    (Isn't that a bit random)

    [/ QUOTE ]

OOC: I would have said it sooner, but I'm a little late. This was in response to the whole glass breaking competition and the mallet crushing into the concrete thing. No big worries though.

BIC: Rolling his neck to work out some of the kinks, Chertak pushed open the door to the Coliseum's second bar, the one that catered to the fighters. As per standard proceedure, most of the people in the room, supers or not, went silent as the Rikti boldly strode into the room. Only a few years had passed since the Rikti War and a great many people still harbored resentment to the alien invaders. But Chertak was used to this and merely took things in stride as he made his way to the unofficial alien section of the bar. Caught up in his own thoughts, Chertak walked right past the fighters he would have recognized and pushed aside the steel mesh curtain that seperated off about a third of the large bar.

Stepping inside, Chertak made his way past a few Nictus hosts engaged in a game of dice with some Wailers and sat down at a table with several other Rikti. Ordering up an odd, foaming drink that a few of the other Rikti had, Chertak settled in and started discussing the high and low points of the last battle and various other topics.

OOC: What's this? An NPC with some depth and, gasp, a recurring character? What could the author be planning?
  2. Staff lightly tapping the floor, Archmage Andraxus of the Circle of Thorns strode over to where the newest magical gladiator of the Coliseum was sulking. Free hand absently smoothing his long white beard, Andraxus tapped the other man's foot with his staff.

"Raxiurgiux is it?" Andraxus asked. "I have been told that you fled to the Coliseum in order to gain its protection...and that you are a member of my organization from another dimension. Tell me, rogue mage, how is it that you arrived here and what you will plan to do should whoever is hunting you down finds you?"
  3. OOC: Nice going with disabling the explosives. I would have done it if I had gotten on sooner. Anyway, back to posting.

BIC: "Hello there Agent Immolate," said a man over the intercom. "I see this is your first time in the Coliseum. Just have a seat at the table in front of you and answer some of the questions you see on the monitor. Also, if you could include an explanation for your unusual entrance, I'm sure Security would be very happy to have that."

The questions were standard fare, just like the ones from the earlier examinations.

"And if you have any trouble understanding our language, just let me know and I am avaliable to help."

    **************************************

"Hey! Rock guy and handgun boy!" shouted the bartender to Goro and Rai. "Try not to break too much stuff. All of that comes out of your winnings and if you lose, you owe a debt that you gotta pay off before you can fight again. Got all that? Oh yeah, and is one of you guys named Rai? Cause if you are, you need to go take your examination. The registrar just called to let me know that you hadn't."
  4. OOC: Currently, Podo the sword slinging goblin hero and Becky the regenerating swordswoman scrapper are in the bar. As is the new guy whose name for some reason does not stick in my memory.

BIC: Cursing, the registrar wiped the ink of of himself with a rag he had pulled out of somewhere and muttered.

"God damn, the hot ones are always the craziest."

    ******************************

"Right in here, Ms. Illoy-uhh..." the guard commander stumbled over the alien syllables and eventually gave up with an apolagetic shrug. "Anyway, Miss, just in that door is the testing area. They have some sort of super-powered translator thing in there so they should be able to understand what you say."

Nodding politely to the tanker, the commander turned back down the hallway and went back to his post. The two Cryo Tanks took up positions on either side of the testing room door.
  5. OOC: You guys can control little NPCs like the bartender and stuff. You have half an hour till the next fight so I'm giving you a bit of RP time. And its giving me a chance to spin down a bit. Do you know how hard it is controlling half a dozen different guys with mostly different personalities and having them fight and lose in interesting and exciting ways?

BIC: The guard commander let out his breath in a whoosh and muttered something about always getting the crazy ones under his breath. Thanking the Malta commander for his support, the commander gestured for Agent to walk over to the registration table. He and a pair of Cryo Tanks stuck around to make sure things went smoothly while the rest of the guard squad replaced ceiling tiles and returned to their posts.

"Ok then," said the registrar from behind his desk. "This is the easy part. All I need is for you to write your name down on this new piece of paper. If your name is in runic or heiroglyphic form then just say it out loud to me and I'll write it down for you. After that is done, the commander here will lead you to a room where you will fill out a few more forms and then provide a brief demonstration of your powers and abilities. After all that, you'll be issued an ID card with your rank on it in time for the next fight to begin."

