Quote:It is and it isn't. Some things work better in zones because of the mobs there, drones, DR, Travel Suppression, larger groups (anyone remember sg vs. sg fights in Arena? An 8 vs 8 Arena PvP match is better than an RV match if you are trying to resolve a "who's better that who's group for PvP". In an Arena there is no running to the base for safety, no droning, no zoning out to get more inspirations, no calling for reinforcements and saying "hey you had 2 groups against me, I only have 1 group" stuff, no crying when someone interupts a match, etc. Also, there is score keeping to say how many kills you got... none of that... I killed you blah blah blah times... oh no you didn't... blah blah blah. But then again... you guys could just use this....
I'll be around to watch/officiate the match if you chose to use either of these above tactics. =P). There's also a ton of space to run and those lovely heavies...
Arena is different. You can only use Tier 1s and temps, you need to manage your escape powers/insps and you only have 10 minutes to get your kills in.
I know Twixt was a beast in zones but I don't know if he ever Arenad, for example.
That said, my Rad/Therm is now procced up and almost has Born in Battle done, so I'll have a vill to help out Redside or heroes to help out Blueside in RV...or Arena.
If anything goes down Funk let me know, I'd be glad to help/sub wherever there is PvP going on.
(P.S. I need Atlas Park, Steel Canyon, IP and Bricks Mayhems for Invader)

Quote:It's possible.Serious question: Is this a plausible scenario:
Don't farmers also make money? Doesn't having lots of money and an emphasis on speed and convenience (these ARE farmers we're talking about) lead to farmers overpaying for stuff (stuff supplied by other farmers) thus potentially driving up prices while delivering the extra influence mostly to other farmers? Thus leaving people who don't choose to farm somewhat behind?
Is there no chance that's going on?
Remember though that the highest-paid price is given to the lowest-listed item. Eventually, a regular or semi-regular player hits their own lottery. -
Quote:No.
What YOU seem ignorant of is the fact that farmers are supplying less desirable recipes in greater quantities while simultaneously jacking up the price of more desirable recipes. The glut of less desirable recipes hurts casual/normal players by keeping the price of them on the market so low that it is more profitable to simply dump them at the stores or, if that is not an option at the time, delete them to make room and hope you get lucky.
I just, in the last few days, sold a Ragnarok Triple, two Coercive Persuasion: COnfuse Duration, Gravitational Anchor Proc and other stuff redside so I could kit out my Rad/Therm.
When I farm, the ONLY stuff that gets vendored is SO/TO/common recipes. Crafting even the most piddly of recipes gets back between one and 10 million influence.
Also...surprisingly, you can't jack up prices because buyers set the price point they wish to meet!
If I see a purple set piece selling at 40,000,000 I can list mine at 42,000,000 and it won't move or I can list at 18,000,000 or 22,000,000 and get a sale...
Quote:The more people farm, the more money RMTers make, plain and simple. Why? Because the more people farm, the more inflation there is in the game, the more casual/normal players can't obtain the high-end stuff, the more some will resort to buying influence from RMTers to avoid having to engage in the tedium that is farming. Like I said, farmers are causing this problem, not helping it. Please stop trying to rationalize selfishness. If I were an RMTer, I would pray night and day that this game go more and more to the farmers so that average Joes would have to buy my stuff to even come close to keeping up.
The only way 'casual gamers' cannot get their stuff is if they miss the massive W on their maps and fail to use game resources. Plus, they can ask about the Market and people will be glad to help.
On my recently 50d Plant-Psi Dom, I decided to ONLY use SOs and tickets until I got to the 40s. I made around 40,000,000 - 50,000,000 selling Pool As like Thunderstrikes, Crushing Impacts, Detonations, Karma KB and the ocassional Steadfast ResDef.
Even if you sell JUST your salvage you'll make enough for Single Origins, which are the baseline for gameplay.
Quote:You could farm if you wanted to, but really, there wasn't much to do with those extra millions of influence other than give it away or use it to twink your other low-level characters.
Quote:That is the point to which the devs should strive to bring the game back to. Where casual players have some stuff, avid players have more stuff, and farmers might have just a little bit more, but no significant advantage over the people who are avid players as they do now. I guarantee you that 1) you would see a dramatic drop in RMT spam, and 2) the game would be much more fun as people actually played it.
She had no freaking idea how to use the Market. In our global channel, she says she's going to need help transferring inf to her new alt.
