Quote:I think Manticore's the best bet, too, for a variety of reasons. My money's on Manticore, but I do wish that it would be States.
~He's not really been added to any of the new feature and promotional art, meaning they won't have to re-do it.
~Based on what I've seen of it so far, his one big role in the new story could be fairly easily replaced by his widow after the death happens.
~There's talk about making pretty major changes to various stories actually...Manticore shows up in a few arcs, Sister Psyche doesn't show up in any, furthering the idea that she may replace her husband at various points.
~As the child of the original Manticore, he's a legacy character they could always bring back with a different identity later.
~With Positron and Numina getting set up as the new "official couple" of the Phalanx, one wonders slightly what's supposed to happen to the old "official couple"
~It's an interesting mirror to Sister Psyche's Praetorian counterpart...rather than stealing a spouse, she's the one having hers stolen. -

According to the to-hit numbers that I looked at after that rumor got started, Praetorian Clock work do have an accuracy bonus to their attacks. They're the only ones I could confirm, though. Resistance do get a boost from their bosses, though, and I think the sheer number of attacks that they can crank out compared to other low level enemies is part of what makes their accuracy seem high. You're getting hit more...but that's also because you're getting attacked more.

That is...neat.
Hopefully it really is what it seems to be and won't just end up as "Oops, we didn't really break it. Just a data error." a few months down the line. -
"Pretty good" nothin', my lowbie characters' attacks are noticeably more effective post-i21. Between these and the sewer trial buffs, I've even foregone Yin-Os this time 'round!

I'd imagine it might depend a bit on your server, but my experiences indicate that raids are still conducted on a regular enough basis to get you what you'd want (and the new Underground trial is quite excellent for getting raw material and Incarnate XP), and high level TFs are still run about as often as has been normal (less than right after i19 hit, perhaps, but at least equivalent to i18 and before). And WTFs are likewise remarkably easy to get onto.
I'd recommend checking your server's global channels, and just keeping in mind that there's almost no difference between leading and joining a group as far as Task Forces and Trials are concerned, really. -

Quote:This is pretty reasonable, I think. Not that I expect it by any stretch, and I obviously won't be disappointed if they don't. But it would be a nice gesture. If they had to refund actual money I would think the transaction fees would be through the roof and that wouldn't help anyone who paid by time card.
Paragon Points, or DXP for that matter, doesn't actually cost them any money. If they offered say 200 pts they're not really losing anything.
I think it would:
Restore good faith
Good PR
and possibly increase store sales cause I'm sure there are people who used up all their initial points who still want stuff and while 200 isn't a lot, it's an incentive to buy 400 more to reach 600 which does buy some nifty things in the store.
As always, just my 2inf on the matter -

What a bummer. I assumed since there were two different contacts that pop up for heroes vs. villains, it was more like Cimerora where there are two differently-aligned story arcs, too.
At least I know this now before I start sending my villain characters over to check out the content there. -
Quote:Really? I've been too busy <20 range to play with it, but I thought there was an "evil loyalist" path in First Ward, too.Villains/loyalists have motivation problems with the FW storyline, as it assumes that players want to help people for the sake of helping them, that nobody supports Tyrant, and that everyone's cool with hanging out with the Resistance and their allies, and trying to solve their infighting problems.

I heard from someone else that he was able to get on one of his expired accounts (but not another), so it seems like some sort of trickle has been let in, though it may have been by accident.

Quote:As I understand it, the arcs themselves are what is purchased, not the license to play the arcs. So you'd pay $5 to play this month's arc this month, and next month you could still play it, but not October's arc. You'd have to pay $5 more for that. And you could even pay $5 next month without buying this month's, and you'd be able to play the October one but not the September one.Perhaps when all the arcs will be available... I agree it's not worth $5 on its own. However, when later arcs come out, will the first ones still be available to premiums? Like, if a Premium players waits until 1.7, can he or she then run all arcs 1.1 through 1.7 in one month on one $5? The difference being of course that VIPs get to run them as soon as they come out.
Just thinking out loud here, not sure how the pay per arc will work. -
I just mentioned this in the other topic, but it seems to be a hot subject here, too. When you're dealing with premium content, that should indeed be geared towards 50s. AND towards 20s. AND 35s. AND 10s. The arc is fine for what it is, but if it's going to be something the devs think is worth attaching an extra monetary value for, or worth telling me that it's a super special added bonus to our subscriptions, it's something that a much wider variety of characters should be able to do "comfortably".