OOC: I really need to give this commander a name.
  6. The barrage of bullets made Eve slam to a halt as it tried to deal with the immense pain of the mercury charged rounds digging into its body. Chunks of weakened flesh were knocked off its body from the regular rounds and Eve was totally unprepared for the dual sword assault. The bullets cut out just as Becky and Podo would have surely been hit. Jumping into the air, Podo stabbed his sword deep into Eve's neck, almost decapitating the beast. Becky's sword dipped in and slashed a deep cut into the main bullet wounds that were clustered on Eve's torso. With an almost pitiful moan, the Lesser Devoured hit the ground and didn't move.

Nodding to himself, Chertak stood and raised his hand into the air.

"Team 2: Conceeds," the Rikti said in order to end the fight without having to get knocked out himself. At those words, his medi-beacon cut in and Chertak was teleported away.

The announcer came on and thanked the heroes and villains for the awesome fight and said that he wished they'd come back again next time. As the announcer continued to blab on about some sponser or another, the torn and battered cityscape slowly dissolved and then dissappeared altogether. There was a soft tinkling and some thumps as spent shell casings and the occasional corpse fell to the now lower ground. The door that the fighters had entered through opened up again and a power suited guard gestured for them to come on through.

"And our next fight will start in thirty minutes! Don't miss it!" shouted the announcer before he finally fell silent.

    ***************************************

The guard shot up from his desk and stared at the leaving hero in shock. Cursing he slammed his fist down on a button on the right side of his desk and shouted for the flaming elf girl to stop where she was. As before when the alarm was triggered, guards in various Crey power suits came rappelling down from the ceiling while a pair of Rikti Gunmen teleported in. Training their guns on Agent Immolate the guard commander stepped forward.

"Hold it, super. We have nothing against you coming here in hopes to fight but if you want in, you have to follow procedure. And in my book, destruction of property has nothing 'proper' to do about it at all. So turn off your flames, register yourself like everyone else, and then we can send you to the testing room," he shouted at Agent.

Gesturing with his head, the commander ordered the two Rikti to teleport in front of the offending hero to keep her from just continuing on. They did this and leveled their repulsor rifles at her.

"The human: Will turn," said one Gunman.

    "Now," added the second.
  7. I found this very amusing thin while persuing the internet. It's this list of questions that you answer using a randomized list of characters that you have created at some point in time. You need to have 12 of them, no more, no less, to do this questionarie. And make sure that you have all 12 written down somewhere before you follow the first link and answer the questions.

Here are the questions and the place where I found the whole thing.

    And here are my results.

Have fun and share what crazy combinations you got. But if you do, be sure to make a link to it so no one else can accidently see the questions if they want to do this. And give a brief description of each character so we have a general idea as to who each one is.
  8. "I'd say that the Coliseum frowns upon abducting paying customers but we also added a small clause onto our contract after you guys came through en masse last time. And I think the bosses have some sort of special deal with you guys, but who cares what I think?"

Several panels opened up in the wall while a chair for each panel rose up from the floor.

"Ok, read over the form that is on the monitor at whichever seat you pick. Sign it then fill out the next couple of forms. Nothing tedious, just things like name, age, who you want notified in case of death, insurance agency, and any powers and/or weapons you'll be using in the Coliseum. The Titans are mostly exempt from that since their specs are in our database but they can still fill out the more informational bit. After all that, just head on over to the targeting range which will open up behind you and show off those weapons or powers that won't blast the room to rubble."
  9. A few seconds passed before an intercom crackled on and a timid sounding man spoke to the Malta.

"Uhh...I really hate to say this but there's too many of you. If you, um, split into two groups things would go much easier. You'll still work on the same team, it's just that twelve Malta operatives kinda transcend our difficulty scale here."
  10. OOC: Ok, sorry this took me so long.

BIC: Screeching in pain, Eve tried to grab the knife out of its spot right behind its head. The Devoured was unable to reach it and quickly forgot about the dagger in its rush to kill. For Eve had spotted Podo and Becky and screeched once more, but this time in anger, not pain. Seeking to destroy all abominations, the Devoured charged the pair of heroes and Chertak.

    *****************************

Chertak wearily looked over at Becky and then nodded his thanks to Podo. Sinking down to sit on a rock, Chertak let his arms hang limp in between his legs as he briefly rested. The Rikti lifted up Johnny's knife and seemed to study it as he spoke to Podo.

