(OOC: Sorry so late in response, holiday weekend and I was way too busy doing nothing.)
Wendy accepted Narshawns hand, and smiled. "I take your offer and am will be glad to call you friend." Wendy then proceeded to tell her story very similar to what she had told Alex before, but a little more freely because Narshawn would have a better chance of relating to her.
"So you see I am here as an observer and researcher. Um, I hope you will not take this offensively, but when I first saw you I assumed that you were an ice entity bound to a master in this realm. You see magic is very common place in my dimension, and one form that people use is summoning." Wendy looks sheepishly downward at the bar as she speaks. She truely doesn't want to offend Narshawn, but is enjoying sharing part of herself with the woman. "So I thought that you were summoned by the owner of the establishment. It was of course a mistake but it is all I am used to. Well, was, used to. I do hope you will forgive my faux pas.
((OOC: A little insight that I will hopefully be able to make clear over time is tht Wendy is evil. She is a character that I am developing in anticipation that we will be allowed to transfer the them over to CoV if we wish. The devistation of Earth in her dimension was her fault. She started a war to wipe out all the people in order to remake it in her image. Kind of a god complex. Anyways she failed to wip them all out, was caught and imprisoned on Earth. So when Portal Corp showed she seized the opportunity to come to a new Earth. What she didn't expect was for her powers to not work the same as they did in her dimension. Her first action was an attempt to seize control of Portal Corp, but she failed and badly hurt herself. That is why she is not as powerful. She has to relearn her powers. Ok, that is about it. Please don't use OOC info when interacting with the character. I just feel like I'm failing with this character and wanted to clarify. Thanks.))
EditOOC: Ok, um I should read all the threads and realize the bar closed. My bad.)
Shortly Wendy left, and then came back the next day to hopefully have a pleasant conversation with Narshawn. She entered through the bar this time. She has on billowy calf length dark beige pants and a white shirt with a neckline that started at her shoulders, with split sleeves and a tied waste. She wore her typical stilleto heels this time with straps that wound up her leg and tied off at the base of the pants. Her long hair was tied up with a scarf and sticks to sit on the back of her skull. Her sauntered up to the bar and took a seat, waving at Narshawn to say hello.
(OOC: I can fix anything) -
((OOC: I was thinking the same thing Sibling.))
"No need to call me miss, my name is Wendy." The conversation was confusing. The creature had none of the mannerisms of someone summoned. Once again her assumptions were going to give her a headache. "The SoCo should be chilled in a shot glass. Yes, that would be great." She was very tired of not knowing things. She shuddered as she remembered her first mistake upon arrival. Ah, the differences an atom makes millions of years ago. "Excuse me I hope I'm not prying, but may I inquire of your origin?" She smiled pleasantly. -
Alex stopped and looked at Martin. "Nah it wasn't the service it was the company." He stook a step outside and paused. Turning back to Martin he dug into his pocket pulling out some bills, easily double the drinks. "This should cover the bill, thanks." Then he proceeded out the door.
((OOC: Alex would have talked, but probably not with Martin. He is just way to different for Alex to feel comfortable confiding in.))
Wendy actually noticed the bartender as she spoke. An Ice entity? Who summoned it? "One cosmo, that be all. Actually since that was last call could you follow that with a shot of chilled SoCo?"
((OOC: I hope that assumption by Wendy works for ya, the way you describe Narshawn it seemed apropriate.)) -
Alex just stared at her. He was angry, and he was confused, and he was nervous, and he wasn't really hungry any more. He didn't like Aliens at all, and he didn't like aliens from an alternate dimension even more. He did like Wendy though, she was like a sister. Granted one hot sister, but that was besides the point. He needed time to think, he needed time to yell. His only friend since getting here and she turns out to be an alien from an alternate dimension no less. "I'm not hungry any more. I'll see ya around, Wendy." He rose from his chair, letting his napkin fall from his lap. He gave Wendy one more look before turning and slowly making his way to the door.
