W00T!! TTJ tonight!!
DJ and PSL we look forward to seeing you there. -
Without voice influctions it's hard to tell when someone is being facetious or seriously asking a question/making a request. But all the info needed is in my sig. For more information see the Justice server forum and the thread regarding TTJ, which can be found here. The second to the last post from me has all the info for tomorrow's event.

Here's a couple of threads on Elect/SS
First
Second
Although they don't directly address Toxic per se, they do discuss builds and defense. If you're looking to increase survivability vs Toxic might need to beef up Energize's recharge rate and your Regen rate in addition to Defense.
I believe this thread has a near Perma Energize build. -
I got to run a mission the other day with Panzerkunst and the build worked well w/o stamina. Nice build and thanks for showing it to me.
MaxLongstreet, thanks for posting the build. I haven't had a chance to run through it in detail yet, but appreciate you posting it. -
TTJ Tomorrow! Same Tank time, same Tank place!
See ya' all there! -
TTJ tomorrow, same Tank time, same Tank place! And.... we're running Synapse as our TF!
See ya' all there! -
KillerWhale, yes, there should be a bunch of Tanks in one place at one time. Once you're on a team, go crazy (it's usually a mad rush of Tanks to the mobs resulting in a scrum of Tanks colliding with hapless goons, mayhem ensues and nothing is left standing).
Whale b safe with scrum of Tanks. -
Constant, cool hope to see you there!
Weatherby, I hear what you're saying. Tanks really don't come in to their own until the SOs get kick in, and then really take off in their 30s. In the Tanker forums it's a common complaint/question from folks trying Tanks for the first time, or that have had them stuck at the lower levels. I'd say give TT a try. You'll get to see all levels, Power Sets, and play styles in action. And hopefully we can put a few levels on your level 5er. -
Hi all,
Just wanted to say thanks to all who have been turning out to the Wednesday night Hami's. I had a great time and I'll see you this coming Wednesday! -
Next TTJ will be on the June 8th! If you haven't rolled a Tank now's the time to try one out. If you've already got one, then bring it along. We'll be running Synapse's TF this time, which should be an easy level range to get your Tanks ready for (level 15 min) if they're not already there.
See ya' all soon, same Tank place, same Tank time! -
Hi all,
Tanker Tuesday turns to Virtue on June 22nd. Tanker Tuesday is a player run all Tanker team event. It usually last about 2 hours and during that time we run missions, Task Forces, Trials or anything else the game has to offer. All players, power sets, and levels are welcome, as long as you're a Tank!
We meet in King's Row by IP Gate (line up on the wall please, it makes team selection much easier) at 6pm PDT\9pm EDT and get things rolling from there.
If anyone has a suggestion for a TF or trial to run, please let us know. As a default we can look at running Synapse (usually allows greatest number of folks to participate).
So if you don't have a Tank, now's the time to roll one up and get it ready! If you already have a Tank bring it to our Tanker Tuesday Reload!
See you soon! -
Thanks for picking up the slack in my absence Rangle. No, I haven't fallen down a well, just been a busy weekend for me. But as Rangle has stated Tanker Tuesday is tonight on Champion. (actually I did post Champion's TT, but did it in the thread regarding our last reload)
Next Tuesday, the 8th is Tanker Tuesday on Justice (TTJ)
The Following Tuesday, the 15th will be on Freedom
Dechs Kaison, We can swing by Virtue on the 22nd. If you could talk up the event on your server's channels it would greatly help the turn out. I'll post to the server thread tonight to get the ball rolling. Feel free to contribute to it and make suggestions. We'll see you on Virtue in few weeks! -
Great info Sheline, I knew they had buffed the set, but didn't realize what they had done with Clobber. Looks like it still has the Mag 3 stun, so with the buffed damage, I'd agree it's a must take power (I'll have to respec my Macer....).
-
Shocking and Disorienting? But really, it should be a fun set. Currently there are several threads up on Electric Armor and more than a few on War Mace. I'd read through those and see what you think. You'll probably have to parse out what you want or what interests you build wise, but all-in-all it should be a solid combo.
Electric Armor will help add to damage with Lightning Field and keep the mobs drained of Endurance with Power Sink. Mace will do good damage as-well-as adding it's Disorient for additional mitigation. Your two big attacks come at 35 and 38 (although I do enjoy watching goons sail upward when using Jawbreaker, which I would recommend taking) and you'll get your first AoE at 28.
I tend to take all the powers in Electric Armor except Power Surge (I don't like the crash at the end. If you're into the uber buff powers, go for it). My Macer is too low for me to really give much advice on, but I probably won't be taking Clobber (it is a Mag 3 Stun so I could see an argument in favor of it). Take the Fighting Power Pool for Tough (and Weave if you decide to go that route). I'd take Hasten to stack with Lightning Reflexes and to push Electric Aromor's Set inherent Recharge advantage, and the Fitness Pool (unless you're willing to try a more advanced/expensive build). -
Quote:Guardian works fine for me (I've got toons on all servers). Let me know when you're available and we can set something up. You can send me a tell at @Warboss.Sure, not a problem. Well, as soon as my new PC gets here and I can start playing again.
