((I know, breaking the rules, but I was working on the prelude to this scene, so another one
Again, feel free to play on The Cape. Terra is originally from Praetorian Earth (read Through a Mirror Darkly), this is shortly after her first portal mission, which triggered her lost memories. If you don't know the song...well, one your are a poor deprived person, but I'll tell you at the bottom))
Came in from a rainy Thursday
On the avenue
Thought I heard you talking softly
Terra sat heavily in the generic plastic chair, soaked through. No one was home at the Order's HQ to see her, and for that she was grateful. Images haunted her vision, and voices just far enough away to not hear clearly echoed in the silence.
I turned on the lights, the TV
And the radio
Still I can't escape the ghost of you
The bright flourescents of the common room lit up every corner, and the surround speakers filled the room with the latest pop hit, but names and faces still invaded her mind.
What has happened to it all?
Crazy, some are saying
Where is the life that I recognize?
Gone away
Tears fell down her face, and the central air's currents chilled her in her wet clothes, but she hardly noticed. Snapshots of moments in time etched themselves in her mind, one after another, of there, and here.
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Aisu's words felt hollow even though they were true. She couldn't do anything for them anymore, but she could do things here. But so much was different now. She'd tried to explain, but she knew they hadn't understood. How to you explain to somewhat that what they say is red you see as blue.
Passion or coincidence
Once prompted you to say
"Pride will tear us both apart"
Well now pride's gone out the window
Cross the rooftops
Run away
Left me in the vacuum of my heart
And Heather. She stood there, not understanding, looking up to her. This Heather didn't know, this Heather wasn't the one who rescued her, the one who meant more to her than anything and had sacrificed herself for the cause. But she was still Heather, and it hurt so much to see her.
What is happening to me?
Crazy, some'd say
Where is my friend when I need you most?
Gone away
Helplessness was not something Terra knew how to deal with. Knowing, remembering, who the Order had been, standing there in that one way realization, past and present crashing together, and knowing none of them understood, that she was alone. It hurt, and there was nothing she could do.
But I won't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
She had to let it go. This wasn't her home, they weren't the people she had known, and the ones she left behind were beyond her forever. She was making a place for herself here, people trusted her. But if they knew who she was...did she have any right to be trusted?
Papers in the roadside
Tell of suffering and greed
Here today, forgot tomorrow
Ooh, here besides the news
Of holy war and holy need
Ours is just a little sorrowed talk
The Evening News cut in from the TV, talk of the Terra Volta Reactor being saved made her pause. More reports of allegations against Crey, and a story about some reclaimation of Venice. She tried to ignore it, but the next story caused her pause.
"Portal Corporation honored several heroes earlier today after an incident in one of their labs was handled quickly and efficently. Several employees expressed their heartfelt thanks for the dedication and selflessness these heroes displayed, as well as letters of thanks brought back from the world on the other side of the portal."
And I don't cry for yesterday
There's an ordinary world
Somehow I have to find
And as I try to make my way
To the ordinary world
I will learn to survive
Terra fingered the commendation from Portal Corp. They had saved the people of that world, they would be safe. They had saved the Portal Corp employees, too. That it triggered her memories...that she remembered... She wanted to believe ignorance was bliss, but with all the bad, there was good, too. Heather was alive, Vicky and Kris were not involved. Her family, well they weren't really her family, were they? She'd never been born here. But in another place and time, she'd called him brother and he meant the world to her, not that he needed to know.
No, they weren't the people she'd loved and lost, but they were the people they could have been, and they were worth protecting. Heroes from this world had tried to save hers, she couldn't go back but she could return the favor and protect what was dear to the heroes who had died fighting there. She shut off the TV, the radio, and the lights, and headed upstairs to change clothes, dialing a familiar number on her phone.
"It's TA, got anything that needs doing? I'm itching for a fight."
Every one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world, I will learn to survive
Any one
Is my world
Every one
Is my world

((Wyld has more songs for moments in time rather than a theme song, so we're going back to the Rikti War and a little town in the country. The song is Outer Space by Freezepop, feel free to play it on The Cape

alone in the moonlight
heading for nowhere
gone is the solar glare
don't follow me here tonight
Jamie slipped out the bedroom window, being as quiet as possible to not wake her twin sleeping a few feet away. The soldiers had gone to bed, and she had waited for this moment. Crawling up the hill, the creaking of the old windmills and the hum of the new wind collectors were the only sounds. Below the ridge an army spread out, there to protect the Falls from aliens people said. Tanks and guns and fascinating electronics...she wanted to know more. There was nothing like it in this little town, and she'd spent every day in the camp asking questions, learning, and they were leaving in the morning.
run away, far away, run away, fly away
Ms. Gina had glared at her for asking about guns at school, Mr. Waltham had a talk with her parents that they didn't know she had heard. Your kids aren't normal, and on top of all this alien nonsense, we don't need them poking around where someone might notice. I suggest you keep them in line. She tightened her grip on her backpack and moved down the hill.
needing to find my place
something just feels wrong
knowing I dont belong
escaping to outer space
"H-hey, Captain Tristam..." Jae stood awkwardly in the light on the small lantern, the army captain looking up from some paperwork.
"Why hello Ms. Smith, what are you doing out at this hour?"
"What's it like in Paragon?"
