  1. I still think if they corrected the scaling factor of Tanker attacks that it would solve a lot of issues. You would still have the slow attacks, and you would get the high damage, but only later in the game where its needed.

    This still doesn't fix the post 30 Tanker problems. I personally don't see how that problem CAN be fixed, so I would just like to see the Tanker come into a ton of damage capablility at that point. Hey, if the Tanker DID come into a ton of damage dealing at that point, maybe our role in groups would be changed a little... we now deal damage instead of just take it?

    30+ needs to change. A role in groups other than Provoke bot needs to be determined by the Devs. Until this is done give me more damage and I'll be happy.
  2. I posted somewhere that I would not be posting again. However, Statesman's announcement about fixing the Tanker has given me hope. Should he and the Devs pull it through, then I will come here and make a public apology for doubting. For now it's wait and see.

    My take on the Tanker problem isn't one of not doing enough damage. Or rather, not how I see most people stating it.

    The way I see the problem with the Tank's damage, and Super Strength in particular, is that it does not scale. The "feel" of Super Strength is different at level 2 than it is at even level 10. For the most part my Tank has gotten weaker. Yes, if you compare my Tank to those level 2 minions I was fighting before, then I'm more powerful. But... if you compare my level 10 tank to a level 10 minion, then I'm weaker.

    I have not leveled a tank beyond 22, but from what I've seen in countless threads, it remains a problem of scaling even into the higher levels. I know some of the attack sets, like Energy, get a great attack combo later on. I also know that Knockout Blow has gotten a huge boost. To me that is kinda like throwing the Tank community a bone saying "Ok, here you go. One attack that is great. You still don't get any choice scraps from the table, now git!"

    All I would really like to see is the scaling factor fixed. Make me as "powerful" at level 14 as I was at level 2.

    (note: I am not including the defenses of a Tank her as this thread is not about that.)
  3. Personal opinion:

    I am disappointed in the whole Tanker concept.

    I looked foreward to playing a "heavy". A character that can "take it as well as dish it out". Not gonna happen.

    I've seen threads saying the Super Strength powerset should be given to Scrappers. I agree. I would immediatily delete ALL of my current tankers and make an SS/INV Scrapper. The Devs know I will do this, and maybe they fear that many, many other Tank players would do something similar. IF this was true it says something about the general acceptance of the "role" of Tanks.

    I've been told that a Tank's role is not to do damage, but to take it. Hold aggro for the real damage dealers. Take Provoke and Taunt and do your job. You don't do damage, get used to it.

    I refuse.

    I will, instead, continue playing my INV/SS character DESPITE the inferior damage. I will not be welcome in groups because I don't have Provoke. I will solo my entire career.

    Krunch, I sincerly hope you actually succeed. I hope that someday the Tank role will be revised and changed from being an MMO clone to something we can be proud of.