"I am grateful: For you assistance and: Your respect," Chertak said to the goblin. "Too many people: Of this world see: My people as monsters: Only to be destroyed: I admit: That their hostility: Is not: Unwarrented: After this: Fight is over I: Would speak with: You more: Defeat Eve and: This fight will end."

Chertak pointed at the charging Devoured and then flipped around the knife so that its grip was facing outward. Holding it like that, Chertak handed it to Podo.

"Here: Take this: An honorable trophy: For an honorable opponent."

    *****************************************

The guard slapped away the commander's hand and matched him glare for glare. After a second of that, the guard regained his composure.

"You guys know the rules. You get tested, you get qualified, you get in. And as far as I know, your special rules are still good. For every super that you take down, they get teleported to your base instead of our hospital. But a warning to you guys: We've beefed up security since that altercation with those thugs and some of your guys. Even though Malta is one of the most powerful organizations around, you won't find the Coliseum that easy to bully anymore. If you've got that, then you can go in."

The guard lowered his hand to his holstered pistol and gave the commander a dirty look.

OOC: You don't need to know what the guard talked about. Just inventing a bit of backstory. But be warned, this guy is serious.
  11. Nothing is ever too long to make fun of someone. I found that list of yours hilarious, did you make it up yourself or did you find it somewhere?
  12. Eve screeched and lifted up its arms to try to grab the gunner and beat him to a pulp. The knife wasn't actually doing much damage as it was, but if Eve let the thug work at it for too long, then the Devoured might be in a bit of trouble.

    ***************************************

No one was more surprised as Chertak was, except maybe Johnny, when the boulder pinning his legs to the ground was suddenly lifted up. Realizing his mistake, the Family thug slammed the boulder back down into the ground but by that time Chertak had already scrambled out from under it. Forgoing a weapon, Chertak jumped atop the boulder that had so recently been the bane of his existence and looked at Johnny. Freaked out by this apparently unkillable Rikti, Johnny hurridly levitated a couple pieces of rubble and hurled them at Chertak. The Warmaster easily leaped over all the projectiles and landed on his feet right next to Johnny. However, due to the damage his legs had sustained, Chertak stumbled a bit when he landed and Johnny took advantage of this oppertunity. Reaching into his suit, Johnny pulled a giant, nasty looking knife out of an inner pocket. Flicking a switch with his finger caused the knife to begin vibrating at super-sonic speeds, generating a loud hum.

"Now you'll find out why they call me 'the Knife', alien scumbag!" Johnny shouted as he stabbed Chertak in the side.

The knife slid through the Rikti's power armor like a hot knife through butter and sunk up to the hilt in Chertak's side. But before Johnny could pull it back out for another stab, Chertak brought his elbow down on Johnny's arm, breaking his hold. Then Chertak headbutted Johnny in the face, knocking the thug to the ground in a daze. Crouching down next to the Family member, Chertak grabbed Johnny's face and lifted it up.

"Now you: Will find out: Why I am: Called Warmaster: Alien scumbag," Chertak said before he slammed Johnny's head against the concrete again and again until the human faded away as his medi-beacon kicked in.

Yanking the knife out of his side, Chertak tried to ignore the searing pain that accompainied each step as he stood up and walked around the remains of the building. Before his own medi-beacon kicked in, the Warmaster would at least see how the rest of the battle had progressed outside of his little duel with the goblin and his feud with Johnny.

OOC: Had to rewrite the whole bloody thing because I accidently closed the web browser just as I finished the first time. Hope that ending was good enough for you, Soviet. I certainly liked it.
  13. Eve was mostly unphased by the ordinance slamming into it. Sure it took quite a few minor wounds and maybe even a major one, but it an extremely powerful regeneration to make such wounds negilible. Dropping the dead Gunner, Eve slowly stalked forward, savoring the moment of potential bloodshed. Behind Eve, the body of the Gunner vanished in a burst of light but the Devoured paid that no mind. Kicking off, Eve jumped into the air and came down on the Buckshot.

