Quote:First off, I think Melissandre has been getting more powerful as the dragons get bigger and magic is returning to the world more strongly. She ain't no Thoros of Myr, so I think she should be able to do a proper resurrection. Also does anyone question whether or not John Snow being brought back to life (if he has in fact died) by Melisandra is a good thing? I mean it hasn't seemed to have had a real positive effect on the others two who've been brought back from the dead.
Secondly, at least in Kat's case she was dead for a while. If M gets to Jon soon enough, I think we can expect much better results.
Third, Jon's emerging Warg powers probably help with returning from the dead. -
Quote:I can't disagree, but I think you're asking for a lot of moral sophistication in a child raised as a noble in a medieval society. Add to that the fact that he's just discovering his powers, and he's used to using them on animals...I'm not sure how he treats Hoder can be described as anything short of despicable, Jaime should have pushed with a blade first before dumping the body out the window.
He's made mistakes certainly, but I'd cut him some slack. -
Quote:Victarion is destined for greatness in the same way Quentyn Martell was...Subject: Victarion
Where do you see him in the grand scheme of things? Is he an important player, destined for some greatness? Will he eventually claim the Seastone Chair? Is he a big ole red herring soon to die a horrible death? Is he actually going to sweep Dany off her feet?
Poor Q... poor crispy, crispy Q. -

Holy crap, I need to reread these books... that makes perfect sense! Especially given her (probable) abduction of Jaime in the last book.
-
Hey, how is Bran a scumbag? Just because he can See Everything from his underground command center? That's kinda harsh... and we don't know if Rickon is an idiot yet.

Quote:This is exactly my thinking on the matter.I think Melissandre will give him the "Breath Of Fire" a la Beric Dondarrion. And yes, it seems like Jon is being set up to fulfil the Prince Who Was Promised prophecy. What cemented it for me was Jon's dream of defending the Wall with a burning sword.
Also, by dying, Jon has actually fulfilled his duties to the Nights Watch. "Night gathers, and now my watch begins. It shall not end until my death." -

People who seriously follow that prophecy have made a good case for him. I just know it isn't Stannis.
Another purpose Jon's "death" serves is to free him from his Vows to the Night's Watch. Now he can marry Dany! -
Done and done.
The new thread will include spoilers up to the latest book. I already got the ball rolling. -
So, no one seriously thinks Jon is dead, do they?
-
So, here's our Mega Book Spoiler thread.
SERIOUS, MAJOR SPOILERS!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! -
Official overview has dropped!
I think I'm the only person who like First Ward (solo-style, at least), so I'm excited that they're continuing to build on Praetoria. I hope that one day you can go from 1 to 50 there, although I'm pretty sure very few people will do that unless they start adding some Praetorian TFs. (iTrials don't count!)
The Mecha costumes sound sweet, but I wish we had some screenies! Hell, I'd settle for concept art. -
Quote:Maybe we should make a book spoilers thread so we can talk theories?I think in discussing some theories it can give facts about future events (even some about who lives and who dies which in the GRRM world can be spoilery) that some people may not want to know now. Personally I'll try to refrain from getting too far ahead of the series. Although it's hard, because I love talking ASOIAF.
-
Is it a spoiler if it's never been confirmed as fact in the books?

The main reason R+L = J is so George can end the story with Jon and Dany getting married and Jon taking the Iron Throne. The Targaryens get to continue their freaky deaky ways (Dany would be Jon's aunt), and Jon actually has a claim to the North, so everyone is happy!

There's no way they can do a season without Dinklage on screen, so obviously they will combine Feast/Dance somehow.

Quote:Let's see who the Space Kook really is!That's the space kook villain from Scooby Doo.. You know, the one that tries to scare everyone away from the abandoned airfield so he can buy it dirt cheap then sell it back to the government at a hefty price...

48 actually feels like enough for now, but I wouldn't turn down more.
