Yeah, and you may very well be right. But I wanted to explore my options so I could at least attempt to fix any issue there may have been on my end. Thanks for your assistance. I guess I'll have to quit the game again, it isn't really playable with the way it's crashing right now.

I don't know if the crashes occur in Safe Mode, I haven't tried it. I don't use a program to check my video card temps either. I play on a laptop with a really kickass fan and I also keep it on top of a laptop fan that runs constantly when the laptop is on. I guess it could be an issue but I don't think so. It only crashes when playing CoH. I played WoW for like, 6 hours straight yesterday on max graphics and had zero issues. I can play CoH for 10 minutes on "recommended" graphics and the card will crash.

My full-system virus scan just finished. It found 3 threats, they were "FastClick" "DoubleClicK" and "Yield-Something". Nothing sounding like it would screw with my video card. Bleh.

Akamai was a program I downloaded a couple days ago. I was required to download it so I could download my boyfriends AutoCAD software. I've been having issues with the video card crashing since before I downloaded Akamai, but I uninstalled it anyway because I have no use for it. The NVIDIA Update Service thing I just downloaded today when I got the updated driver. I was given the option to download it so it could let me know in the future if my driver needed updating. So that can't be the cause either. Trend Micro is my anti-virus. I opened the software but under "Last scan" it's just saying "Scan needed". So I don't know when I last scanned, but I apparently need to do it again. :P I'll get that done sometime tonight. Thanks a bunch for your help.

We may have been posting at the same time. If you read some of my posts, I fixed HiJackThis and posted a log, and posted more detailed information about what was going on with CoHHelper. And yes, I did try to run that as administrator (I was given the option when I right clicked). I had the same issue.

Figured I'd give you more information on what's going on with CoHHelper as well.

When I open it, I get this:



I click run and the program opens. I click "Forum Output" and it starts loading system info. 3-5 seconds in, I get this:



If I click "Quit", the program closes. If I click "Continue" it keeps loading system info but never finishes. Just loads forever. I clicked "Details" on the error message and it gave me this information:

I tried to run DXDiag but I don't know if I'm stupid or what, it didn't seem to be actually doing anything. I've never used it before, so I'm probably just ignorant. I ran the Game Advisor earlier, I'll post as much of that as I can.

I just crashed again. NVIDIA gave me this error window.

"The Nvidia OpenGL driver lost connection with the display driver due to Windows Time-Out limit and is unable to continue.

I clicked yes and if you copy the link you can see what it says. One of the suggestions it gives is to... "Increase the timeout to allow more time to complete the really tough rendering parts. Microsoft provides the information on how to modify the Windows Registry to achieve this." Think that would be a good idea? Tampering with the registry always makes me nervous.

I would have never thought in my life to install a driver that way as I've never done it in the past and they've always worked upon installation without an issue. I'll try driver sweeper and see what happens. I downloaded COH helper but it wouldn't run, kept popping up an error. I downloaded HiJack This and it also gave me an error about HOSTS file access. Hyperstrike's Guide mentioned that if that happens, to right click and try running as administrator. When I right click on the program, I'm not given an option to run as administrator. If I continue past the error about the HOSTS access file, then the text file that opens at the end is empty.

I read a sticky saying that you all were aware of a video issue and were trying to fix it, so I'm just here to formally report my problem, I suppose. My laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M graphics card. It does not crash when I surf the net, play World of Warcraft, Warcraft III, Starcraft 2, etcetera - only when playing City of Heroes. I crash randomly; in the world, in missions, wherever. I have crashed in the same mission five times now and it's extremely frustrating. I want to finish it! (The name of the mission, if it matters, is "Search the Munitions Depot" and it's in First Ward.) When the video card crashes it leaves CoH "Not responding" and I have to C+A+D the game and reopen. I turned my graphics down from Ultra to Recommended and that hasn't helped the issue. If anything, it seems to be crashing more often now. I went to NVIDIA's website and downloaded the latest driver, released only last month. I logged back into the game after downloading the driver and it crashed again within 10 minutes. I've downloaded all Windows Updates also. I'm not sure what else to do, but this is getting pretty ridiculous. It's making me not want to play the game at all anymore. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
