Tell me in the history of crime, at least a name of serial killer who killed anything else than helpless people.
[/ QUOTE ]
Stalin. Hitler. Vlad Tepes.
You don't have to be a psychopathic whackjob serial killer lurking in an alleyway, to be a psychopathic whackjob serial killer. The alleyway is entirely optional.
It all boils down to this: CAVEAT EMPTOR. Also stated as "you pays your money and you takes your chances." In other words, by entering a PVP zone, you assume the risk of being ganked at the LEAST (for you) opportune moment!
That's the way the PVP zones WORK. Be glad it's guaranteed that EVERY other player-controlled entity in the zone will be EXACTLY the same level as you are (due to the forcible sidekick/exemplar mechanic).
Some stalker named "733+ N1Nj4 d00d" ganks you when you're low on health? Buy up lots of inspirations to give yourself some +perception, fly back out there, FIND him if you can, and kill the low-down rat bastid back. It's a PVP zone, that's just the name of the game.
If you can't stand the heat - stay the heck outta the kitchen. -
[ QUOTE ]
Players have common sense and chose to attack weakened players (would they even bother hitting a NPC enemy if his health was down to 5% ? no, because there is no xp for this)
[/ QUOTE ]
Yes, actually, yes they would - because that weakened enemy still counts as a "kill" for badges, and is still work SOME xp - even if it's only 1xp, hey ... 1 xp for one attack ...? *shrug* if I'm wandering pat the lame-duck NPC anyway, why not?
[ QUOTE ]
2. PvPers don't want other players in "their" zones.
[/ QUOTE ]
Wrong. Dead, absolute, utter, stupidly wrong.
Noone wants to see whiners in any zone. And if you [censored] about being righteously dropped by a PC from "the other side", IN A PVP ZONE, then whining is precisely what you're doing.
Don't like the risk that comes from being in a PVP zone? Don't go.
Just. That. Simple. -
If you choose to enter a PVP zone, you have no grounds for complaint when someone else PVP's you. REGARDLESS of the circumstances!
During the PVP event on COV Beta, I got killed maybe three times - twice due in part to lag (by the time my computer realised I was being attacked, and displayed that fact to me, it was too late), and once due to the skillful and presistent (tenacious?) efforts of a hero who seemed determined to drop me - and he did, for which I congratulated him via /tell.
Yes, you read me right - congratulated. It was a righteous "kill", and never mind that I was already down to under half health after being hit hard by a large group of NPCs from Longbow (one of them used something from the Leadership pool, I think, and yanked off my security blanket of Stealth - no, not a stalker, a robo/FF mastermind ... why get yourself targetted for attacks when you can just order your disposable-and-replaceable minions into battle FOR you? ^_^).
There's no such thing as "wait your turn" in a PVP area - any more than NPCs need to wait THEIR turn. You aggro something, it hits you, and tough luck. Heck, it's been as much as said that it'd be legitimate to aggro a bunch of NPCs, drag them over, and shed the aggro onto your intended target, so as to swing the tide of battle ...! (I can picture a Stalker with Ninjitsu doing that, as they can shed aggro and go back under Hide even with a whole group nearby).
So, maybe, there you are with one mob ... and another comes along to attack you. Hey, that happens sometimes, right? So yu lean into THEM, too. And just as you're fullycomitted, and almost done killing them - really low on hitpoints/endurance, perhaps, and getting low on inspirations - *Pow!* ... you take an Assassn Strike to the back of the head, and go down like a sack of potatoes.
And it's not griefing; it's STRATEGY. If you're in a PVP area, and you get below half health? RUN AND HIDE, even if all you are fighting and can een see is "only" NPCs.
If you don't run, or if runnign doesn't work? Tough luck, chum, but .... that's what the PvP zones are all about.
Don't like that? Don't go to the PvP zones ...!
Yes, it IS just that simple. -

Stupid Brit question
is the American way
12am = noon
or
12am = midnight ?
[/ QUOTE ]
12am is midnight. We go from 11:59pm to 12:00am. "am" means "ante-meridian", or "before noon". "pm" means "post-meridian", or "after noon".
You can read "pm" as meaning "afternoon, evening, and night", while "am" is "morning" (including the pre-dawn hours).
12:00am = 00:00h
6:00am = 06:00h
12:00pm = 12:00h
6:00pm = 18:00h
As I write this, it is 3:30am, or 03:30h, EST; that means it is 8:30am, or 08:30h, GMT. (EST = "Eastern Standard Time (US)", GMT = "Greenwich Mean Time".) Whereas, when YOU wrote YOUR post, it was 1:39pm (13:39h) EST, or 8:39am (08:39h) GMT.
Does that help ...? -

Paper! I win!

I'm going to go with Wolf.
"Wolf chews up paper"
[/ QUOTE ]
Dammit, nothing beats all three.
But, since the paper's already chewed up... I'll go with Gun. Targets Rock, and shoots Wolf.
HAHAHA!
*hides from the Nuke that's sure to be coming*

God. She simply chooses to unmake any and all other competitors. -
[ QUOTE ]
At least that is my understanding.
[/ QUOTE ]
Mine as well. The lack of added server load and maintenance would be one way to explain the discounted monthly charge.
I'm expecting a COH/V combination account to cost $20 per month, myself. COV will need some income on a monthly basis, to pay for it's share of attention from the devs, WRT future updates and such. -
[ QUOTE ]
1. I noticed CoV is said to be a stand alone game, yet if CoH users want the option to build a base, they need to purchase CoV first.
Question: Is it not considered an expansion when a game affects another directly in the way CoV will be affecting CoH in this base building matter?
[/ QUOTE ]
Just because the two games interact with each other, does not make CoV an add-on or expansion pack. IT will be entirely possible to buy only CoV, never have once in yoru life had a CoH account, and get all the CoV content your heart could desire.
[ QUOTE ]
2. Consider that some CoH users do not want to be villains. Consider how many issue releases did not include a base building feature in CoH for loyal CoH users.
Question: Why make this unique base building feature (which seems the be the only thing new to CoH users besides being a villian and the content that follows), available to CoH users only thru buying CoV and maybe paying an extra monthly fee?
[/ QUOTE ]
To encourage sales of CoV, I'd presume. Besides, from what I've seen, it may be NO extra fee to have a COH-and-COV account pairing; the price guesstmate I've seen quoted here is $0-$5 (USD) extra, per month. -

[...] you know in the legan system saying one thing in print that a complete and total lie is called libal. And while it is often used in the terms of defimation of character the essense emains the same.
[/ QUOTE ]
For the act to qualify under the tort of Libel, the falsehood must be about a person, and must cause that person some real and measurable damage(s) (social, financial, or similar). That is not the case here, ergo, such a statement cannot qualify as libel. Period, end of story.