Wendy wanted to stop him, she wanted to force him to talk to her, and she really hated it when people walked out on her, but she knew he needed time to work this through. She would find him tommorrow and see if he wanted to talk then, if not then she would try the next day and if not then the next. Right now though she needed a drink. She stood, found a waitress and signalled that she would be in the bar. As she made her way in she heard the bartender make last call. She grabbed a stool and tried to get the bartenders attention. -
Setting her drink down on the table. Wendy watched the Imp being led to his table. She found it a bit odd and disconcerting to see such a creature in the restaurant, but decided she wasn't one to decide who they should and should not serve. After watching it take its seat she looked away quickly as it glared and bared its teeth at her. Turning her attention back to Alex she requested, "Tell me more about how you gained your powers Alex."
Alex glanced back at Wendy realizing he was being spoken to. He had been watching Gypsy wander around the room. "Ah my powers, well that story is a bit longer and you've told me nothing about you except that you are stronger than me. Fair is fair, spill it woman." he glanced around again and saw Gypsy talking to the Imp. "Humpf, I guess I pissed her off too."
"He might just be a regular or perhaps a VIP you never know." Wendy watched Alex's face. He seemed very interested in the woman, or maybe her ability to bring him drink. She couldn't tell with him. "So you were saying about your powers." she tried again to get him to tell her.
Alex turned back to Wendy again, "Yeah my powers... no, you were gonna tell me about yours. Or something about you. How did you end up in Paragon? Where ya from?" He picked up his beer to take a sip and realising it was empty put it back down again.
"Alright, my turn." Wendy finally conceeded. "I came here about the same time you did, about a week ago, to fight evil and all that good stuff. Mainly though I came to see what the Rikti have done to Paragon first hand. I mean you see the pictures and stuff, but up close it looks extremely different. There is also a creature I believe called Hamidon I want to get a look at, but they won't let you go near until you reach a certain Security level. That's why I'm here. Well that and Portal Corp. They helped a lot." Wendy finished taking a sip of her cosmo and waited patiently for the obvious questions from Alex.
"Yeah, them aliens were rough on a lot of places, but they sure tore this town up. Never heard of the Hameton thing you mentioned. Sounds interesting though, must be one tough creature." He leaned back and gave her a level look. "Now I personally don't like Portal Corp, don't think we should be messing with other worlds and the like, but I'm glad they helped you out. Ya still haven't answered where ya came from." He was getting a sinking feeling in his stomach as he waited for her reply.
Wendy looked him over and seriously contemplated lieing to him. He might not take her answer very well. It didn't seem like he would take it very well at all. She needed him to trust her though. She needed him to rely on her. She would get it one way or another, now she just had to tell the truth. "I came from another planet in an alternate dimension." Wendy stated only loud enough for Alex to hear.
"What?!" Alex replied for almost everyone to hear.
"Shhhh." Wendy held up a finger to her lips. "I'm trusting you with this. I would appreciate it if you wouldn't pass it on to everyone here. Now hear me out." She waited until Alex showed that he was calm enough to listen to her. "Ok, Portal Corp. opened a portal to an alternate dimension Earth. Now I was born on a planet called Adelphe, and our star name is Aster, known as Centauri A in this dimension. You see there was a world war on Earth that left the planet pretty much uninhabitable so most of the people who survived went to Adelphe to join the rest of the human race that had already colonized there. Some of us stayed and worked the land trying to make it livable again." She took a moment to sip her Cosmo and gauge the reaction from Alex. He seemed to be taking it ok, but it was hard to tell. He had a really good poker face. "So when a portal openned in the middle of our domicile we took the opportunity to get to know the travelers. That is when I learned of the Rikti invasion. It is good to know of a potential enemy. And that Alex, is where I'm from." Deciding to stop while she was ahead, Wendy lifted her cosmo and sucked it down half way. She was pretty sure Alex would have a number of questions and she did not feel like answering any of them right now.
