Both Ildelas quietly went through the portal, the one who'd moments ago been made of lightning still a little unsteady on her feet even with the help from the dragon. "Thanks", she commented to said dragon just before disappearing. Once on the other side she would place her hand on the scanner to get in and then go straight to the nearest sofa and lie down on it. Moments later, if nothing distracted her, she'd be asleep.
The other meanwhile, paused a moment to wait for Ethan to come through since she'd sort of taken charge of him for now. She wasn't quite sure why she did that, but figured the reason would come to her in time. Like the first, she placed her hand on the scanner and went through after instructing Ethan to do the same. If anyone happened to be looking at the scans from that device, though, they might notice something strange if they were paying attention. The DNA looked normal enough, perfectly human with minor discrepancies that would account for her powers. If however one looked away and back again, the readings would have changed as if it was a different person entirely who'd placed their hand on the scanner. And if they looked away a second time, they'd change again to a third distinct reading. And so on and so forth, different every time they were looked at and never repeating.
Ildela meanwhile proceeded through the door and immediately over to the bar, intending to test the claim of the drinks being better than those at the D. "Anyone want a drink?", she asked as she crossed the room, loud enough for everyone present to hear. -
Quote:You know the world is truly ****** up when Ildela is the only one who makes sense.
He planed to stick with the one person who has so far made any sense, Ildela. -
Hmm. Well stuff that, hers does cause I say so. At least this once.

Quote:I don't remember if Surge of Power from the epic pool has the same -hp/-end crash on it as Power Surge in elec armor does, but I'm RPing it as having it for now.
((Didn't realize she had, sorry.)) -
Quote:"I say you're an idiot if you think you can keep an eye on me reliably for very long", the stalker answered with a vaguely defiant grin. She'd grown up in the Rogue Isles, some things never entirely faded. "But aside from that... sure. Why not." Clearly she still didn't trust the man, but she saw no point in pressing the issue. Even if it did turn out to be a trap, she'd yet to fall into a trap she couldn't get out of.
"Ildela right? Founders Falls is not a trap. We can teleport you guys to your base right now and show you around at least. What do you say?"
(( Will wait to post for the other one... surely someone cares that she just almost killed herself?))
-
Quote:Having even been courteous enough to stay visible throughout the man's explanation of his 'offer', Ildela almost laughed at that. "No offense, but I'm going to have to politely decline. As good as that sounds, it sounds too good. Thus either it's a blatant trap or there's a catch you're not telling us. So which is it?" The pair of swords were still in her hands, too. But she wasn't making anything even resembling threatening moves with them, more likely she'd just forgotten to put them away.
"Hmm? What's it gonna be?"
The other Ildela meanwhile, was looking increasingly frayed as if her energy was slowly breaking up. Which it was, and which she expected. Once it reached a certain point though, there was nothing left to stop it colascing back into her usual material form. Thus it proceeded to do exactly that, releasing the remaining energy as a close range shockwave that'd momentarily stun anyone too close. Now returned to physical form she immediately dropped to one knee, gasping for breath. "Ugh... hate that", she muttered once she had enough air to actually speak. -
Both Ildelas aren't native to this dimension. One's from a different version of primal earth, and the other is praetorian.
-
Just a heads up for all of you, I'm currently busy cramming for a math test on Wednesday so I might not post much for the next couple of days if I do at all.
-
Ildela stood very still, almost in shock as quite suddenly all hell seemed to break loose as everyone present aside from her acted at once and several others showed up besides. Most of whom she recognised as being among those who'd been pulled here from other dimensions. Let's see... Her alternate self and two others appeared through some sort of teleport. The crazy fire man tried to attack again and promptly had half an ocean plus one very surprised fish and after a slight delay a similarly surprised Mirel dropped on him, by a dragon of all things. Fire guy ran off and apparently teleported to Atlas Park of all places, as told by the policeman who arrived just after him. Even the guy she'd been talking to in the D showed up, suddenly clad in ******* power armor as if that was perfectly normal. Which in Paragon it was, but in his dimension slightly less so.
Regardless, she brushed his attempts at checking her condition off. "Don't worry, it looks worse than it is", she assured him, before the aforementioned dragon took it upon himself to give her some sort of healing effect. "Thanks, I think", she told him, still sounding a little shocked.
