  1. Jake's deviced seemed to be much more than it appeared. Earlier, Jake had ported in his full squad of robots, and none of his devices seemed to experience any problems whatsoever. Indeed, it seemed they were even reusable. But then, why was Jake's means of transport immune to the Rikti's barrier?

Jake's many hours of working with Naylor and Arachnos's top portal specialists gave birth to an ingenios system of transport that combined both portals and teleportation. The portal aspect would allow for travel to great distances, and the teleportation aspect would allow it to bypass many of the difficulties normally found in portal jumping. Even the mighty barrier of the Rikti Homeworld could not block the device's goal of teleporting in Arachnos Drones, supplies, men, and weapons as it brought in the necessary materials to build an Arachnos Outpost.
  2. Having not received an answer from Igor, Jake had to force himself to calm down, a calm, albeit, irritated, crossing over his face once more.

"Sounds about right." He replied to Vern's proposed course of action. "No objections here."
  3. Jake had sat in silent comtemplation from the moment he got off of the ship until the current situation, in which he finally announced that he needed to go to the little villain's room. As nonchalantly as he could, he excused himself from the rest of the group to step outside.

"Excellent." He whispered as he glanced back into the tunnel where the rest of the group was. He walked a good distance away and, after again making sure he was not being watch, complete with a full scan from his goggles, dropped a simple disk like device onto the ground. At a glance, it seemed like it was nothing, but closer inspection would reveal a clever use of technomancy, which allowed for inter-dimmensional travel to be made quite easy. Pulling out a head set and saying a series of numbers, Jake calmly walked away, leaving the device to its own affairs.

And, after a few minutes of waiting, a cloaked Arachnos Drone suddenly materialized.

    Then another.

    And another.

    And yet another.

    Jake glanced back and smirked.

"Hail Arachnos." He muttered, turning back forward with a strong urge to laugh.

    Nah, too stereotypical.
  4. ((I believe he was speaking to Devioius. >.> But can I ask how a guy with a sword could be so potent?))
  5. ((Only four posts relevant to the story made since my computer crashed? >.> *Pulls out the defibrilator(sp?)* Clear!))
  6. Jake entered through the portal of light with a red face. Seeming to be fuming, he quickly glanced around the room until his eyes rested upon Igor, to which he pointed accusingly. "Dare I ask what the Hell you did to my soldiers? And don't try to tell me you didn't do anything, I don't see any other undead surgeons anywhere else here in this freakshow."

((It's my way of saying hello, Diov. ))
  7. "Not exactly first class..." Jake muttered as he looked around the room, temporarily teleporting his bots away in order to allow himself some semblence of personal space.

    [ QUOTE ]
The first he called the Forgotten Sanctuary - an archeological dig site abandoned by researchers soon after the start of the Human War in favor of more immediate concerns. It sat in a range of very rough mountains, heavily isolated, and there certainly wouldn't be any Rikti around. In addition, some of the equipment left behind when research had halted might be of use to the expedition.

The second had been a coastal city before the war, Nemesis' Freedom Phalanx Automatons having done roughly the same thing to the place that the first Rikti attack had done to Baumton. It had been evacuated some time ago, and sat close to the capital than the excavation site. However, chances of finding anything helpful there also stood much lower. In addition, the plain-like characteristics of the surrounding lands made discovery upon landing a great deal more likely

Jake pondered over the two choices, despite his mind already jumping to the former chioce. As he weighed the pros and cons of the two sites in his mind, Acid stated,

    [ QUOTE ]
"Not entirely sure which of those is better." Acid told Cher'tak in particular, but his tone included everyone on board in the discussion, "My vote goes for that sanctuary thing, but I've never been that good with strategic analysis. Anyone got any thoughts on this?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

"I think I agree with you, Acid..." Jake said, stroking his chin as he thought, his eyes still glued to the screen. "Detection should be avoided, and that particular site provides us with the most discretion, not to mention the amount of equipment that we could salvage."

I could salvage, rather... Jake corrected himself in his mind, his face giving no clue as to his thoughts.

Not to mention, the machinery could give them much needed insight into some Rikti technology. That coupled with the fact that they could easily set-up there makes it more ideal than the abandoned city.
  8. "I don't think such force will be necessary." Jake said in response to Phillis's suggestion. "Something that is phase shifted is above and beyond being simply stealthed. It is, quite literally, partially shifted out of reality, a trait that oftentimes makes it Hell to detect." Jake checked his watch absentmindedly as he stated this. "Frankly, I think you're just wanting to be violent. I'm afraid I'm with the hero on this one, casualties should be avoided if possible, if for nothing else than for the sake of remaining conspicuous."
  9. "I'll be coming with." Jake said as he approached the appropriate space, bringing his bots with him. "Anything to get to Rikti Terra A-sap."
  10. [ QUOTE ]
"Blargh." Said half a dozen Arachnos corpses as Igor passed by.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    [ QUOTE ]
He looked back at the group of soldiers he had, counting three Crab Spiders, five Bane Spiders and roughly ten Wolf Spiders.

    [/ QUOTE ]

((Just making sure, but is that to imply that I still have 2/3 of my Arachnos forces left?))
  11. "A little skirmish, nothing more." Jake replied to Ineffable as he overheard his inquiry, brushing a bit of imaginary dust off of his trenchcoat.
  12. "Those look like they'd suit the occasion perfectly, Toy." Jake said, looking upon the hologram with a bit of intrigue. "If you don't mind my asking, what exactly is the molecule-wide metal made of?" Jake seemed to be asking out of pure curiosity, and if one could detect his motives right now, they'd notice that it was for nothing but the sake of knowledge.
  13. Jake had opened his mouth to respond to Phillis's list of concerns but was cut off shortly before being able to get his point across.

