Sorry I didn't go back and see what you had posted in response too.

.... it's only been six minutes (I posted at 11:07am EDT, you posted at 11:13am EDT). Um, "good morning" ...? ^_^

As I said, I agree that the price is a bit much for what we're getting. It might've been nice to include a temporary power - for an example plucked from thin air: a once-an-hour, five-minute Fear Resistance/Protection power, usable on other characters (bu not yourself) ... because it's easier to not be afraid, knowing someone loves you ... or something like that.

I'm not paying for costumes with real money. I already pay to play the game, I'm not paying more to cloth the characters. This should've been part of the Usher mission awards or something like all the special costumes in the past were.

    All?

You mean, noone had to pay extra for the Justice and Sinister parts and pieces obtained with the Good versus Evil pack, or online code?

And noone paid extra money to get the CoH DVD edtion, which gives the Cape of the Four Winds ...?

And noone paid extra money to buy the CoV Colelctor's Edition, which gives access to the Arachnos chest emblem and Arachnos cape?

    ...

Son, we've been paying extra for costume pieces almost since Launch Day.

    [/ QUOTE ]

GvE pack came with Pocket D pass, Jet Pak, and a badge if you just bought the add on.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Irrelevant. You paid more for a range of things, costume pieces included - so SOME of that extra money was for the costume pieces.

    [ QUOTE ]
CoH DVD Collector's Edition came with one HeroClix, prestige power slide, and exclusive 16 page comic book and a badge.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Same deal.

    [ QUOTE ]
CoV DVD Collector's edition came with The Arachnos insignia for chest and cape. It also came with a art collection book from both sides of the law. It came with 7 HeroClix and also a badge. It also came with the game and 30 days play.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    Same deal.

    [ QUOTE ]
That is 90% of everyone's beef with it. Cut the price down to a more reasonable one.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Oh, that I won't disagree with. I paid the $10, because that' the asked-for price. I'd've been happier if it was a $5 pack, and I think $5 is about right for something of such narrow interest-range.

However, the guy I was responding to, about the GvE and collector's Edition stuff? Had claimed that we had NEVER been charged extra money for costume parts before. And that claim was just plain not right.

Like the RWZ Rikti maps through the caves? Those totally unique maps?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Unfortunately, those are barely more than a reskin. There is nothing FUNCTIONALLY different about them at all. There are no power plants you can destroy to shut down their power grids or force fields. [... blah blah blah ...]

    [/ QUOTE ]
What you're asking for, here, is not "new map tilesets", but raher, "new types of gameplay". Call a spade a spade, rather than lieing through your teeth, please.

    [ QUOTE ]
But I will say, at least RWZ did have that one small cosmetic change - the first one in a long, long time. The vast majority of RWZ uses the same tilsets we have been seeing for years.

    [/ QUOTE ]
... *sigh* ... never done the Faultline arc, have you? There's a reskin of the High-Tech Lab tileset that includes new pieces (collapsed ceilings and such). That was I8, IIRC.

I don't know if anyone's even mentioned it, but I wouldn't be surprised if after the event there's a wedding video of the wedding event put up for those who couldn't make it.

    RE: the live event

Casual players ain't on test, yo.

In a more verbose fashion: I realize that CoH is a very friendly game to us casual folks, and I don't mind the occasional hardcore fanservice. Y'all go have a good time with your $10 wedding packs.

BUT... it's never fun to be so obviously disinvited to party with the cool kids.

    [/ QUOTE ]
I am not a hardcore player. I'm casual. And I've got a character in AP on Test right now, waiting for ... well, for fifteen hours from now.

Just so I'm clear on this... you want us to hang out in Pocket D, and then with a 15 minute warning we all need to race to the Atlas or Mercy usher hoping we can get in? Hmm... sounds... chaotic...

I see dozens of characters all swarming around the usher, clicking madly, in the hope of being one of the few that makes it in. And since it's being done so late in the day, the entire East Coast will be home from work, making it that much harder to get in.

Not to be a party poop, but I think a lot of people are going to get very frustrated.

    [/ QUOTE ]
No need to hang in Pocket D. Hang in Atlas - I will be.

And, I get the impression that you click once, and you get a random CHANCE of being "in" or not. If not, you can't click again, until they reset the Usher ... which would happen when they send out that fifteen-minute alert.