    **********************************

Cursing loudly and at length, Chertak began sprinting away from the falling building. The shortest path out of the rapidly growing shadow was off to the side but Johnny was in front of Chertak. Snarling, he choose the better chance at life and made his dash. He almost made it out. The building came down and Chertak managed to escape the majority of the structure, but a large chunk of concrete had broken off as the building fell and caught Chertak right on his legs. The Rikti toppled, his legs pinned by the boulder and his rifle knocked away during his fall. The only highlight of his current situation was that at least that gravity controlling human couldn't see him.
  14. Roaring in pain, Adam spun around to crush the pesky abominations that were filling its back with lead. The Devoured didn't even see Becky charging it into it was too late. Becky's sword slid smoothly through Adam's throat and out the other side. One hand jerking up to grab the hero's arm in a death grip, Adam gurgled once more and then slumped to the ground.

    *********************************

Chertak cursed as he saw an entire building moving towards him through a hole in the wall that had been trying to crush him. If the humans had had power like this when his people had invaded, the Rikti would have been much worse off. Chertak would have rather had the humans never invent such technology, otherwise this wouldn't be happening to him right now. Putting his thoughts aside for later, Chertak kicked at the hole that he could see the building approaching from at managed to make it wide enough for him to slip through. Reorienting himself, Chertak dashed around the corner of the pair of smushed walls and took a bead on Johnny.

Stepping quickly to keep ahead of the building behind him and ready to dodge at a moments notice, Chertak started shooting at the Consigliere as fast as his rifle would cycle.
  15. Roaring in victory, Eve threw the Gunner with the knife at the backpedaling Buckshot. Then Eve grabbed the second Gunner and started bending him in two. If the guy couldn't get out of the hold he'd be snapped like a twig.
  16. [ QUOTE ]
((I think he gave her a short *Bow* as in gesture.))

    [/ QUOTE ]

OOC: Ssshhhhh, don't ruin the surprise.

BIC: Driving itself onto the blade, Adam reached forward and grabbed Podo's head. Squeezing, the mutated human attempted to pop the goblin's head like a melon.
  17. OOC: A bow? Meh, whatever.

BIC: Adam shrieked and took both plasma shot and arrow right in the chest. The Devoured clapped one hand over the gaping hole in its chest as though pained but it kept moving toward Podo. Lumbering around a car, Adam saw the goblin and yet another abomination. Shrieking again, though this time in anger, Adam lunged forward and tried to flatten them both at once.
  18. "AAaboOomMinaTIIiOn!" Adam shot back. "YyOouUU shaAlL bbEe PUurgGED!"

Planting its feet in the ground, Adam rapidly shot out a burst of acid followed by a Swarm. Both projectiles shot at Podo.
  19. Enraged at the abomination's attempt to escape, Adam threw itself into the air and landed in front of Becky. It threw its arms wide to block her path and roared.

"YyyoooOOuUU ssHaaALl NOT esscAApeE AlLiiVeeE!!!" it gurgled as brought both hands in to squish Becky like a bug.

    **********************************

Lying on the ground, Eve whipped its arms out and grabbed onto the legs of the thugs in front of it. Pulling back, Eve pulled the thugs off their feet. Then the Lesser Devoured got to its feet and started to use the pair of thugs as clubs against the Buckshot.

    ********************************

Hearing the sound of crashing rocks and debris coming from in front of him, Chertak knew that his deception had failed and that his target knew he was coming. Thinking to himself, the Warmaster slung the rifle across his back and dug his fingers into the wall before him. With his strength enhanced by his power suit, Chertak managed to quickly scale the building and pulled himself through a window to see the human staring at him in shock. Knowing that he had but a moment to act, Chertak dove to the side, drawing his rifle. He came up in a crouch, fired, and then ducked behind a wall.
  20. Chertak nimbly dodged the thrown chunks of rocks and slowly made his way to the body of the Gunman that had been slain at the beginning of the fight. Jumping to the side to avoid a lamp post, Chertak snatched up the repulsor rifle and lifted it up with a smirk on his face. Then the beam hit him and he tumbled head over heels into a wall. Groaning, Chertak shoved a rock off of his chest and checked the rifle, it was still operational. Moving deeper into the building into which he had been knocked, Chertak began making his way toward Johnny from what he hoped was the rear.

OOC: Adam on Becky and Eve on the thugs. Guess Podo'll have to wait a bit.
  21. OOC: *cough, cough* You can read back. Besisdes, the fight's almost over anyway.

BIC: Eve staggered back and screeched as the bullets tore at its flesh. Grabbing a rock, Eve threw it at one of the gunners and then charged.