    [ QUOTE ]
"Oh, but you misunderstand." M replied to Dr. Phillis' list of troubles, "I don't think that any...um, nevermind...well, Vern and I certainly weren't suggesting a headlong frontal charge. We share your concerns in a number of points, which is precisely the reson we should move quickly - to gather intelligence."

"Indeed." the Krayten added, "Since we don't know how time might play into all this, gathering as much information as we can in as little time as possible is the most sensible first step. And where is the best spot to do that? Before place, of course."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Alright then..." He muttered. Clearing his throat, Jake rose his voice to speaking level. "That about sums up my response." He simply stated.
    [ QUOTE ]
"I suppose I could always take a look from orbit first." the spindly mechanoid tacked on with a shrug, "But I doubt there would be much difference between that and a few kilometers' distance..."

    [/ QUOTE ]

"Any intelligence before-hand would be a good thing, in my humble opinion." He said, looking at the spindly mechanoid. "While we may not be going in guns a-blazing, there's still a certain degree of risk going into a potentially hostile territory unarmed." He tapped his temple as he said this last word, emphasizing that he was implying intelligence as a weapon.
  14. Wow... incredible work.

Long time viewer of the art forums, however, too poor/untalented to warrant making a post.

In any case, I think I should take advantage of such an offer. ^_^ Mind you the descision's entirely yours. I wouldn't blame you for completely ignoring my character, especially considering the vast amount of requests you've already received. >.>

Anyway, here's Jake, my main RP character. ^_^

If you want, his backstory is here. (Should be the last post on the page.)

    Thank you in advance. ^_^

Edit: Also, personality, right. He's your typical teen. Cocky, 'All-Knowing', and sure of himself, but, he's also a brilliant strategist and robotic designer. Again, thanks.
  15. "This isn't my area of expertise," Jake stated, leaning forward in his chair and getting a rather serious look on his face, "but I think I'm with the 'Not enough info' crowd."

He leaned back now, nearly falling out of his chair due to forgetting that the back of said chair was now in front of him. He quickly caught his balance again, though, coughing into his hand and blushing slightly.

"Ahem, anyway..." He said, leaning back as far as he could. "I don't think conclusions are even necessary right now. In fact, I think that's just the thing we're going to go find out."

Jake chuckled and looked to the good doctor. "So, like my colleague just so bluntly inquired, where's our ride?"
  16. "And that's how you [censored]-ing do it!" Dusan shouted as they narrowly avoided death, taking the time to pump his arm into the air for a short moment of victory. "Nicely done!"
  17. "... Wow..." Was all Jake could say as he gazed upon the awesome sight of a Rikti Warship floating gracefully overhead. "I've gotta remember to give that guy a pat on the back..." He muttered.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
Jake would find very quickly that Arachnos lacked a good bit of information about Vern and M - namely, all of it. According to Recluse's records, the two might as well not have existed.

"Be careful what you pry into." the spindly mechanoid whispered as it stepped next to the youth for a moment, "If you already consider some here freaks, your mind may well warp if you delve too far."

    [/ QUOTE ]

((>.> Does M have psychic abilities?))

Jake regarded M a bit coldly, no doubt with the same cockiness all teenagers have. "I'll take my chances. Believe it or not, I think my mind may be rather flexible by now."

    [ QUOTE ]
"It appears," the inventor intoned, "that the people are being infected at the very least by that first individual and being placed into a form of mind control, as mentioned earlier, before being put through a cybernetic enhancement process. This process seems to be little more than a 'Chip', a device that here changes the normally automated controls of the body, such as breathing and heart rate, and converts it to other commands, such as adrenal output, acuity, and muscular development. Carefully regulated, such an individual could easily become exceptional at most feats, but it would burn out most living bodies... I've heard of similar experiments before, but mostly conducted on corpses and massively supplemented by cybernetic augmentation, and no, I don't mean Freaks or Vahz proteans. If this is an enhanced version of such research, I must say I'm growing quite distressed."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jake nodded in his direction and announced, "That about sums up what I've gathered from it. Anything else before we continue?"
  19. [ QUOTE ]
    Bravissimo.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Devious just about summed it up. ^_^
  20. Jake, after thuroughly scanning and reading over everyone's files, (A few of which that came up curiously empty.) took Essex up on her offer and signaled her over to him, taking a single can of Root Beer. He smiled kindly to the girl and gave a soft 'Thanks.' before turning back to the matter at hand.

Well... He thought, looking at a few key individuals. There are a few more freaks here than I'm used to dealing with...

He shrugged and chuckled. Ah well, should prove interesting.
  21. [ QUOTE ]
"Kids these days," Solid said as he sighed theatrically. "You try and teach them algebra and then they up and build a horde of robots to conquer the world. What's gone wrong with the world?"

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jake simply smirked and shrugged as he continued to watch the conglomeration of minds introduce themselves and their fields.
  22. [ QUOTE ]
"And since Arachnos is kind of holed up in its little island and Nemesis is too busy concocting grand schemes, the Rikti seem to be the greatest threat to our security ever since they invaded in the first place."

    [/ QUOTE ]

Jake chuckled slightly at this, but gave no other indication that he had overheard their conversation.
  23. ((Apologies for inconsistencies in my last post. I was being rushed at the time. :3))

"I'm Jake." He announced as he flipped a chair around and sat in it, the back of it facing forward. "I specialize in robotic design, and, if I hadn't gone rogue, I'd be a junior in high-school."