Quote:"War walls", Ildela informed the man. "They're called war walls. They keep the Rikti out, and the odd other thing in on occasion." She didn't elaborate on what a Rikti was or what other things the walls might keep in or out, figuring if the man wanted to know more he'd ask."Hmm. Beautiful night out... Shame about those glowing wall-things..."
--------------
The other Ildela's reaction was almost the same. She too stood still and stared as they emerged from their teleport into what seemed like literally all hell breaking loose. The explosion just after they arrived washed over and through her non-physical form to no visible effect. Said form however seemed to be fraying about the edges just a little, as if she was about to dissipate entirely for whatever reason. -
Quote:"God save us all from religious nutcases", Ildela muttered, leaving the injured detective and standing to meet Jacub's charge. The two energy blades found their way back into her hands and she shifted into a distinctly defensive stance.
"How sweet the taste of vengeance upon mine tongue" he continued, closing in on the woman and the now waking police detective. "The blood boils to cut you open murderer! And at mine hands shall thee feel the true wrath of a Soldier of the Most High." With that, his pace quickened into a full-speed charge.
Quote:Suddenly, he formed within his hands a great big flaming sword with which he proceeded to thrust at the woman's belly. "Y-AAAAAAAAAH!" he bellowed, his fiery aura suddenly expanding into a full blown explosion...
-------------
Quote:"You're free to join us if you like. I think we could all use the help we can get stopping this nutbar before he winds up burning this whole area to the ground just fleeing us." -
To be fair this is Paragon City, not real life. Ingame they don't even have helicopters, they have robots, dudes in powersuits, kheldians and psychics instead.
-
Proverbial unstoppable force vs immovable object? Hmm....
I'm gonna side with Blue Steel on that one. -
Ildela stopped as the guy she'd been about to backstab rather abruptly turned and fled. "Coward!", she yelled after him, before taking off in pursuit. Aside from the yell she remained all but undetectable to normal senses, so while she probably tipped him off to someone following him he still wouldn't be able to see her and thus deterring her pursuit would be reasonably unlikely if he tried at all. If his hearing was any good though he might hear the stalker's irritable mutterings about his lack of conviction and other such failings.
The other Ildela on the other hand stayed right where she was, trying to pursue the fleeing Jacub in her current condition would be suicide. Almost unkillable she might be at present, but in about a minute and a half this was going to wear off and if she happened to be flying when it did she'd face a long fall and a very sudden stop. So instead she turned to the Outsider, who she suspected might already have had the same idea she was about to suggest but she'd suggest it anyway just in case. "Hey, that thing teleports, right?", she asked in a decidedly different voice. Like an old record that plays more static than actual sound, it was just barely understandable. "Think you could teleport that cop he ran off with back here?"
---------
Meanwhile back with the pursuit, Ildela pulled up sharply as she very nearly ran into a rapidly ascending helicopter after Jacub stopped for whatever reason and she went back to the original plan of stabbing him, repeatedly as necessary. The chopper it seemed was on her side, so to speak, as it opened fire on the flaming man the instant it had a clear shot. Figuring there wasn't much support she could give to the fight with that hail of bullets in the way of her getting close without being seen, she instead focused on the detective he'd carelessly thrown aside.
"Never let go of the hostage, that's just asking them to shoot you...", she muttered as she flew in to land right beside the guy. Her cloak of course failed the instant she tried to pick him up, she could only keep herself invisible and another person in direct contact inevitably caused problems with that. Should Jacub happen to glance over in that direction, he might very well recognise the woman attempting to make off with his hostage while he wasn't looking as the same one who killed his brother. Or at least as the one who delivered the final blow. -
I dunno, I kinda like that as battle music. It's even from a batle scene!
-
Ildela paused in the doorway, looking out from inside the truck at the scene outside. She debated for a moment what to do, absently twirling one of her swords around in her hand before deciding she should probably lend a hand. Or more precisely, a blade. A devious grin spread across her face as she slipped unseen from the back of the truck and out into the inferno, safe inside her shield for the most part. Given half a chance, she intented to do what stalkers did best - apply swords to back for massive damage.
