Little is known about Polynom's early life, what is known is that he was born in Paragon City in the 1920's. He patrolled the streets of Paragon taking down organized crime and drug lords in the late 1930's and was seen fighting the Fifth Column along with Statesman in World War II when Paragon City was attacked. During this battle he was shot and killed and his body was lost in the depths of Paragon Bay. Years later during the Xindi invasion his body was discovered by the Xindi. It was recovered and examined due to the amount of sophisticated technology it carried despite its age. They created a clone body and placed Polynom's consciousness in it in an attempt to replicate the anti-magic implants Polynom had developed. However the body could not be controlled as the Xindi had planned and Polynom escaped. He made his way back to Paragon City and registered himself as a hero. He has no real super-powers save for his cunning intellect and skills with machinery. He has developed several devices to aid him in battling super-powered foes and often remarks how times have changed since he first was a hero.
