  2. The Issue 22 announcement has a very welcome section. There will be new telepads which allow for 6 destinations instead of 2. This is something that has been desired for years. I am happily anticipating reclaiming large swaths of base floorspace that doesn't need to be taken up with telepads now.

This reminds me of my very first blaster, which was also my very first character, back in the old days. How old? Well, we hadn't even started talking about the release of Issue 1 when this happened.

Being an energy/energy blaster with hover (but not a high enough level to take fly yet), the joys of hover-blasting had gotten me through the trials of Perez Park and had just arrived in Steel Canyon. Moving into the streets, I spotted a new group of anti-social thugs calling themselves the Outcasts. Confidently, I rose I into the air, safely out of reach, and opened up with my energy blasts, smiling as they were knocked to the ground.

My smile rapidly turned to shock as two of the Outcasts had the unmitigated gall to FLY up to me and proceed to disregard my 'range as defense' strategy by engaging in airborne hand-to-hand combat!

Only the fact that I had a couple purple inspirations handy saved my poor blaster from a trip to the hospital, but his sense of security died that day.

The Behemoths they spawn are not affected.
Did You Know: Originally, the Behemoth Portals didn't give any reward at all when you destroyed them. However, the Behemoths that they spawned did. The Behemoths were normal bosses which gave full experience when defeated and the portal would cheerfully continue to spawn more until it was destroyed. This led to the 'demonic invasion farms' where someone would get one of the missions containing the portals, put together a team, trigger the portal and spend the next however many hours desired fighting off a never-ending stream of XP, er, behemoths.
  5. O'ahu here, living in Mililani Mauka. I'm almost always on Virtue these days, despite having alts languishing on most of the other servers.
  6. I remember the first time that our taskforce stepped out of a mission and were set upon by Babbage. We'd heard rumors that there was a giant clockwork somewhere in the task force, but no details, and we expected to run into him inside a mission somewhere.

He towered over us (I swear he's shorter now) and we desperately fought back. None of us were at full, as we'd not rested before leaving the mission. The sense of triumph as we stood over his beaten shell trumped even the feeling of success from finishing the TF.
  7. Ah, the memories...

Behemoth portal missions. I only ever went on one, but the experience of myself and my teammates fighting off a never-ending stream of howling demons for two hours straight will never be forgotten. (Sure, I know you *could* still do this today, but now that they don't give experience, no one wants to)

When outdoor instance missions were first introduced.

Logging in that first day and finding half a dozen instances of Atlas Park, with hundreds of heroes running around. The local crime in Atlas has never been so scarce as that first day.

Being able to solo the Kracken in Perez Park with my Emp/Psi defender, before they put in the giant monster patch.

Racing around Perez with said defender, and finding lots of groups of heroes to randomly heal and buff. Doing an ambulance run, we called it. Perez is so quiet these days...