Her dimensional not-quite-duplicate, on the other hand, was far less safe. Having one's foe just arbitrarily negate one's powers and then start throwing fireballs tends to be an indication of imminent pain, not to mention mildly irritating besides. At least the fire crews had arrived and seemed to be having more luck with the flames than she was with him. "So going to regret this...", she muttered, forced into what was usually a last resort she never had to use. Raising both hands to the sky, she silently called down a massive lightning bolt of that same dark blue energy from within or above the rising smoke cloud from the fire. Screaming incoherently as it hit (Useful or not, being hit by lightning hurts!) and was transformed into what appeared to be living energy, upon which Jacub's thrown fireballs splashed to nearly no effect.
Thus protected at least until the transformation wore off, and it would eventually, she proceeded to do something possibly quite unexpected. She discarded her advantage of range, landing beside Jacub and tearing at his energy source with renewed purpose. What he could restore, she could just as easily take away again. And being right next to him she could even use the released energy to heal any damage he might do to her in the meantime.
Perhaps the worst part was unlike Jacub and his unrestrained rage, she remained perfectly calm about the whole thing. Either she really was that jaded or she was just as crazy as he was, only in a different way. -
Personally I thought this WAS the OOC thread for the Crossing. Guess I was wrong?
As for the need for lots of water, the fire crews will provide that if/when they show up. Magical fire not so much, though. Hence the desire to drain all his endurance (something elec/kin is pretty good at) so all they'll have to put out is ordinary fire without the magic keeping it burning. -
Quote:Yes. Yes it was, and it was awesome. If I recall rightly you killed me but were almost dead yourself, my corpse landed right next to you and I hit RotP.Was this in the match against my scrapper? In all the sheer fiery death you rained down upon me from your lofty seat at the ceiling I don't recall. It all blurs into a massive, glowy, orange, pain.
Also that reminds me of another power I like: Hover. Because haha, you can't hit me if I'm all the way up here but I can still hit you! Enjoy your fireballs! -
Ok, so caging him didn't work... why was it that the only ones she actually wanted to do that to were always the ones it didn't work on? No time to wonder about that now. What she needed was a plan. Of course, plans weren't exactly her strong point. She tended to make them up as she went along, as she was doing now as she launched herself into the air. Staying on the ground would be suicide - even as it was, her armor was smoking from the assault and as she rose, her cape trailed cinders from where the flames had caught it. On the bright side though, unless the guy could throw his flames at her she'd be safe up there.
The others still on the ground, not so much. She needed to put those flames out, and she had no fire extinguisher. Not that it'd work on a magically-fuelled inferno like this but it'd be better than throwing lightning at it. So she went back to her original plan, that of draining his energy. If she could weaken him enough that he couldn't sustain his powers, the fire crews would be able to put out the blaze when they got here. She could already hear their sirens in the distance.
Raising both hands, she began methodically draining his energy. Or lifeforce, or magic, or whatever you wanted to call it. He was channelling something to produce that inferno, and she intended to deny him access to it. Derek (And the Outsider too, if she was close enough) would feel an amazing surge of strength and energy as some of the drained power transferred to them.
(( She's using the various kinetics powers - transfusion, transference, siphon power, siphon speed and fulcrum shift.))

Quote:Of course, it burnt nothing, but those inside with keen senses would notice something was wrong at the King's Row exit doors. Quote:Relaxed as he was his eyes followed Ildela's towards the entrance, his right hand slowly slipping into his big pack......
Downstairs in the entrance hall it was even worse, rather than the faint wisps she'd noticed upstairs there was a definite haze in the air here. But nothing was actually on fire, so it was clearly coming from outside. Safe for the most part inside her invisible energy shield, Ildela quietly drew a pair of Vanguard issue energy katanas from her pockets and flicked them on. They emitted a faint electrical hum as they powered up, the characteristic glow of such weapons hidden beneath her cloaking field the same as she was. Thus armed, she silently proceeded outside to assess the situation. -
Quote:Strangely, she didn't seem upset by that. She should be, but to waste time on that now would be fatal. She could be upset later when she wasn't fighting for her life. Speaking of which, she needed to contain the guy or half of Kings Row was going to go up in flames. To that end she raised both hands and loosed what appeared to be a bolt of lightning in his direction. But it never struck him. No, contrary to probable expectation it arced around him to form into a spherical cage that would hopefully contain both him and his flames. Maybe she'd even get lucky and he'd incinerate himself with the amount of power he was letting off before realising he was contained.
Though the woman had escaped certain death, there was no hope for the Detective who had been burnt down to nothing but bone.