((OOC: Ok, I'm not posting again until Gypsy takes there order because I really want a break in conversation right now. It seems like 15 minutes or more. Um... Sibling I don't get to play the game right now, and I want to know more about the other conversations going on, so log and type.Luckly I got Isis Jones and Sweet having a great dialog.))
-
The frown on Wendy's face and the fact that his hello hadn't invoked the response he was looking for made him quickly change the smile on his face to a friendly one. "No, no appetizer, the bread will be fine. Thank you Gypsy."
Wendy was exstatic and quite pleased that Alex had managed to hold his tongue. She smiled up at Alex and once again asked him about his boxing. "So you were saying something about boxing in Maine."
Alex turned his attention back to Wendy. "Ah yeah, like I was saying... what was I saying? Oh well I've been boxing since I was fourteen. Now I was always a big kid, tall for my age, but it wasn't until I started boxing that I realized how strong I was. I would go in the gym and just pound away at the bags day after day. I remember my first match, I was fifteen and we had a match against another local gym." He absently reached for his beer and instead of grabbing it he hit the side and caused it to fall over. Wendy stretched her hand out and caught the glass with her telekinesis, gently bringing it back to its original position. "Oh, cra..." Alex trailed off as he watched the glass right itself. "Thank ya Wendy."
"No problem. You were saying about your first fight." she inquired.
Alex was once again brought back on track. "Yeah like I was saying we were in a little tourney against another local gym. Well the fella they matched me up against was a quick little guy. Really fast hands. Well I'm not that quick, I've just got a real heavy punch, that and I can take a lot of abuse. Well anyway that guy made quick work of me. I kept trying to get a good hit in and he just started tearin me up. See I wasn't defending the way I shoulda been. I figured get the big hit in early and just drop him, but I just couldn't land a good punch on the guy. I lost the match, but learned a good lesson. That's when I started working on building my body up. That fight is pretty much the reasn I'm indestructible." Alex finished, grab his beer and took a big swill.
Wendy watched him appreciatively as he wiped his mouth with the back of his hand. She then delicately picked up her cosmo with two fingers and raised it in a toast. "To lessons learned."
"Cheers!" Alex clinked his glass against Wendy's and finished it off in one more gulp. Wendy just sipped hers. -
Wendy leaned across the table and stared hard into Alex's eyes. "You've done well Alex, you've managed to piss off everyone we've talked to." She sucked in air between her teeth. "Now do me a favor and treat everyone with a pleasantry that befits a gentleman." She slowly sat back up straight and gave Alex a purposeful look. After a bit she asked, "Now tell me about boxing up in Maine. What was that like?" A smile spread acros her face and an eager look shown in her eyes as she propped her elbows on the table and leaned forward to rest her chin on her hands.
"Well there wasn't a man I..." he started.

"Good evening," a woman with the dark skin and pitch colored hair of her race, said. "I am Gypsy, lady has ordered the Kossmopo-litan and Sir has the beer. I bring bread and the dipping sauce. Tonight we have specials of Mussels in sauce, baked or Prime Rib. Should I come again for the order or stay?"
[/ QUOTE ]
"can't remember what I was going to say." Alex finished.
"Hello Gypsy." Wendy greeted Gypsy and gave her a quick look over. She liked the look on the lady, but would never bring herself try something like that on. "My name is Wendy and this is Alex." she gestured to Alex with a wave of her hand. "If you could give us say about 15 minutes before we order that would be great." Wendy was pretty sure that not giving Alex the chance to talk was the best plan here. Dread filled her though as he gave Gypsy a smirk and a real heavy, "Hello." -
"Why can't we be friends" by Fush Yu Mang, that should throw them off a little bit
"Comfort Eagle" by Cake, the beginning is just a fat rif that belongs at the start of a battle, and who doesn't want a theme song that references an onion head hat.
"Anthem" by Moby, would be alright.
