Hey there - thanks for the download. Sadly, it didn't slove the issue. I still have screwy item graphics, and I still crash. However, I seem to have found one recurring theme to the crashes. They seem to occur far more often (read : pretty much instantly) as soon as I mess with the lighting in our base, either by adding more lamps or by trying to change the ambient light levels.
Didn't locate the buffer option, but then again I am playing on a French client, so the translation may be weirder than I expect. Would you be so kind as to indicate precisely where in the graphic options this one is located? I'm pretty sure they keep them in the same order.
At least your download link let me know the issue isn't tied to my install. And since one of my friends has the same graphic mess in his base, I can safely assume it's not tied to my account directly. So it's either a Vigilance server issue (but I think we'd have heard about it already), a Mac client issue or one that only affects Mac users on the French server - which could mean just me and my buddy. :-p
Let me know if there's any other info I can provide you to help you track down that bug. -
It says I'm running v.1.0.3070 at home.
I found your post on troubleshooting and I was gonna try your Test App Switch trick, but I'm gonna back-up my current client on an external drive first, just in case. I'll see if it solves the issue.
EDIT : nope, didn't work. I'll post a couple screenshots from tonight, made while running the modified Test app in Safe mode.
Where can I locate the Geometry buffers you mention? In the graphical options? -
Hi,
I've had a strange bug ever since Issue 17 launched : when in base editing mode, the base items display with corrupted graphics in both the lower menus and the item info panel. Moreso, since issue 18, merely being in item editing mode causes CoH to crash and quit after 10 to 60 seconds, which makes base editing all but impossible.
I contacted the technical staff but all I got was the standard "we're working on it" answer... After two months of paying base rent for nothing, I'm hoping someone here may have a fix.
Some infos : I play on a Mac under Mac OS X.5.8, so I can't run the diagnostic program. Actually I play on two different computers, both macs, so it's not tied to my install. I even deleted CoH and re-installed it and the problem remained, so it's probably located server-side (I play on the EU Vigilance server).
Moreso, it happens with all my toons, and a friend of mine has the same issue in his own base (a villain one) and the only common factor we have is that we both play on Macs - we have different models, different accounts, different bases...
I'm joining a screenshot of the issue taken before it started crashing the program. Has anyone any clue? Or should I take it to a Red Name and see if they can help?
Thanks in advance,

Doh - silly me, not thinking of posting this on the Mac forum. Talk about seeing the tree and missing hte forest. :-) Thanks, I'll double-post there.

Great guide - very useful not only regarding the pros and cons of each tanker set, but also in checking what each TF brings us against. :-p
One detail I think you may have overlooked on the Electric Armor tanker is the sheer power that Power Sink brings. Coupled with grounded, it allows them to laugh in the face of Sappers, Croatoa witches and anything electric, from Clockwork to Freakshow.
I used my Elec/Elec tanker to run the Katie Hannon TF a couple times and between those powers and the endurance-draining abilities of my secondary, I was never at less than half a blue bar, even with Mary and all of the tenth spawn zapping me. I went so far as to take Rest out of my power trays - I NEVER need it anymore.
Elec also provides a very correct level of psionic resistance. It has no issues dealing with Rikti, Psi Clockwork, and Fortunatas. Finally, it grants you enhanced recharge and a self-heal. Frankly, in sheer lasting power, I'd consider it a contender for Stone, but that's my own opinion. -
What type of mods were you refering to?
I'm running Mac OS 10.5.6 on a Mac Pro 2,66GHz Quad-Core Xeon with 6Go of DDR3 RAM. As far as I know it's pretty much straight out of the box, barring the upgrades the Apple Store put in it before it was delivered. It's on a network with other macs but hardware-wise it's pretty standard.

Curses - foiled again.
I checked, my account is indeed an admin one. And I tried getting rid of the faulty install, its preferences and even the DMG it came from then retried an install from another DMG I got from the link you gave me, but still no cigar. I even tried rebuilding my permissions... I must admit all this has us stumped here.
Just in case it helps, here is what the console said after this latest install.

Well that's kinda scary because all this was done with a CoH Europe DMG that I got straight from the website. However, since I'm doing all this on a shared computer, it may be that the account I'm doing it on is not an admin-level one. I'll check, retry a full install on an admin login and get back to you.
Thanks for the quick reply (especially since the European support team never got back to me...),

Hey there - sorry it took me so long to reply... Xmas madness and all.
Here are the last few lines of the Console right after the crash occurs :

Hello,
I'm running into a somewhat different issue while trying to install the Mac Client. I'm on a Mac Pro running Mac 10.5.6, and when I download the client from the internet, it launches the updater normally. However once running, it suddenly crashes while saying that Cider is having an issue with this application. After that, the icon of CoH in my Apps folder sports a "wrong way" grayed sign on top of it and when I try to launch it, it says that this version of the application can't run on my version of OS X. I opened a ticket but haven't heard back from support in several days. Any idea what the issue could be?
Thanks,
Q.