I took her to the Market, told her to sell her big insps on the Market and her TOs to the vendor. Then, I directed her to buy some common recipes and vendor them. As she got more inf, she bought and vendored pricier stuff. She had 8,000,000 by level 10 and increased that to 12,000,000 through salvage sales and such. Since it was a throwaway toon, she wast set for life.
On another player in my SG, I offered inf for TF rolls. I got ok stuff, he got inf.
The point is...even someone that plays a little each day or each week can make TONS of cash. If you want that purple, sell sell sell or save or flip or craft or cash in those Merits and Tickets.
I just got an Apoc Proc Redside last night on my Rad/Therm, no farming involved. Just crafting, selling, listing, patience... -
-
Generally I join server global channels, like BMT of Champion, Cozmic's Playground for Pinnacle, Repeat Offenders for their group of SGs..,and go from there.
If I'm in the wild (a new server), I go with the flag up:
(15 Rad/Thermal Corr lft. Please send tell, no Farms please) or send some tells to various people. Broadcast spam of LFT usually never gets me anywhere. -
It's someone on Champion (not myself), as stated in our badge channel.
-
Today is opposite day, Calvinballs can't enter the no-Freem zone.
I'm sure the rules will be back up soon, CoHers are pretty mellow for the most part anyway. -
My PvP Corr 'needs' a lot of Procs and high end Uniques.
Quote:If farmers would stop doing what they do, two things would happen. 1) As the demand for valuable recipes and enhancements goes down, the prices would follow. You can't sell a purple Whiz Bango for a billion if no one has a billion. 2) As the supply of what are considered "crap" recipes dries up, the price would also follow, meaning that when you get a Pacing of the Wallaby, you could actually get something for it to put torwards buying the purple Whiz Bango you want instead of just dropping it off at the store or deleting it because you're in a mission. Prices would normalize towards the middle, making it easier for casual and normal players to get stuff they want.
"Casual" and "Normal" players can get their stuff if they simply list on the market, bid on the market and use some patience. I can't remember the amount of times I've heard people in my SG global channel go: "Stuff is too expensive!" Then I'll show them how to make inf from level 1 up, no more complaints.
People will always want the Purples, the LOTG 7.5 etc...they're high end drops usable in a variety of builds and situations. What may occur is that more Purples will ber produced with the I16 changes, lowering their price.
Quote:On top of that, how do you think that the RMT sellers are getting their influence? Farming. Do you think they're learning these skills on their own? No, they're using the very same techniques that are passed around within the farming community, a very "helpful" group of people who are more than willing to give them the knowledge of how to gather the stuff that they're constantly spamming us to try to sell.
Quote:Look at it this way. If the devs release a new feature where you could play a mini-game and earn twice as much influence as you can in the same amount of time now, prices would drop by half again, even if it were completely unfarmable. .
If Neuronia normally makes 5,000,000 per play session she will spend 5,000,000 (well, probably less as I like to have some inf sitting around) on the Market, etc.
If Neuronia normally makes 30,000,000 per session, she'll use that on the Market, SOs, whichever...if you want stuff to cost less then you need to produce more widgets. More widgets means lower prices for widgets until a new equilibrium is reached that buyers and sellers agree upon.
Also note you don't need the big items to function better. I've been getting Analyze Weakness sets dirtcheap and the 3% damage, 11% Accuracy and other bonuses are very nice...
Your mileage may vary. -
Respecced my namesake out of her Confuse and Hold purples (first build still has them heh) and put them all for sale and made several hundred million.
Got lucky on my Rad/Therm as a boss in BSF dropped an Oblit Quad 50, which I promptly crafted along with the second one I rolled off tickets.
Also sold PvP IOs on redside, should have no trouble IOing out my Rad/Therm. -
Signed up and had quite the chuckle here at work.
Some bitter gifts for the Goat, great idea! -
Ah what the hell, been meaning to move my Ill/Emp anyway.
Global: @Neuronia
Server: Freedom (also have toons on Infinity, Pinnacle and Champion)
Frequent toons: Shrouded Kara, Kara Caducaea, Fiery Kara
Experience: Emped for Integrity, Awesome Avengers as well as Paragon Elite and dUmb for short periods of time. Various TPvPLs (Liberty, Pinnacle, Test), zone Force Bolting, etc etc. I teamed with BlackBarrier and he didn't die (much).
Would be willing to copy over my Ill/Emp (IO/Accoladed) to Freedom for this, seems lulzy.