"Breathe" by Telepopmusik, I like the message and the tune. Yeah it would be good for cruising around the city doing some hunting. You know making normal rounds. -
((OOC: You know if you weren't so good at involving players characters with NPC I wouldn't monopolise them so much. I mean so much has happened since Beth asked for Alex and Wendy's drink order I'm not sure where to begin.))

((For Alex and Wendy))
"That was great," Beth said as she seated the two beneath a spreading plant of some exotic origin. The leaves trailed out form a large main trunk, and left fragrant perfume with the motion of the vents' air.
"Martin can be so tight," she seated the lady first. "I am Beth, and your server will be Gypsy this evening. Can I start you with something to eat, or perhaps a glass of wine? We have bread from Three Miner's Bakery, and I can bring that with olive oil, balsamic vinegar from Modena, Italy or our house flavored oil/vinegar?"
[/ QUOTE ]
Alex leaned his chair back on its hind legs taking the compliment in completely. "Glad ya liked that Babe, why don't you run off and get me a pitcher of..." and with that Wendy gave his shin a sharp kick causing him to lose balance and grab the table to avoid falling on his back. "What the heck did ya do that for?" he stammered at Wendy.
Wendy had a very smug look on her face, but she had really wished he had fallen on his back. "Her name is Beth not Babe and you only need to tell her what you want not how to get it. Now try it again and order me a cosmo." She smiled at Alex showing her teeth with an unspoken promise in her eyes should he screw this up.
Alex knew he wasn't the brightest guy, but he also knew when he was pushing a woman's limits and not knowing Wendy that well he didn't want to see what she was like when she was mad. She had already thrown him through a wall just to see if he was indestructable like he claimed. He hadn't believed it was possible at first, but she claimed that her mind was stronger than his body, and he had found that out the hard way. "My apologies Beth I would like a Newcastle and Wendy here will have a cosmo. The bread sounds great, with the house flavors." He turned back to Wendy and gave her a questioning stare.
Wendy just nodded to him. -
Alex now had a look of confusion and anger on his face. He was trying really hard to figure out if he had just been insulted. "Why would I want to sit close to the door?" he asked, "What is that supposed to mean?" His glare jumped back and forth between Wendy and Martin.
"Stop being such a mook Alex. I would never let someone insult you openly. Now hush." She turned back to face Martin. "My name is Wendy Sands and this here is Alex Cross. We will dine together. I promise he is very pleasant when he doesn't talk." Slipping her hand around Alex's forearm she pinched him sharply. "Now let me have your arm and behave. You're my only date for the night and I want it to be an enjoyable one." she scolded. -
"Hehe, check out Mr. fancy pants Wendy." he said rather loudly while thumbing over to Martin. "I bet that guy is a huge priss."
"You are such a lout Alex. I think he is cute, very dapper. Very... James Bondish, very rarrr." Wendy replied, making a small slashing jesture with her right hand as she said it.
With a look of disgust on his face he declared, "There is something wrong with your taste in men. That man is old enough to be your grandpa." Finishing his statement he folded his arms in front of his chest.
Wendy calmly put her hand on Alex's folded arms and slowly explained, "Alex there is something seriously wrong with your manners, I suggest you go get some help." She looked over at Martin and smiled. "Please excuse my friend, if we could get a table for the two of us I would appreciate it." she inquired. -
The front double doors swung open and in walked a 9 foot man, well 9 foot with the mohawk. He wore extremely baggy brown pants, and a tight orange shirt over his heavily muscled chest. You wouldn't call him a huge man but he was pushing the limits. His orange hair stood tall and proud above his glaring eyes and hard face. A spikey beard wrapped from ear to ear and gave him quite a crazed look.
Hardly noticable next to him was a thin young lady about 5 and a half feet tall with long gold and red hair worn loosely to her waist. She had a small tiara on that kept her hair out of her face. She wore a long purple summer dress that fit tightly around her upper body, but gave her plenty of movement for her legs. It tied off at the waist with a simple blue ribbon. She has a very pretty face and bright blue eyes. Clutched in her hands was a small blue purse big enough to hold lip stick and a credit card. -
((OOC: I just figured getting a call from his SG would be a good way for Jack to take his leave for the evening especially since the shop is going to close soon. He'll be back soon, but maybe not the next day.))