The polite thing to do, if that is the case, is to click on the Usher, then step away to make room for everyone else.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Once a person has attended the wedding they will get a token, not a physical token but event token which will not allow them entrance a second time. Hopefully this helps to quell some concerns.

The main reason behind keeping the party centrally located is the chance for instancing Atlas Park and Mercy. If people want to wait in those areas they are more than welcome to do so, however the Ski Chalet and theme parties over in Pocket D are sideline events for people to enjoy regardless of the wedding event. Join the party or wait in line, we'd like to present you with some options.

Also something you may have not considered is copying over two characters, one parked at the usher of your choice and the other in attendance at the theme party in Pocket D. Once you hear the 15 minute announcements swap over to the other character and voile click away.

Either way we hope to have you join us on Test server tomorrow for some fun.

    Regards,

    Ex

    [/ QUOTE ]
Ex - IMO, it would really help if you could explain exactly how the Ushers determine who gets in, and who doesn't.

Is it "first come, first serve" ...? (There'll be a mad rush on the Usher half a second after the announcement goes out ...)

Is it "keep trying until he says yes" ...? (People will sit there and click, click, click, click, click, click ... until it says YES, or the zone crashes.)

Is it "click, then wait to be told wether or not you're on the invite list" ...? (This would work fine, if people are sufficiently informed.)

Is it "click once, get a yes or no answer, and that's your one attempt for that round" ...? (This would also work well, again if people are sufficiently informed.)

Is it ... something completely different, and I haven't even gotten close?

    ...

Regardless, describing the basic process would probably go a long way to settling people down, and reducing the Angst quotient. Or, well, I guess if it's a deeply flawed system, the explaination could make us explode in a frenzy of "what were they thinking" doomcrying, chicken-little-esque, run-in-circles panic ... heh.

The one thing I would have liked to see for the guys to complete the whole tux would have been a cummerbund.

There's no cumberbund because there's a vest, which is appropriate for a tailcoat. Cumberbunds are only worn when you're not wearing a vest.

This is my first Valentine's Day Event. If the sandals, victory laurel, and toga costume options are offered this year as quest rewards...are they only applicable to the characters who complete said quest? Or are they unlocked for all characters on my account?

    [/ QUOTE ]
Character-specific. If you have thirty alts - get used to grinding those missions out over, and over, and over, and over, and ...

    [ QUOTE ]
Also, are they unlocked permanently? Meaning, if I unlock the sandals by completing DJ Zero's quest, then can I use them 2 Months from now on a new character? Or can they only be used/applied during the Valentines Day event?

And to stay on-topic, I will re-iterate my position on the wedding pack: too little value for too much money. I won't be purchasing it for both of those reasons. I'm not going to act all outraged over it, though.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Now if it gave a sixth costume slot, then maybe.

    [/ QUOTE ]
See, that's my only problem - I have to scrap an entire costume for this, and the Wedding Pack didn't even give me a costume change token, yet alone a new costume slot

Dude, it's on TEST. What do you care? Copy yourself over anew, or whatever. Medi-Lad is only level 15 (I play him only very rarely), and has only one single costume slot. I over-wrote it - remember, this is on Test, not a Live server - without hesitation.

However, please keep in mind that Sean Fish and his wife Jen will actually be at the keyboards running Manticore and Sister Psyche respectively. Matt "Positron" Miller will actually be playing Positron in the event, as will all the rest of the dev team. ing. More details will follow. Thanks in advance for your understanding.

    OoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOoOo

*** ACTUALLY *** at their keyboards?

What in the heck. Are we supposed to swoon like these are rock stars or something? We know they are going to be firing off macros or slamming in scripted text. It isn't like there will be meaningful RP or anything actually interesting happening.

Watching two strangers get married is about as special as watching paint dry. Foisting this on us like it is "special" is insulting to our intelligence.

    [/ QUOTE ]
Do whatever you want. It's an invitation, you can show up or not. If you feel insulted, I doubt it was the intention of the post. I'm sorry if you don't feel like part of the community.

They're not asking for any swooning; it's a social event. That's a basis for a lot of what an MMO is about. I'm sure Kleiburn might agree You don't have to be social if you don't want to, that's your choice as a player.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    I agree with Obsidius, 110,000%.

I will be trying to attend, on my alt Medi-Lad, because a slight connection to Manticore is written into his backstory (partly because of the Dev-title Sean gave him at the anniversary party, from whence my forum avatar comes; partly because of what I'd already written as his origin and history - which you can read at http://www.youngparagons.org/ ... on the left, under "Who's who", choose "main cast" and then "M"; M-L is the second character there).

