Damned if you do, damned if you dont.
They are damned either way because the intent to do was still there.

I don't care, it's the principal of the matter. And besides, Bobby Kotick can still overrule Blizzard's CEO.

Slightly off, but not in a bad way.

People don't go to Facebook specifically to network, they go to Facebook to maintain existing social networks and re-establish old ones.

I don't know if any of my old high school or college friends play World of Warcraft, so I'm not going to use it for the same purpose as I would Facebook.

  10. You know, I just thought of this...

I knew people who worked in a police task force on online sexual predators, and a few of their officers posed as 13 year olds kids on World of Warcraft and other games trying to catch potential child molesters.

I wonder how many law enforcement activities are going to be disrupted because of this. They kinda need the anonymity also to hunt down these predators.

(P.S. No, I'm not saying which agency or department these people worked for or if they play CoH also)

Honestly, "We Are The World" not that long of a song, it just seems longer because the chorus repeats over and over again.

I'll see what I can do for lyrics
  12. I just hit on an idea after watching The Cleveland fans singing a parody of "We Are The World" in order to keep LeBron James.

Someone needs to get a bunch of WoW players together to sing about how bad this policy is. I mean come on, it's more important than some basketball player, right?

    What I propose is this:

    - Write a song to the tune of "We Are The World" against RealID (Hell we got 17 pages of material here, plus we can throw in references to Infinity Ward/Call of Duty as a bonus)
    - Get a bunch of WoW players together to record it
    - Make a video using machinima or something.
    - Post the YouTube video on WoW forums (official and unofficial everywhere) and see what happens.

(I could take a stab at writing the lyrics, I guess, the rest I'd need help on because I don't have an active WoW account or audio or video editing software)

He works for Blizzard, what did you expect?

No, no it doesn't give Blizzard the right. The way Blizzard is handling this is wrong.

Like I said, using dynamite to kill a fly. You blow up more than just the fly, and you're going to have a a hell of a time explaining the explosion to people.

Doesn't mean the forum goers aren't an issue though.

Sounds like the governments solution to the immigration issue. Posting Warnings and doing nothing.

Today, and my MMO group represents a very slim majority, three people I know not only canceled their accounts over THIS, but removed the game from their computers. One went so far as to sell all their equipment and give the money away to their guild.
I didn't say what Blizzard was doing was right, or that Blizzard's "solution" wasn't worse than the problem (and it probably is), just using it to illustrate that there is a clear problem with the majority of people who use the World of Warcraft forums, which some people around here are unwilling to acknowledge.

In fact, I would compare Blizzard's actions in this situation to using dynamite to kill a fly. Sure, you'll kill the fly, but you'll blow out a significant portion of your house.

So are you when you try to gloss over WoW's forums and claim that they're not that bad.

You may disagree with how Blizzard's handling this, hell, I'm not even sure it's the best solution myself, but they apparently are getting enough feedback from people canceling their accounts about their forums that they feel the need to do *something* about it, even if it's a controversial something.

If there wasn't a problem, Blizzard would follow the status quo.

    Your sweeping generalization's pretty falsifiable.
You talking about "sweeping generalizations" is hypocritical to begin with, given that you yourself just said you made sweeping generalizations about CoH players on their forums.

But you're just astroturfing for the game, so whatever.

You're probably right. Whether or not Blizzard does this though, they're never getting my dollar again.

Except they haven't and they're not going to, ergo a pox on the houses of both Blizzard and WoWtards.

You must be going to different WoW official forums than what I was going to when I played.

They're called "WoWtards" for a reason, Kali.