Peacebringer 44-47
Therm Corruptor 45-50 and started Accolading/IOing
Sonic Corruptor 1-15
AR/MM Blaster 21-41 in a rapid pace.
Fortunata 31-41
Stone/EA Brute 41-43
Also made a bunch on the Market, so I can later use an inf transfer service to move to redside. -
Instead of "Prevent 30 Fir Bolg from entering door" read the mission text as "Defeat all Fir Bolg in under 10-15 minutes."
If you just take the fight to the Fir Bolg in the farm area, you should do well. Bringing a Storm Summoning or Forcefield character along for repel helps as well. It is a pain of a mission though, I'll give it that much. -
Ice Mistral because of the slows.
15 Years into the Future, has Dr. Aeon and a gajillion Arachnos in a very small area. Used to set it to Unyielding padded with 4-5 people to test people's builds in the day before IO sets...
It's not canon but Arcanaville's Scrapper (or anything) challenge can get rough in spots...what usually gives me the most trouble is the Illusion mobs. -
Ah, you need to leave a content with Negative stars but not Positive stars, it seems.
This removes a great deal of the trolling fun that could be had.
Still, not altogether a bad system I suppose. I'll be +ing people that make good/funny comments and mostly ignoring the system otherwise. -
Quote:*shrug*What the heck were the devs thinking when they decided to do this?
People are going to farm/PL this weekend anyway. At least this puts everyone in a central area with low zoning. Loving the heck out of it myself, lets me get levels on many alts...and the money from AE will go into the Market anyway. -

How's about we just wrap up the season on Sunday the 9th then?

JK had asked me to help with the League and I'll certainly keep track of team W/L records and observe as needed/sub as needed.
I won't be keeping kill stats as I don't have screenies of every match and it would just be a pain the [censored] to get done at this point.
IMO, there are few enough teams that the last 3 weeks could probably be rolled into a single week...seeing otherwise Facegrape would have to wait two weeks for our final match, etc.
The last three weeks:
Week 6
Round 11:
Team That Damn Good vs. Team HUGS!
Team Chibbles N Bits vs Team LOLRPVP (Chibby is the only one her team)
Team Love the Turtles vs. Team YOUR FACE! (Pie-Ro remains for Turtles, YOUR FACE is afk)
Team 3-Way vs. Team OMFGHAX
Team WAI vs. Team h4z-b33|\|z (both AFK?)
Team Facegrape vs. Team C.L.D (C.L.D. is gone)
Bye - Team KGB
Week 7
Round 12:
Team Chibbles N Bits vs. Team KGB (No teams here)
Team That Damn Good vs. Team YOUR FACE! (Face is gone)
Team 3-Way vs. Team LOLRPVP (This is still on, woot!)
Team Love the Turtles vs. Team h4z-b33|\|z (h4z is gone, Pie-Ro remains)
Team Facegrape vs. Team OMFGHAX (Not sure if HAX is still around)
Team WAI vs. Team C.L.D (Both gone?)
Bye - Team HUGS!
Week 8
Round 13:
Team HUGS! vs. Team YOUR FACE! (Face is gone)
Team 3-Way vs. Team KGB (KGB is gone)
Team That Damn Good vs. Team h4z-b33|\|z (Think h4z is the only one gone)
Team Facegrape vs. Team LOLRPVP (Woot another match)
Team Love the Turtles vs. Team C.L.D (CLD is gone)
Team WAI vs. Team OMFGHAX (Both gone?)
Bye - Team Chibbles and Bits
So that's it so far. I wouldn't mind getting our match with LOLRPvP done so I can get back to IOing and Accolading my Therm...up to Garent, Johnny and Big Mike I guess. -
QR: The Market in Praetoria, where they'll get the new salvage (some was spelled out on the Market earlier) and so on?
If it can be made more plodding and inefficient, then... -
Yeah, I know I've been getting antsy myself
Sorry about that Garent, hate losing heh and it's not helping my team doesn't get a fight for the next two weeks.
Run it through on the Pinnacle PvPLeague channel, I don't think many would object. Cheers! -
That would be fine with me Garent but to be fair I think your team, mine and a few others are the only ones left.
Chibis is the only team member on her team, Turtles is down to Pie-Ro, 3-way is around, C.L.D is gone, H4z is gone, KGB is gone, WAI is ?, OMFGHAX is?
Think there's only two or three teams left.