I'm normally on Guardian, but we could meet on test as well, once I get that setup. I can't recall what level my elec/elec tanker is now, around 40 or so, I think (I've been away for a few months)? -
Panzerkunst, Not that I doubt your build but would enjoy seeing your toon in action as well as looking at the build.
MaxLongstreet, any chance you can post your build? -
Actual there are two great threads up right now in regard to Electric Armor. One focuses on the Recharge potential of the set the focuses on buildig Defense. I'd recommend reading both threads and see what you think and which suits your play style or intrigues you.
Electric Recharge Build
Building with Defense -
After you left we also rolled over Neuron. Our low level Tank had reached level 13. And filled the team again. So all-in-all a great TT. Thanks for hosting us Protector, see ya' all the next time we stop by!
Oh, and managed to get talk of a Warshade Wednesday going (I guess we'll have to see if that takes root or not)
Next TT is on Champion! Same Tank time, same Tank place! -
Personally I'd try the 4.65 second Foot Stomp to see how it works. If you want a monster coming out of the gate, then up your Defense. Even at x8 my Electric/Fire Tank does fine with very minimum Defense offered by IOs Sets and Weave (so much so, that I run without Weave active great deal of time and have looked at respecing out of it) (I'm working on other projects atm, so haven't revisited it yet). FSC cycles in about 5 seconds and Combustion in a little over 6. With Power Sink and Energize I can keep the goons drained and my Hit Points up, unless they have a slowing effect. Fire has no mitigation other than "kill faster" and we're talking about Rage Fueled Foot Stomp which should knock down approx 10 goons every 4.65 seconds (aggro limit is 17). KoB and Haymaker should take out at least one goon per cycle. Lightning Field will add additional damage as well as keeping the mobs Endurance down, thus reducing the number and severity of attacks they make. Personally I'd say play the build as-is and see how you like it.
If you want a monster coming out of the gate then add Defense now before trying this build. 45% is the magic number for soft capping. With 33% making a very noticeable difference and not being to hard to obtain. Smash/Lethal Defense is a good way to go. I've also had luck with the Positional Defenses Melee, AoE and Ranged. But generally speaking s/l is a more effect way to go.
Building for high s/l Defense can get expensive on a Resistance based toon, so if you don't have the Influence available, or the Sets already built it could be a while before you get to your goal. Also, your build will be/play MUCH different than the one posted.
If you want at toon that will run soft capped easily try rolling an Invuln/*. -
Stacking some Defense is always good, but if you look at the build Foot Stomp is hitting in less than 5 seconds, that in it self is worth trying out. Although I'm a big fan of getting Defense into Resist Sets, I'd say roll with the Recharge and see how it works. If you find you're taking more damage than you want start upping the Defense. But I would try it as-is first, then look to tweaking it further depending on your play style.
Although there is some Slow Resist built in, in a build that is "kill them faster" any slow down is potentially dangerous to the character. I've experienced some very nasty slow downs on my Electric Tank, and since speed is key to your survival, I would recommend the additional Slow Resist offered by Winter's Gift.
Lord_Cyclones, I think you'll be able to have similar mitigation using Fault and Tremor. -
Hi Pit, I blame my busy work schedule, life and laziness for not responding before now...
I noticed you went with recharge over almost all else (not a bad idea I did the same with my Electric/Fire). Looks like you're Foot Stomp is going to recharge every 4.63 seconds which should provide excellent damage mitigation. You've got Winter's Gift Slow Resist (something I haven't done yet on my build, but would have suggested). And you've got KoB, PS and Energize all recharging nicely, I'd say it looks like a good build. Try it out and see how you like it.
On my Elect/Fire I'd like a bit more defense (but then I don't have Foot Stomp). I've looked at Elect/SS, so try it out and let us know how you like it! -
My two infs worth:
If you want AoE go with Fire. Ice/Fire Tanks are very effective/efficient at crowd destruction (and a lot of fun to play).
Dark Melee has the Awesomeness that is Siphon Life, which shall we say is a "very aggressive combat heal". And can help you survive when your Defense waivers. As Aett stated it is more of a utility set, but does put up good numbers. Don't be afraid to move around and position yourself to get the most from Soul Drain and Shadow maul. I haven't done Ice/DM (although I think about it from time to time), but I have run several DM Tanks, and it is a fun set.
Personally, I like taking Tough an Weave on my Ice Tanks (actually on most of my tanks, as it makes them that much more survivable), but it is a play style and personal choice.
Go with either Pyre Mastery or Energy Mastery for you Epic. Pyre will give you Fire Ball and Char (which can be helpful against Sappers) and Energy will give a very helpful KD/KB (on greens and lower)/damage power with Energy Torrent which puts the goons on their backsides and give you that much more time for some additional shots/mitigation (this works really well with FSc)
Let us know which way you go and how you like it, best of luck and welcome to the wonderful world of Tanking! (BTW, Tanker Tuesdays are a great place to go and see all the Tanker sets in action). -
Tonight, Protector, be there or be squishy!
