So that's two confirmed now? Me as a human rogue, Rad as a drow monk? And Saturdays, is that okay for everyone to meet?
Right now I'm just slowly meandering my way through the Korthos Island quests. I figure everybody does those (or skips the island and goes right to Stormreach) and we'll meet by the docks where you get dropped off and go from there. Of course, with 2-10 characters per server, no problem with doing other things in the mean time, but I'm talking about the Rookery. team here.
Oh, and I is now off to see 9. Glee! -
Quote:That's good to know then. I never knew that you could get a levelling sigil any way other than the cash store. I know you can get turbine points the first time you complete certain missions in game. I've got 150 right now because I was technically in the beta, though I only tried it out one night because of time issues.A lot of questions about this in chat. Technically not true. After reaching level 4 you need a levelling sigil to move higher. This sigil drops from quests and dungeons (might require some grind to get it), or it can be bought in the Store for TP (heheheheh). Technically, if you're willing to grind for it you can get level 20 while spending $0.00.

You can have up to 6 people in a party.
It's totally free if you want, Fed. You can download it from the website and set up a free account. However, there are several tiers of membership you can be in.
If you play for free, it's like a big extended demo. You're limited to level 4, and higher level areas (and some lower level ones) are locked out to you. You can unlock higher levels or buy adventure packs to unlock areas by buying them in their cash store. You're also limited to 2 characters per server, and some classes and races are not available.
Former subscribers and people who have bought from the cash store are premium subscribers. They have 4 character slots per server, access to some areas that are locked to free players, but are still limited to level 4 and can use the cash store to unlock areas and classes/races.
VIP subscribers are those who pay the $15 monthly fee. They get full access to all areas, can reach level 20 without paying anything extra and have acess to all races/classes and 10 character slots per server. They also have account bank access (drop something in the bank for one character, go to another character and pull it out of the bank, instead of mailing between characters.)
The cash store also allows you to buy some low level gear, potions, experience boosters and cosmetic items. What you would expect to find in a cash store for a game.
So you can play for free, or pick up one of the old boxed sets, which you can probably find in stores for $10-20 and comes with a free month of VIP access (basically, the usual free trial month). -
I turn around to do some work and this place turns into an explosion of cuddles and activity. s'great.

And yup Tiger, still room. Still not sure who all is going to be there and who's playing what yet though. -
*acks and gets flattened by the sackboy*
oooh.. Scratch a little more to the left, would you? -
Out of those days, Saturday would be best for me. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday are static teams on other days during the evenings. Any time would be good for me really, though we should expect to budget between 2-4 hours to get in some decent play time.

*gives Detra birthday skooshy hugs and an oddly shaped cake*
There's a whip baked inside hon. *wink* -
All would be welcome. The only role we have down for the group so far is me as the trap finder. The only thing about the Monk class Rad is that you'll have to buy access to it, either from the store or by being a subscriber. Monks and Favored Souls, as well as Warforged and Drow you have to buy access to.
Though I know at least the Drow you can get access in game by earning a certain amount of rep with the factions. I'm not sure if they extended that to the other restricted race/classes. It used to be you could be anything but a Drow from the start, which I always thought was kind of dumb. But at least I can still play the drow characters I unlocked on the other server.
Definetly go for the Hi Res download Rook. Bloom might be the cause too, though obviously I can't see your screen from here. I just installed the Hi Res version and let it pick my settings, and it's fine for me. -
*slides up to the counter and gets a big bowl, mixing a little of each cereal together, then adding the milk*
Hiya Rooky, and everyone to follow. ehhh.. I can't say yesterday was all that good really.I was Kitty McCrankypants most of the time an unaccountably tired. I bounced from thing to thing and kept getting irritated and/or bored by everything I did, and horribly tired too. So I wound up just going to bed at 10. I feel like such an old cat. Hopefully today will be better.
edit: *dances around cheerfully* Today got better. 9 is opening in the theater down the road from me today, so I know where I'm going to be this afternoon.

Oh, sorry about that Rad.
*sprays Rad with the seltzer bottle too* -
*squirts at Fedor, tracking him as he runs, giving Rooky a full on splashing*
Woops... -
You're being the unruly one!
*clobbers Fedor with a cocktail olive and rolls out, going for the seltzer bottle* -
ACK! This is no way for my bouncer to act Fed! You're supposed to be beating up unruly drunks, not the bartender!
-
Kittehs are always important in an adventuring group. *nodnod*
I've got the rogue covered. I'm redoing my favorite character from Argonessen, who is a Ranger 2/Rogue X. Scout and Trapsmith concept. A wanderer who has an almost obsession with getting into places that other people would rather she not get into.
Going with a couple levels of ranger gives me free dual wielding and some next extra feats and abilities, including the ability to use healing wands. -
Yeah, I really liked the Eberron setting. I just wish the Warforged characters in DDO didn't look like metal gorillas... Or that they included Shifters as a race.
And yes Rad, I've been trying to get together Rookery. people to play. Or at least get all those interested in one server so we can play together. BP rolled on Cannith, so that's where we should go. I made up a character there too, right before they shut the place down for maintenance. -
So, digging into their support database, I see there are actually three subscriber modes. Free, Premium and VIP (monthly sub). You qualify for Premium by being a former subscriber or buying stuff from the DDO store, and it gives you a few extra perks over a free player, including 2 extra character slots per server and some adventure packs, though I'm not sure which. A nice touch.
-
Oh.. and I had 4 character slots on Cannith, and was marked as a Premium subscriber... though I don't pay. I guess there's three levels of membership? It confuses me, frankly.
ACK!
*falls behind the bar after being sneak attacked by a sack person. Sounds of a scuffle can be heard*
Where's my bouncer?!? -
-
I only plan to play the game casually myself, BP. I've got Aion and Fallen Earth to add to my already large stable of games as it is. But there has been some Rookery. interest in giving DDO a try, so I thought it would be nice if we all gathered onto one server. It makes teaming a lot easier if there are people there that you know already, and maybe even if there's interest we can set aside a few hours one night for a regular-ish team. The best way to experience the game, in my opinion, is with a regular group. Much like with a table top D&D game.
-
*hands out the donut and coffee*
Shall we gather on the Cannith server then? One is as good as the next, really. I'll remake my ranger/rogue character, a personal favorite of mine. -
Hey there Fedor and Rooky. Whattaya have?
It's 4 slots per server isn't it? That's what I have on Argonessen at least... Or maybe that's because I unlocked them the hard way before... Dunno. I'll poke into Cannith later on. And yeah, the first 4 levels there are plenty of dungeons you can do solo, but after that it becomes thin to non existent. A lot of the long quest chains are really good and interesting though, more so than the one off solo dungeons. Obviously they take longer to do, but you can split them up, doing a few quests each night. -
*pours a couple of fingers of scotch and mixes a gin and tonic and slings them on their way*
There ya go. And yes Miss Detra, it surely is a friendly place. Almost Cheerful. Hmm, that could be a good name for it...
I haven't played all that much since coming back, BP. Way to many other games fighting for my attention this month. What server did you pick? -
BP! What's your poison, buddy? How's DDO treating ya?
-
*sneaks in while the lights are off and redecorates the place to look like a friendly neighborhood bar, then puts on an apron and stand behind it, polishing some glasses with a bar rag*
Welcome one and all. Come in, have a seat. Whattaya have? -
No forcing doors or locks. No bandages, but there are potions you buy. There is no crafting in the game at all, you buy or find everything. It's a dungeon crawl. You crawl through dungeons. That's it, that's all, no more or less than that.