Wow, he thought, when you're ready to go they can sure get ya out of here. Glad to see that, good for a superheroe's lifestyle. He picked up the bill, looked it over, figured out 25% and dropped it plus 5 bucks on the table. Pulling a pen from his jacket he turned the bill over and wrote on the back. 'Here is your tip Gerry, and five bucks because I'm borrowing some of the silverware. Thanks for the great service. Jack Rose' Grabbing a fork and knife he tossed them in his pocket with the pen. He almost wanted to finish his beer considering the night that lay ahead, but couldn't do it knowing he would need to be on top of his game. With a quick wave goodbye to Narshawn Jack snagged up the plate, walked up to the exit, turned on his cloaking device, opened the door, and superspeeded out. -
As Jack lounged in the chair, listening to the music and watching the staff and patrons, his cell rang. He quickly fumbled through the pockets of his pants searching for the source of the disturbance. "Damn it." he swore as he realized that it was in his jacket. This was taking to long and it was the ringer for his SG. Quickly he snatched the phone out of his inside pocket. "Jack Rose, on call." he blurted out as soon as he had it open, but before he had it to his ear. "Sorry sir, Jack Rose on call." he repeated slower and more articulate. "Having dinner sir... At a b..restaurant sir... Ladies by the Lake... yes there is a bar here also... no sir, milk sir... yes, from a cow... but I haven't even gotten my food yet... I understand sir on my way."
Jack tossed the phone on the table. Of all the times, I swear I'm gonna waste away to nothing. He figured he had a couple of minutes before he had to leave so he better settle his bill. Standing up and tossing on his jacket he heard Gertrude make last call. Turning to look at her, he raised an arm and after catching her eye motioned her to come over. -
((OCC: Sorry to take so long to respond, hope I didn't monopolise Gertrude.))
Jack smiled as Gertrude returned. He held up one finger in reply to her question as he picked up his beer and tasted it. "Wonderful choice Gertrude." He took another swallow before preceeding, "Now all I'm looking for is a steak, whatever the chef recommends, served medium rare."
He watched as a lady slid off her stool at the bar and wondered what she was drinking. A smile crept across his face as he remembered the last time he was that drunk. -
((OCC: The duster is the kinda hat he is wearing. Based of off charcter creation hat option. But yes we can say his coat was draped on the chair. He usually won't take the hat off unless asked because he doesn't have a secret identity and the duster hides his face when he is not out fighting crime. The other thing is that Jack is from Texas, he grew up on a cattle ranch. So I guess when you read it try to imagine a slight texas drawl to it.))
"A pleasure Gertrude." Jack tipped his hat to her as he replied. "I'm Jack, no sir neccessary. Now you wouldn't happen to have Shiner Bock, wouldya darlin? I've been missin it since I moved to Paragon." He smiled as he talked enjoying the view of the pretty lady. "If not, you've tempted me with the dark and full bodied, so surprise me doll. However no Guiness though as I'll be eatin." He picked up the coaster and playfully shook it at her as he finished the sentence. -
Changing out of his SG uniform at headquarters Jack felt that it had been another successful night cleaning up IP and Terra Volta. He grabbed his duster and thigh length leather coat before heading out the door. Sure winter was gone, but he just couldn't get used to this northern weather. He stepped outside and flipped open his cell. Flipping through his phonebook he found Linda's number and hit call. "Hey Summers its Jack... Doin good and yourself doll?... Well I was wondering if you could give me the lowdown on the watering hole you mentioned the other day... Oh it's a restaurant too, well maybe you can come have a bite with me darlin... No, I didn't think so... Yes I will, well thanks again Linda, and have a wonderful evening." After a quick disappointed sigh Jack hailed a taxi and headed off.
