So last time I tried to do a Talk Like A Pirate Day homage, but got stuck in RL. No theme this time around, but feel free to show up, chat, and have a good time!

And here I must tender my apologies for being late; real life intruded and ended up being a couple of hours tardy.

Rose was nice enough to model her pirate outfit for me and Liz was being Liz. :-)

My understanding is that S.P.A.N.C. (Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirl) is a game of some sort designed by Steve Jackson games and illustrated by Phil Foglio. I'd love to hear the story on this one. :-)

Saw the game at the Portland Pirate Festival this weekend, but didn't have the cash handy. *sighs*

And in belated honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, I am declaring a Pirate theme for this gathering! Dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate. It's not a requirement, but I thought it'd be a nice change.

Ascendant and Rose are are having relationship issues, Nurse White was being her usual self, Flea is in trouble for blabbing on something he shouldn't have, Sea Hawk and Ascendant had a quiet confab, playing Poker with Ascendant will either get you very rich or disgusted as he has no poker face to speak of.

Did I miss anything?

Why: Why not? It's a time to hang together as a group and reminisce. No pressure, no requriements. Just come and hang and have a good time.

I understand that there's a 9/11 memorial thing being hosted by The American Legion, I think (please feel free to correct me). And I certainly won't take their thunder, so if folks want to visit with them, that's cool.

Greetings Fellow Heroes!

There has been some good, positive response to the Old Timers' Gathering that it was proposed by Eat_Me that we try for a twice-a-month gathering, using the dates of the Second and Fourth Saturdays of each month. So here we go:

What: Old Timers' Gathering (bring a hero that you've had for a while or a newer one. Makes no difference)

When: Saturday, August 28th, 2010

Time: 6:00pm Pacific Time (thereabouts)

Where: Gemnii Park, where we used to hang out.

Notes: It's a time to relax, have fun, and share some good RP. And check your sanity at the entrance to the park. :-)

Also, apparently The American Legion will be doing a 9/11 gathering when we meet up in September. I imagine we'll be discussing whether to attend or not. We'll keep it loose and open and come to a general consensus.

Wow, I'm happy to see that there's so much interest in these get-togethers, so I'm a bit overwhelmed, but glad to see there's so much interest.

To give credit where credit is due, Dame Colette was the one who originally proposed the once-a-month thing and I just sort of rolled with it and stuck it on the forums as a general reminder. As interest grows, maybe we can get The Cape to come out and throw out a show. *makes Puss in Boots eyes at The Cape*

There's no formal organization to this thing (yet) and who knows what the future will bring. However, who am I to stand in the way of a fun time?

So let's try a 2nd and 4th Saturday get-together for a couple of months and see what plays out. I'll post the official announcement the week before and we'll see who shows. That work?

And Kant, since we're going to be meeting again soon, we can discuss it at the park, eh?

D'oh! I thought I'd posted the time. Well you know what they say, "There are two things that go when you get older. The first thing to go when you get older is the memory. I forgot what the other thing was." My apologies. :-)


However, it was a lot of fun and as long as there's interest, we'll keep doing it every month. I'll make sure to post it a week before the event next month and hopefully, I'll remember all the tiny little details.

When: August 14th (Second Saturday of Every Month)
Where: Gemnii Park

Greetings all,

So there I was, playing Sea Hawk, and I saw Ascendant was up as was Moggie (playing Gamer's Widow). Big A told me he was in Galaxy at a gathering that was being thrown by one of Virtue's Supergroups.

So I bound over there and start chatting with him, in charactaer and out, getting caught up on "stuff" (I love that word, don't you? It can include so many things). Next thing you know, Gamer's Widow is involved in the chat as well.

Two other young heroes join us, listening to us "oldsters" rehashing old times, and one of us (I think it was GW) suggested we head over to Gemnii Park where it's quieter and we won't interfere with the party.

The two youngsters join us (Sorry, I'm really bad with names) and the conversation continues. There's always the "Do you remember when..." conversation, of course.

A number of other Old Timers join us; Cygnata playing her dragon, Darkfang, Ravenbane, Parzifal, Sister Colette, Lady Reiki, Sayterra, 'Sin, Kelp, Rowr, La Pucelle, Smersh, and a slew of others. There were a few missing and their presence was sorely missed. (Killer Whale! Kelenar! Ireland Love! Big Lou Seattle! Captain Valor! Plasma Stream! 3rd Rail!)

All we did was sit around and chat, remembering old times. Early on, one young hero stopped by and asked for help, which was gladly rendered. We managed to give a good showing of ourselves.

What's the point of this, you ask? During all this, it was suggested that we meet the 2nd Saturday of each month, hang out, relax and renew old acquaintances. And if a young hero needs help, we help'em.

So.....August 14th is the 2nd Saturday for August and I send out the call to ALL heroes to come join us in Gemnii Park from 6:00pm Pacific Time til whenever we decide to break up!

Make sure to bring snacks.