...yeah, right. More likely it'd be just as ineffective on him as it had been on his supposed brother. But it might buy her a few seconds, at least. -
Ildela was actually starting to wonder if the guy was just misguided and she'd hurt his feelings when he suddenly burst into flames. Now, most people would think something along the lines of 'oh god fire bad' and freeze for long enough that the guy would easily incinerate them before they reacted, as it appeared the police officer. Ildela however was experienced enough as a hero in Paragon that her reactions were somewhat faster, and her first response to a guy holding her tended to be getting the hell out of Dodge. Sadly that too was out as she had a duty to protect the defenseless detective the guy was also holding.
All of this went through her mind in no more than a second before she abruptly launched herself backwards, away from the truck in front of them and quite probably into a wall. As she did, she grabbed hold of the arm the guy was in turn holding her with, hoping to pull him away from the detective before his flames could do more than superficial damage. If however he remained stubbornly where he was, her next act would be to simply point a hand at him, as if throwing something. Of course she wasn't throwing anything. What she was doing was draining some of his energy and channeling it into the friendlies around him, in this case the detective. If he was still alive it'd have a restorative effect, healing his burns seemingly by magic. -
"No downside", Ildela replied with a laugh. "Sometimes things just are that good. Not often though." The stalker had refrained from having a drink of her own, for no real reason. She just didn't feel like one right now, instead choosing to plop herself down on a barstool and watch the people going past. Some of them even looked familiar to her, though she knew they wouldn't know her.
Quote:"Not so much me finding it, as it finding me. In this case, anyway. I was just flying along happily and it opened up right in front of me. Teach me to pay more attention to my surroundings, I guess." She grinned, clearly that bothered her far less than it maybe should. "But anyway... usually I use my own portal. Well, not my own. It's my friend's, but she lets me use it if I ask nicely. Problem is, it's not pointed at this dimension cause I came here another way, so I can't use it to get back until I find some way of getting in contact with them so they can set it up." She paused, looking over toward the entrance. Not at any particular person, just in that direction. As if expecting something."..ands what about yous , you says your not even froms arounds heres ? and yous knows my homeland ? how do you finds those portal things?"
---------------
Quote:"Once the others are identified, all of your ID communicator chips should be mutually accessible under one superleague radio frequency. Why don't you give it a try?"
(( Ingame she has Tactics, she quite probably would see a stalker coming if she was looking in the right direction. ))
Quote:Suddenly, the stalker appeared right under the Detective, one hand gripped him by the neck, the other reached for the gremlin woman. Then they were gone.
Quote:"My quarrel lies not with thee", he began in a deep mournful voice. "But may God help you if you deny me what I seek. Those responsible for the fall of my brother Esua, I have tracked beyond this door. But between you two, his weapons have gone missing. I want them back, so that I may bury them with him."
"Now, how about you put me down and get lost before I have a go at you for assaulting an officer of the law", she suggested. Given that she actually officially was now. -
Hmm, let's see...
- Ahh yes. Lightning Rod. There's nothing quite like dissolving into a bolt of lightning and teleporting into the middle of a spawn to lay waste to them in the mere act of reappearing. Especially if you can follow it up with Shield Charge for the added bugs on windshield effect.
- Also, Shadow Meld. Because what sneaky villainous type doesn't like being able to turn into a cloud of creepy black stuff at will.
- And from the same pool, Soul Storm. For much the same reasons as has already been mentioned.
- Staying with patron pools, Mu Lightning or Mu Bolts depending on AT. Because bzzzap.
- Hmm, what else... Oh yes. Static Shield, from elec armor. Just cause when set to dark colours and coloured right it looks really damn creepy.
- Wormhole. That's really all that needs to be said. Also, if you drop them high enough they'll actually bounce when they hit the ground.
- Full Auto and to a lesser extent the spider's Heavy Burst, for when you absolutely must throw as many bullets in one general direction as possible in short order.
- Rain of Arrows for much the same reason, although has the added awesome of somehow penetrating walls, ceilings, etc to fire. I always wondered how my archery blaster does that. Then I remembered she's magic origin and that explained it.
- All three pets in the Robotics set, because two of them enter and all three of them will leave by punching holes through whatever obstacle might happen to be above you.
- Staying with masterminds for a second, the Thugs Bruiser pet cause he cruises up to you on a motorcycle which then proceeds to poof into thin air somehow.
- Fallout, obviously. Because what else are you going to do with the corpse of a teammate if not use them as a thermonuclear weapon.