The car pulled up infront of the place and Jack hopped out after paying the cabby. He took the front of the building in and decided to take the smaller entrance. He hated waltzing through restaurants just to get to the bar. It always felt like he was intruding on a dozen personal conversations. He stepped into the bar and took everything in. Wow he thought this is really nice. He started for the bar, but decided to grab a table. Pulling back a chair he dropped down and stretched his legs out under the table. -
As Stu sits and writes in his notebook the chair in front of him disappears. He glances up quickly and watches as chairs, tables, plants, and windows fade out of existence. He stands up right before the chair he was sitting on blinks out. Suddenly the roof begins to break away and float up into the sky. Soon after the walls follow crumbling away and disappearing before they reach the ground. Stu can now see the surrounding buildings and the students and staff who were in the middle of classes. He watches as the horizon begins to slowly move towards him. His heart quickens as he realizes that something very ominous is coming. He wonders if this is a personal experience or something that is affecting everyone. Fear consumes him and his mind races as his eyes search for an exit or any thing that could help. His mind has completely locked up with the inability to comprehend the situation and the understanding that there is nothing he can do to stop it. The horizon is getting closer and closer and where there was sky is now nothing, a void that you can sense with your soul. The other people are now gone and Stu cant remember if they screamed when they left. The notebook is gone, but Stu doesnt care he is just trying to hold onto himself as his clothes and body begin fading. There is almost nothing, maybe a few feet of ground, enough air to keep him breathing for a couple more seconds. Time slows as Stu tries as hard as he can to grasp what is happening. He struggles to move so he can fight off his impending doom. Then there is nothing around him and he is so obviously aware of it before his thoughts too are gone.
(OOC: Notice I said that he wondered if this was happening to just him or if everyone was experiencing it. So if anyone wants to continue this thread I haven't ruined it. But I came I saw I sat and disappeared.) -
"Sir, you are at the Hero Academy. You just came in the front doors. Is this some kinda joke?" the receptionist replied cooly.
"No no no no. I'm just a little forgetful that's all." Stu said. He opened his notebook and glanced at the page. "Now why the pete would I want to register at the Hero Academy?" he pondered. "Got to remember to write down the whys." Lifting his head up and quickly closing the notebook, he looked directly at the receptionist and said, "I would like to register... um sign up... uh enroll?"
"Very well, fill out these forms and I'll call someone to help you." was her answer as she plopped a clipboard onto the counter and pointed to a group of lobby chairs.
(OOC: I have no idea who he should speak to. Could someone give me a hand here.)
Stu tried his best thank you smile on the receptionist, picked up the clipboard and headed over to the chairs. Finding one that suited him he sat. Looking over the paperwork he realized he was going to have a really difficult time with this. He started with the easiest thing, he set the pen to paper. "Name? This should be easy." he thought confidently as he wrote, 'Alexander William Cross aka Stu.' Proceeding to fill out the forms a moment of clarity came upon him, he could remember everything, from birth to the last letter he had put down on the page. After finishing up the forms he quickly opened his notebook and began to plan as much as possible conveniently leaving out the whys. -
Stu stood infront of the Hero Academy and couldn't remember for the life of him what he was doing there. He opened the book in his hand and went straight to the bookmarked page. "Lets see here. Wake up, did that." He read to himself. Take shower, brush teeth, get dressed, make sure clothes match by checking in mirror, so far so good. Walk two blocks south and have breakfast, don't remember that, but I got it checked off so I'm pretty sure it happened. Get on train to Galaxy City and go to Hero Academy. Hmmmm, I need to remember to write down the whys, oh well. What should I do now?" He pulls a pen out of his pocket and turns the page to continue writing. He then realizes that he had further instructions for himself there. "The darn bookmark musta moved on me. What do I need to do now? Go inside and register." he thought. "Ok, lets do this. he says determinedly to noone in particular.
He walks up the steps and enters the building. Looking around he notices a receptionist. " Pardon me, could you tell me where I am? -
I thought they had to get wet. I mean eat after midnight before sunrise and then get wet. Am I right or crazy.
