  1. Well, he downloaded everything again and this time it works. I have no idea what the problem was, but I'm happy that he's in. Thanks for the advice everybody!

You seem to have covered both, so we can only assume that he has an NA account, and actually did download the NA version, though it does sound very much like he has the EU version, so he might want to try again anyway. Since most of the files are identical between the clients, all he needs is a new updater file (send him yours) and point it to install into the same directory, and he shouldn't have to redownload anything... (though he may have to "verify files) and with any luck, he'll be able to sign in.
Alas, he went ahead and uninstalled and is now redownloading everything. I've been talking up the game for years, and he just grew very frustrated over the afternoon. The EU thing would be my hunch as well at this point. It could be capslock, but I don't think it is, because at one point I emailed him information for a second trial account and just told him to copy/paste the name and PW into the appropriate fields.

Thanks for all the help, gang. I'll implement these suggestions and let you know how things work out tomorrow.

That thought had occurred to me, but he said he's downloading the NA updater.
  4. I convinced my friend, a longtime buddy burned out on WoW, to try CoH with me. I sent him a trial membership, and he downloaded the client and tried logging in, but got "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect."

I thought he might be entering his Master Account login, so I set up a second trial account and forwarded the information, but he still couldn't do it. I thought it might be a caps lock issue, so I had him copy/paste directly from the email, but still no joy. He sent me the name and login for the information and I was able to login with the account he set up.

Here's the weird thing, though. He's getting "The account name or password that you have entered is incorrect" rather than another error message. I don't think that he's managed to enter the information incorrectly after many different attempts, so I'm wondering if anything else might give that error message.

Well, Seeing as CoV LAUNCHED on Halloween this year, That in itself was a big enough Event to take care of from the Devs point of view. I'm willing to Wager this Holiday season (Barring any MAJOR Launches of a New Game or Issue) we will all be able to gather the badges we all so richly Desire

    [/ QUOTE ]

Cool! Like how the people who missed the Winter Lords in 04 were able to get the winter lord badges this year!

[/ QUOTE ] i guess your talking about COH cause in villian side we couldnt get the winter lords badge cause he never spwans in COV unless your talking about killing 100 (or 200?) of the snowbeast. but thats not the winter lord badge which inturn would mean you dont know what you talking about which in turn would discredit EVERYthing you say :P

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think what he is saying is that there is no precident for the opportunity to get event badges that were missed. Halloween didn't repeat and neither did Winter Lords.

    ok sorry..i was being funny/sarcastic

so lemme say again...if you didnt take the hour* then do you deserve it?...nope!

    anybetter?

Holy Flamebait, Batman. I know I shouldn't bite...but I still have 20 minutes left on my shift, so...

Change that to "evening" and maybe you're getting warmer. And run your posts through a spell checker while you're at it.

Yes, life isn't fair. You've figured that out. But as has been said, we play this game to get away from such things.

Clicking on a present 200 times is alarmingly tedious. Part of the reason that Powerleveling has been curtailed is that the Devs have stated that it is their policy to avoid situations where players see boring, repetitive gameplay as the quickest route to rewards. Clicking on 200 presents is the very definition of boring and repetitive. Yet it was the only route to this reward, and it is no longer available. It was a poor design, and it is a poor decision to unveil this reward so long after the event.
  8. [ QUOTE ]
agreed..you cant spend the 5 mintues geting it..then do you really deserve it?...NOPE!

    [/ QUOTE ]

Charming. But Toy Collector is for opening 200 presents. You must be thinking of the holiday spirit badge.
  9. [ QUOTE ]
I gotta admit though that is sorta shady, adding the gladiator after the badge isn't available anymore.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Yup.
