Maybe the moderators are not as irrational as you and have no desire to ban a post because a couple of posters tell them too.

I'm sorry, did I miss the part of the forums that said by virtue of my gender, I was obligated to intellectually beat you into submission to become the 'alpha male'? Or you me, for that matter?

You started this thread with a very clear agenda, and that agenda had little to do with movies and more about your viewpoints on society, gender equality, racial equality and moral/racial/cultural superiority.
Its all related. Not to hard to understand. Society is becoming more stupid, politically correct and emasculate(weak) so movies are becoming more stupid, politically correct and emasculate (weak). Movies are just reflecting the population.

Yeah cause we all know degrees make a person smart. Degree in film making? ....So what you are a technician? A person with a degree in History, Psychology, Philosophy or Geography is more qualified to discuss the CONTENT of movies than you with their knowledge of historical facts, human behavior, cultural knowledge and population concensus.

How would getting a degree in film help you explain the rationality of the content of the film? Somehow you getting a degree in film rewrites history and makes slaves in 1775 South Carolina free or justifies the emasculation of men in film? Hardly.

Good to see that you want whatever you disagree with banned. Guess that Film degree of yours did not teach you a thing about Constitutional law or the logic of Voltaire.

Yeah posting " OPs opinion does not matter" and posting condescending pictures is not trolling. Giving people who do such things their just rewards is.

Good to see that if you don't agree with the topic, you want it banned. Truth is so reviled isnt it.

You people are only proving my point of why movies suck today.

He ended up traveling to several locations around world staying at each location for a month or two including Norway. I'm pretty sure they could have found someone in Norway to do it, but they wanted him.

Besides, its not like hiring from America or even coming here means the US Government knows automatically what is going on.

Understandable but wasn't the Norweign base in the THING a facility controlled by the Norweign government? To my knowledge it was not a company. What company would seek profits in Anarctica?

So if it was a governmental facility , the Norweigns hiring an American scientist to study alien remains they want kept secret is equivalent to Americans hiring a Norweign scientist to study the suspected alien remains at Roswell , New Mexico and then letting the scientist return to Norway when they want the discovery hidden from the public. The Norweign is not bound by American law.

If the directors had any boldness the film should have been in Norweign but I guess the moronic populace does not want to suffer the agony of reading subtitles. The American scientists was just an excuse to put an American in the movie and have the movie in English. America after all is the center of the world..according to the wise American population.

lol I was actually stationed in Alaska and saw Sarah Palin twice. Our predeployment ceremony she gave a speech and did an awful HOOOAAHHHHH and everyone in the formation felt uncomfortable lol

Commie immigrants? Did someone rewrite the history books or something. Norway was communist and in the Warsaw Pact rather than NATO?

lol I know its a joke.

As for this particular topic, any "authority" you may have had evaporated with your praise of Braveheart 2. I wouldn't normally say that that is of course my opinion, but it seems that some things need to be spelled out.

There was a Braveheart 2 or did you mean to type "too" ?

I spoke of the problems with Braveheart. It was entertaining overall but riddled with ridiculous inaccuracies.

Yeah because logic is on your side. Not like Norweigns hiring a person NOT BOUND BY NORWEIGN LAW to study alien remans they want kept secret is stupid or anything.

    How? That makes no sense.

Does not really seem economical for DC to pay a couple dozen people to write a bad review on Iron Man 2 when they could spend money elsewhere. I am not saying it doesnt happen... I just do not see it happening nearly as much as companies paying people to promote movies by giving good reviews.

If this blade is a two sided sword....one side is definately bigger than the other.

Being fictional is not the problem...being irrational, silly and emasculate is. I have an imagination and can , for example, go along with the story in the THING 2011 about an alien crashing thousands of years ago in Anarctica. What I cannot go along with is the fact that these Norweigns, who according to the movie wanted to keep the alien discovery a secret, would travel to the USA and hire an American scientist rather than someone from Norway.

Historical movies have more of a responsibility in my opinion, even fictional stories that take place in a historical background. The movie BRAVEHEART was a fun movie to watch yet it is a mess of historical inaccuracies. The movie was also insulting to my intelligence as it tried to make you believe that at the Battle of Stirling a lesser equiped Scottish army outnumbered 3 to 1 could defeat a much larger English force on open ground simply cause they were determined enough. In reality the Scots only won the battle because they caught the English army crossing a bridge and were able to bottleneck them before they could cross. (The Battle is actually called Battle of Stirling Bridge)

Movies can be fictional but they cannot throw all sense out the window and expect to be good. In Superman Returns, I could believe that he could disappear for 5 years to explore Krypton... what was contrived and made no sense was how he did not tell anyone including Lois before he left.

Explain to me how me stating that there is no "LOGICAL" reason a black man would be on a Norweign base or how there is no "LOGICAL REASON free blacks would be in a movie based in 1775 South Carolina or that the Samurai stood against the Meiji Revolution in Japan is Racism ?