    *****************************

Chertak looked at the goblin, uncomprehension written plainly upon his face. But then understanding hit the Rikti and he relaxed from his tensed combat posture. Chertak lowered the rebar and looked about to say something when Johnny dropped the support beam on him. Luckily, Chertak managed to notice the heavy object about to fall on him and dove forward. The beam hit the ground and knocked dust and smaller debris all over the place. Throwing the rebar to the ground, Chertak looked over at Podo and raised his fists.

"One last: Contest. Then I: Shall yield," he said.
  22. OOC: Let's just consider this revenge for the Dragonball Z-ness of Coldfire and Charcold. But I'll try to keep my rage in check and let you kill the Rikti at one point.

BIC: Chertak's eyes widened as he saw the grenade sailing through the air toward him. Acting quickly, the Warmaster grabbed his sword and held it in front of his face. The grenade landed a foot or two away from the Rikti and sent him on a one way trip to a pile of rubble. But since most of the blast was deflected by his armor and his face was protected by his sword, Chertak was saved from any greivous wounds. But his sword was ruined and Chertak cast it away in disgust. Weaponless now, Chertak grabbed a long rebar with his unwounded hand and leapt to his feet. Grabbing a rock with his other hand, he hurled it at Podo in order to get the goblin's attention.

The Gunman gurgled as the sword cut through his hand and into his armor's neck seal. With only a second left to live, the Gunman took one last action against the race he had sworn to destroy. He teleported right in front of the onrushing Adam and Eve. Then Becky's broadsword cut through his throat and yet another Rikti left this plane of existence.

The pair of Lesser Devoured, surprised by this event, were a bit slow to react to Becky's appearance. But they recovered and each lobbed a globbet of acid at the scrapper. The two Swarms sped on, their hunt for Atomic Firecracker leading them into a bombed out building.

The Mentalist, flush from its victory over the pair of humans, raised its hands up and pumped them several times. Then the Rikti staggered as the gravity around it shifted and seemed to rotate. The Mentalist screamed in fear as the ceiling came rushing up at it and it struck out blindly with its mind at its aggressor. Then it hit the ceiling with a crunch and began its slow descent downwards before its medi-beacon activated and it faded away.
  23. The concrete and pieces of machinary slammed into Titan AE's chasis, knocking it back a few steps. But by this time the Titan had recalibrated its targeting system and refocused on the dimmly seen form of Johnny. Laboriously lifting up its plasma cannon, Titan AE charged and fired, aiming straight for Johnny. But then, an instant after the cannon fired, Atomic's EMP charge went off and the Titan started jerking and shuddering as its electronics misfired and myomer muscle clumps fired spontainiously. With a shuddering groan, the Titan teetered back and forth of its feet but seemed about to keep its feet when one last chunk of road slammed into it, knocking the devastated machine down onto the ground. Arcs of electricity scittered over its head and its limbs went limp as Titan AE shut down.

    *********************************

Grunting in surprise, the Gunman reached up and grabbed Becky's sword in his hand. The sword began cutting through his gauntlet, but at least it wasn't his throat. The the pair of Family charged, spraying bullets at him and the Gunman got a brilliant idea. Leaning forward, the Gunman rotated and tried to get Becky between him and the continuing barrage of bullets. One round managed to penetrate and dug into the Gunman's side but he ignored the pain and carried forth with his plan.

Scowling at his ineffectual mental attacks, the Mentalist decided to shift targets. Spotting the charge of the Family, the Mentalist grinned to himself and levitated a nearby shopping cart and hurling it at the pair of gunmen.

    *****************************

Adama and Eve let out identical screeches of outrage as they saw that Atomic had escaped. As one, the two Lesser Devoured turned and began loping back toward the main battle. A pair of Swarms issued from their mouths and leapt forward. None of the Devouring Earth would make it in time to affect the current fight, but they'd get there quickly.
  24. Scowling, the Mentalist put forth a tremendous effort and telekinetically pulled Becky off of the Titan and onto the ground. Hands pressed to his temples, the Rikti concentrated and held Becky to the ground. The Gunman, knowing what the Mentalist was doing, teleported in front of the prone Becky and shoved his rifle right next to her head.

"Regenerate this: Human," it said as it fired.

OOC: I have utter confidence that you'll find your way out of this. Also, I'll post what happens to Titan AE and the others after I talk to ARRR.
  25. OOC: Doesn't the big atomic blast you just did also drain your endurance for a bit, thus rendering you unable to use your EMP pulse?