- Dark Extraction, because using it on AVs provokes hilarious reactions from unsuspecting teammates on occasion.
- Recall Friend, for the exact same reason. Though that's usually reserved for people who annoyed me first.
- Black and White Dwarf, because who doesn't like being a big stompy alien monster.
- Rise of the Phoenix, because my blaster once killed someone with it in a pvp arena match and the reaction over skype was priceless. Also general boominess and the whole getting back up from the dead thing. Soul Transfer for much the same reason, minus the pvp kill.
- Ice Slick and to a lesser extent Ice Patch, becau- *slips and falls over* Bonus awesome against Clockwork (The primal ones, that is.) cause instead of knocking them over it flings them in all directions for no apparent reason.
- Boost Range, because nothing beats sniping a guy from so far away you need a second player to spot for you as they aren't targettable on your screen. Note: requires range slotting in the snipe or huge recharge buffs to stack it twice. Possibly both. Minus the IOs or buffs there's still being able to shoot something from snipe range with a normal power.
- Cosmic Burst, because it's a mez and a kickass attack in the same power. With HOs and IOs combined you can even slot it effectively for both. Also Total Focus. Knockout Blow, Seismic Smash (Which is also mag 4 and all, unless you're a Dominator.) and Incandescent Strike for the same reason.
- Jolting Chain, because watching enemies flop over in succession is hilarious.
- Crane Kick, because boot to the head. Or the nuts, or the chest, or the kneecaps... depending on relative size. Actually most of the martial arts set for this reason.
- Placate, because some part of all of us secretly wants to be a Jedi.
...ok, I think I'm done. And I think I understand why I'm still here after four years, now. -
Quote:"So long as you don't start acting like one too, we'll get along fine", Ildela replied with a laugh. "And last I checked, this place was in its own private dimension. So 'where' is a little vague", she added before turning and leading them out of the VIP lounge and across the way to a bar, behind which was the obligatory bartender. Currently, the man was busy washing glasses. The bar itself was empty aside from them, most of the patrons preferring the blue side bars instead for reasons that Ildela had never really understood.
"wella, isnt this just too sweet, i feels like a Strip Boss, now lead me to the drinks Ildela and you will have a made the happiest man in the ..well where ever the hecking heckk this place is.."
------------
Ildela hummed quietly to herself while waiting for them to deal with the other two first, assuming it'd be easier for the authorities to deal with them one at a time than all at once. Once they were out of the way, she presented the Representative with the same ID card she'd given to Mulligan earlier. "Can you get anything off that to make this go a little faster?", she asked, never having been one for filling out tedious forms if she could avoid it.
(( I'd imagine obvious stuff like her name (Infinite Zero) and her powers (Elec/kin/Mu controller) would be easy enough to get from that. )) -
"Aliens?" Ildela repeated, surprised for once. "Nope, don't think I ever saw any aliens... just a heap of post-apocalyptic wasteland." She paused, either thinking about it or just for effect. "That and a lot of people who always wanted to shoot me for some reason."
Quote:"Hmm... give that here?", she asked, looking at it. Assuming he did so she gave it a fairly close examination. "Huh... it actually does look almost like the money we use here. Almost, but not quite." She handed it back to him. "You might get some places to accept it, but I wouldn't rely on that. And I wouldn't stick around too long if they do."his hand dug deep into a pocket and pulled forth a wad of Pre War Money," ..is this stuff any good here?"
"Anyway... first stop would be Trina, I think. Need to get you something to wear that isn't beaten to all hell." With that she set out across the club, which thankfully wasn't too crowded at present. He would have no trouble following her if he was paying even the slightest bit of attention. "Mind the floor", she commented as they stepped out onto the transparent tiles that made up most of the D's dancefloor. "Don't look down if you're prone to vertigo."
----------------
Quote:"Yeah," Derek grumbled. "The Empire would have a full regiment of gear knights marching us at gunpoint all the way to the nearest cell, even if it was a week-long trip to the nearest town they controlled. Still, I wouldn't want to risk breaking the man's... trust. Those weapons they had back there looked a lot more sophisticated than your average clockwork rifle."
"And trust me", she added to Derek. "I dunno what a clockwork rifle's capable of so I can't speak to that, but believe me when I say if you did something to attract that kind of attention those weapons would be the least of your worries."