Quote:Yeah, like I said, I understand why this arc needed to be in the level range it was. Heck, the second AE story listed in my sig is a 10-15 arc with Igneous in it, so it's not that I see anything wrong with low level content. And hey, don't get me wrong, I thought it was a pretty good arc, if a bit short.Looks more like they are progressing the story along in levels. And using the Minions of Igneous meant they could not go to a higher level. The Minions cap out at level 20. And since the Lost change to Rikti at level 30, even without the Minons they could not have gone higher than 25 or 26.
But there's a difference between "a good arc" and "an arc that's worth paying for", and the latter needs to have broad appeal to a broad range of character types and level ranges. I don't think I'd have a single complaint about the new arc if it wasn't premium content. But because it's something that's being treated as added value (either for free players to purchase, or as a special perk worth paying a subscription for), then it needs to keep high level players and low level players in mind, I think. For what it's worth, an arc for 50s only would be just as bad as one that mandates exemping, in this particular case. -
Quote:When you exemp, your enhancement values are reduced to compensate for the fact that you have more slots in the powers you're using (hypothetically, at least...some builds that may not be the case), and that you have access to more powerful enhancers as well. This can be pretty crippling if, for example, you slotted accuracy to be "sufficient" at your current, high level, you'll find yourself missing a whole lot more often. If you used and were relying Invention sets at a high level to cover certain bases, you may lose those as well. And that's not just when "building for 50". Personally speaking, I tend to start slotting IOs in the late 20s, but exemping down to the level of this month's arc would rob me of any bonuses as well.As a level 50 has access to 24 powers, your really only losing 42% of your powers. Keeping all your slots, and all your enhancement values (which with most sets, is still more then what you would have at level 20) means that your MUCH more powerful then you would've been at level 20.
All that said, I soloed the hero arc on a Defender with DOs, so any complaints about the difficulty can kindly get their heads checked. But that's not to say that the level of reduction exemping causes isn't going to be a justifiably bitter pill for some.
If we're going to complain about something, how about the fact that an arc that one pays for should probably be a little bit more...involved. -
I'd really like to see in the future arcs, more expansion of the level ranges. Sutter gave the Sky Raiders ten more levels, with the powers to match. I realize that, in story, that doesn't work for the Lost, and I can't accept that, but it'd be nice if the consideration were made for the future arcs.

It's not so much that it's too high. In fact, I had at least one experience where it took a good 20 minutes to finish that Arachnos Commander mission because they just flat out weren't spawning.
The problem is more that before i21, the game had some sort of ninja-spawning code, which wouldn't spawn new enemies when there was something hostile right in the neighborhood. Hence, why you wouldn't suddenly have more enemies dropped on you in the middle of a fight. That seems to have been removed, now. -
Broke down and jury-rigged Mids to build myself a Time/Rad/Dark. It is looking to be a delicious little melee/debuff hybrid, on paper anyway.
However, it's hungry for slots like a little fiend. I'm trying to decide between actually using one of the first two attacks, in a chain for single targets involving Air Superiority and Cosmic Burst. It's kinda hard to tell them apart on paper, and I don't have a whole lot of experience with /Rad defenders, so I'm a bit curious what others think.
The build cranks out enough recharge that I shouldn't be stopping to wait on attacks regardless, and by the numbers, Bolt looks a tiny bit better on that front, plus it'd mean an extra one-slot wonder power I'd be able to grab, but I'm wondering if it's little plink damage wouldn't get frustrating.
Any thoughts? -
C'mon, Doc, really? Seriously?
The Aeon I know would be cackling maniacally, in this case. -

Clearly, States has grinded enough raids, yet. No level shifts = getting clobbered by a BCU.