I like transformers because I always have. my inner 6 year old comes out in full force when I saw the trialer for first time. There's just something awesome about giant transforming robots beating crap out of each other.

Bunch of people I know liked the movies though ranging from my 50 something mom, my 70 year old coworker I borrowed my DVDs to, and 20 something Ex girlfriend who went to see Revenge of the fallen without after I showed her the first movie. My sisters kids loved it, as my nephew turned to me, and said thank you Mike for bringing me before movie was even over as he was that into it back when he was 5 for first film. I don't have to explain to them why Optimus Prime one of the greater fictional characters ever, they know and understand for themselves.

Are weak spots and thing I'd changed if I had chance. Absolutely, but as a huge fan of the Ip, even if I hated the films I couldn't deny how much it's done for the franchise. I see it as a win no matter what happens after the 3rd film. Sorry you hated the films and were surrounded by off duty. That said, you re overreactting a bit about.

(P.S. I love a good rant as much as next guy, but you went entirely too long without making enough points for all surplus.)
Transformers 1 came out in 2007. Thats when I first saw it. I was in Iraq the year after. Transfomers 2 came out towards the end of my deployment.

    All Surplus ?

You want examples of stupidity, emasculation and political corretness in flims?

    THE THING 2011

Ok so why is there a BLACK MAN on a Norweign base in Antarctica? Guess there are so many blacks in Norway right. Wonder why he was put into the movie. Cater the the black audience ? Kinda insulting to my intelligence.

Why is there a woman on the base? Yeah I am sure an isolated weather or whatever station in the most isolated place on Earth is where a woman would be..not like its a mans job or anything..This movie takes place in the early 80s too. That girl must get passed around more than a joint.

    FLY BOYS

Yeah of course the main character James Franco is ok with rooming with a black man, being he is from Texas and this takes place in 1917 where racial tolerance was at its peak

Black Fighter Pilot..yeah cause there we so many of those in World War One.

    THE PATRIOT

Entertaining film.....but free blacks in 1775 South Carolina ? Yeah not like South Carolina was the most Southern of Southern states and first to secede from the Union or anything before the Civil War.

    G.I. JANE

Yeah cause a woman can really survive Navy Seal training....insulting to all Navy Seals

    ALIENS VS PREDATOR

Leadership figure is a woman..yeah let me tell you she is really convincing when she lays down the law and tells everyone "Dont be a hero" and not to help anyone in trouble. I really bought that

Gotta love these female warrior figures that are coming out...Centurion , King Arthur, Pirates of the Carribbean .. cause women are so convincing at it.

    LAST SAMURAI

Of course Tom Cruise is a badass who hates his commander for slaughtering Native Americans. After all, Tom Cruises character was born in the middle of the Nineteenth Century when people loved Native Americans. Not like we had recently expanded West at their expense.

Not only is Tom Cruise racially sound and politically correct but he supports the old order of Samurai that is standing against the industrialization and modernization of Japan. Nah , lets not modernize Japan...lets keep it a undeveloped feudal country controlled by the Shogunate and ransack the rail roads.

No wonder these people were so stupid to charge into gatling gun fire on horses. No doubt Japanese laugh at this film.

    PEARL HARBOR

Luckly in reality we did not have these young, girly punks defending Uncle Sam in WW2 or we would have been in trouble. We went from Midway (1976) to this (2001) ?

    TEEN MOVIES

A lot of these movies came out when I was in high school or after. I could never watch these as the guys in the movie are total whimps. With these weak male characters being in these teen movies no wonder our youth is so enfeeble.

    CANT HARDLY WAIT

Yeah go obsess and chase after the girl who is dating the Jock..write her a love note ..wuss

    AMERICAN PIE

Parts of this were funny. But watching the jock being all sweet to the girl made me sick. After she angrily storms off about him being a Jerk , he tries to explain himself to her instead of him just not giving a crap and letting her walk away like a real man would.

Guy also has to beg and apologize to his girl friend cause he said out loud " I want to get laid" So he is apologizing for being a man ? Might as well get neutered putz.

    SUPER BAD

I will admit I enjoyed this movie overall. The main character.. tall skinny kid, is such a wuss. He is not only insecure but he also fails to bang that girl when he had the chance because she was drunk or something. What a chump. Thats ok... Im sure that win you points in heaven. He should have took some tips from McLovin

I dont know when the emasculation started..maybe with the show FRIENDS or something. Guys having platonic relationships with women lol .... weird

I have my problems with nuTrek, but the villain's motivations is way low on the list.

I also have to say, you are pretty much the first person I have ever encountered first hand who thought The Patroit was anything but a bowl of excrement. Your whole War Movie rant reeked of jingoism.
They gave the villain a lazy motive. They put no work in the story. Thats the bottomline. And they passed it off like it was ok which insulted my intelligence.

Nothing wrong with jingoism. Plus the Patriot was fun to watch dispite historical inaccuracies.