So to me, I'll be going because it's part of M-L's story; he WOULD be there, period. And if all goes well, he will be: I'm logged out on him, in his tux, right under Atlas' statue. Hopefully, I'll get to the right NPC soon enough to be part of the first iteration of the day. I'll be doing my darnedest to RP him, without being an obnoxious pest about it, the whole time.

OTOH, if being there isn't your thing? Fine ... not every Event needs to be perfect for every person.

Also, the "abandoned SG base/Lab" reskin, with extra collapsed-hallway tiles, that came in with Faultline's rehab - I8, wasn't that? Would be nice to see it used more often than it is, but, it is a new tileset.

This may have been mentioned already (I didn't read through every page) but the price would seem more reasonable if it also included a month of game time like the GvE package did. Charging for "extra" content is a bad idea, IMO.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The $10 GvE code did not include a month of game-time. Think about it for a moment: one month of play-time commands a standard price of $15, by itself. Why on Earth would they sell you costume parts, emotes, AND that same month of play-time for less than $15? Usually, when you add things to an existing sales option, the price goes up, not down!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually the box GvE does come with a month free, though the online purchase of GvE does not. Just my 2 cents

    [/ QUOTE ]
That's why I specified "the $10 GvE code".
  20. [ QUOTE ]
Actually, there should be a badge. Or does TonyV, Positron, and no one else remember the pocket D vip pack we could purchase which contained a badge?

    [/ QUOTE ]
That, actually, is the Good-versus-Evil Edition's "in-game goodies code", giving the extra stuff in-game that were attached to that edition, solely so that those of us who were around before that, didnt' have to pay $30 (at the time) for a whole new box and CD/DVD of the game, "just" for the in-game stuff.

    [ QUOTE ]
$9.99 for a few costume pieces to niche event or few concept characters, and like wise for 4 emotes? Thats way steep. Sorry but those items don't constitute 10 buck payout in my book unless it includes a special power and/or badge inclusion. Sorry Posi, i love just about every thing you've done for this game, but the badger in me "isn't buying" your logic here. (pun intended)

    [/ QUOTE ]
Then ... you are not the target audience / intended market. As a result ... just don't buy it.

    [/ QUOTE ]
    No.

It's 3pm Thursday, repeating FOR three hours. You do realise, that the man behind Manticore in real life, and his real life wife, will be playing the parts of Manticore and Psyche, respectively, yes? They can only do that for so long ... before needing to get away from us rabid, drooling fans. Especially as I'm guessing there'll be a "reception line" sort of affair, as part of each iteration ... a chance for everyone to get a screenshot with the happy couple, maybe get extraordinarily lucky and get one of those yellow dev-titles (then again, EVERYONE present might get "wedding guest" as a dev-title), that sort of thing.

It won't be a walk in the park for either of them, doing it (probably) every 30 minutes or so, for three hours. It'll be work. ^_^

You completely missed the point. Maybe I used too many words?

    Here it is in one line;

People without Credit Cards should be able to get this as well, so sort it out NCSoft.

    There, better?

    [/ QUOTE ]

Actually, you're right. I did miss your point, and I apologize; I thought you were joining in the chorus of complaints about this not being free content.

I actually agree with you on that point; there should be more payment options available for this. As others have said, there are the pre-paid Visa gift cards, so that does provide one alternative, but obviously, it's in NCSoft's interest to offer as many ways as possible for people to give them money.

Now, having said all that, I'd like to point out the extreme irony of complaining in one post about another poster's snark, and then posting something positively dripping with sarcasm and unwarranted bile yourself.

    [/ QUOTE ]
They should borrow a note from Xbox Live ... and make the cards worth Points. Let people's accounts carry a Point balance, and deduct the points as services are acquired - character renames, server transfers, monthly subscriptions, add-on packs, and so forth.

Replace Time cards with Points cards.

    ^_^
  24. [ QUOTE ]

I'll tell you what; this friday's drawing for MEga Millions is up to ~$180,000,000. If I win, I'll take home, after taxes and cash-option penalty, about sixty million.

So, if I win ... I'll pay NC^2 three million dollars, cash money on the barrelhead, to simply add the Wedding Pack to every single non-Trial account, active or not.

Would that satisfy your sense of entitlement ...?
