removed in issue 5. Only attacks suppress now.

8% of the player base has a level 50
A smaller proportion has multiple 50's

    [/ QUOTE ]

Ya know.... I remember when this number came out. I didn't buy it then, and I still don't buy it.
    ...
I just find it impossible to believe that only 8% of the playerbase has a 50.

    Just doesn't jive with logic.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Actually, I can believe this number. There are two "normal" ways to count this statistic, and either way can be very skewed:

8% of the active accounts has a level 50 (and most players that reached 50 closed their account).
    -or-
8% of every account ever created has a 50 (and there are probably a bazillion accounts that lasted no more than the 2 week trial period).

In either case, the statistic can be skewed such that you don't really know the 'true' percentage of 50's, or potential 50's, simply because so many people quit because it's too hard/grinding at the mid/lower levels, ran out of new content after hitting 50, didn't like the game, thought the game cost too much, got nerfed to the point they don't care anymore, etc., etc., etc.

Any statistic can be interpreted and manipulated to say whatever you want:

8% level 50's means there isn't enough population to devote content to them.
8% level 50's means that there isn't enough content for the 50's, therefore a lot of them quit.
8% level 50's means that the low/mid level content is too hard and people quit before getting there.
    ...

It's just a badge. If I'm missing something here, please fill me in. Otherwise you're just coming accross as a whining rules lawyer who's upset that theey didn't see something that they aren't obligated to point out.

Note that in the EULA you accept before playing the game includes a gem like this:

    [ QUOTE ]
THE SERVICE, THE SOFTWARE, THE ACCOUNT, THE CITY OF HEROES GAME AND ALL OTHER SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" BASIS, PROVIDED AT YOUR OWN RISK, AND TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NC INTERACTIVE HEREBY EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF ANY KIND, WRITTEN OR ORAL, EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF TITLE, NONINFRINGEMENT, MERCHANTABILITY, QUIET ENJOYMENT, ACCURACY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Without limiting the foregoing, NC Interactive does not ensure continuous, error-free, secure or virus-free operation of the Service, the Software, your Account or City of Heroes, and you understand that you shall not be entitled to refunds for fees based on NC Interactive’s failure to provide any of the foregoing . Some states do not allow the disclaimer of implied warranties, and to that extent, the foregoing disclaimer may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights that vary from state to state

    [/ QUOTE ]
    (emphasis mine)

    [/ QUOTE ]
You did not emphasize the rest of this sentence:
, and you understand that you shall not be entitled to refunds for fees based on NC Interactive’s failure to provide any of the foregoing.

This is the reason that those lines are in the EULA.

If there is a bug that is preventing you from completing a mission, getting a badge, crashing the game, erasing your character or whatever, it is up to the devs to fix the problem, and up to the GMs to decide if they will remedy your situtation. Whether or not they do so has nothing to do with the language in the EULA, which simply says that you cannot get a refund.
  7. [ QUOTE ]
I don't use it on purpose, but it has saved my life more than once, and I am very glad to have it. My sincere thanks to the developers for a clever idea that has been well-implemented.

    [/ QUOTE ]
You may not now, but eventually you will find yourself so tempted to stand and try to get that killing shot in rather than running.

I am down to my last sliver of HP against two +2 Outcast Lt's. I had one of them immobilized, backing up with the other in tow, defiance bar was pegged, and I just got him down to the red.... do I run? No... I peg the one Lt., killing him, meanwhile the other Lt. shoots me dead at range.

I'm not so sure that is a good thing for Blasters.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
So basically you are telling us that you guys did a crap job of implimenting them, no proper way of keeping track of them and that it will take at least a year to fix them.

Why did you even bother? I guess its on par with most other things in CoH.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Now be nice. Positron is actually giving us detailed reasoning and communicating with us in a polite and informative manner, rather than talking down to us with brief, snippy answers like another red name we know has been doing.
  9. Nice job!

Now we get to spend the next couple weeks trying to figure out how he made a lot of those shots!
  10. [ QUOTE ]
I agree. Arguments that they've already paid their dues are great and all, but the fact remains that some of the most powerful beings in Paragon City spend all their time standing around in public areas doing nothing while heroes sometimes die all around them....

    [/ QUOTE ]
You assume Positron is standing there all day. But in reality he's only there when heroes are around in case they need TF assignments, otherwise he's off on a quick hami raid, or maybe visiting with Swan.