"Eh? Well...its busy, you meet all sorts of people, all sorts of heroes too.."
"People like me?"
"People like...? Oh! Well I can't say as I have met anyone quite like you, but yeah, people can do all sorts of things, make ice out of thin air, fly, call storms...why do you ask?"
"I..."
run away
"I don't want to stay..."
far away
"I'm legally an adult..."
run away
"Can I come with you?"
fly away
He set his pen down and looked at the barely 18 girl. A pyrokinetic, a powerful one, he had seen what she could do, plus a natural for working with technology. She'd watched twice and could disassemble and reassemble an M16 better than half his crew. He'd also seen how the close-knit community treated her, shunned her as a freak.
"Ms. Jamie...as a military officer I can't transport civilians whether they are of age or not-" Jamie's heart sank, but he shook his head. "but as a soldier of this unit, I can tell you that the transport crew won't check the supply crates, and its a pressurized bay." Jamie flung her arms around him, tears welling in her eyes. "Thank you..." He detached her gently, the situation very awkward.
unafraid
every mile you fade
The transport truck was anything but comfortable, but she watched through a crack as home faded away in the dawn, wondering what her parents would say when they found out, wondering how her sister would react, they'd never been apart before.
there are no delays
She was woken from a light sleep by the crate being loaded into a plane. She'd seen them before, but never been in one. Panic creeped up in her and a small voice in her head said "you could back out now". She closed her eyes and shook her head no.
I wont look back, I wont look back, I wont look back, I wont look back
run away, far away
run away, fly away
The cargo plane took off from the airfield, the runway just barely long enough. the feeling of unknown pressure was nearly terrifying, she waited for something to explode or shake apart, but the roar of the engines only reached a peak and suddenly the pressure was gone. She popped the latch she'd rigged on the inside of the crate, standing up and looking around in the hold.
its oh so quiet here
caught in the milkyway
bound by the cosmic ray
i could just disappear
No one seemed to notice she was here, the plane seemed empty of passengers except for her. A door opened and she jumped. James Tristam chuckled at her standing in the hold. "I'm not even gonna ask how you manged to get out. Would you like a more comfortable seat?" Holding his hand out, he waited for her to walk over, and escorted her onto the flight deck.
time will slow
no more earth below
The view was like nothing she'd ever seen. An expanse of sky ahead, the ground so far below them that fields looked like tiny stamps. Communications, radar, controls, the machine itself was overwhelming. She sat heavily into a seat. "Nervous?" the pilot grinned at her.
another day to go
"No...no this is awesome!"
I wont look back, I wont look back, I wont look back, I wont look back
run away, far away
run away, fly away
The flight passed in excited fascination of everything for her, the crew seemed genuinely amused by her questions and wonder. Time passed too quickly for Jamie, and all too soon, they touched down on the runway at Paragon International.
"Last stop, Paragon City, everyone off." the pilot joked as Jamie deboarded. Standing on the tarmac, Jae's mouth hung open at the sight of the city before her, the War Walls rising up in the distance. "It's huge!" The captain chuckled and guided her through the hangers to a jeep. "Richardson will take you to the bus terminal in the airport. Take Route 12 down to City Hall, register as a hero, they'll get you taken care of." Jamie blinked at him "But I'm not a hero." He ruffled her hair and pushed her into the jeep. "I'd say you are, now get going before you get us both in trouble." She nodded and waved as the jeep headed across the airfield.
alone in the moonlight
heading for nowhere
gone is the solar glare
Jamie stared at the brand new liscense as she rode the tram line. 'Wyld Fyre - Registered Hero". The whole day seemed so unreal. Right now, she should be at home washing the dishes.
don't follow me here tonight
Right now Katie was probably wondering why she left without telling her.
don't follow me here tonight
But right now she was getting off the tram in Paragon City, and walking up the front stairs of a huge building, where a room was waiting for her, and people wanted to see her powers.
don't follow me here tonight
She almost turned to look west, but paused, staring at the doors of Heroes, Inc. instead. "No, I won't look back." -
He looked again at the scrap of paper in his hand, matching it to the faded black lettering of the building. The alleyway was dark and quiet. Throwing a questioning look behind him, he waved the others forward. Turning on a flashlight, he heald it steady as another stepped forward with a crowbar. Getting a nod from their leader, he set to work, the sound of metal against metal muffled as best as they could manage.
The lock gave out with a groan, letting the door swing open. Hurrying through, a deep rumbling could be heard inside. "Hey, thought you said no one would be here?" A fist cuffed the speaker. "Its a factory, its just the machines."
-------------------
The bass was more than sound, it was life, a heartbeat more felt than heard, overriding self to the point of hypnosis. Chords built on its foundation, weaving through the crowd like thread, binding them together into a trance no drug could duplicate. Waves of sound crashed against each other, an inescapable tide. The room reverberated with the heightened energy infused into the crowd by the DJ.
"Hey!"
Echo looked up, his spun sounds hijacked by the man in a uniform. The music stopped. A shot rang out, and people froze. A phantom bassline kicked in Jae's ears as she turned towards the group of Council, her induced hyper-sensitivity connecting her to 4 other people, other heroes.
"Who invited you losers?"
Jae grinned, springing into action, the music still in her head. Echo switched tracks. Bass and energy, drums and fire, the bpm drove the fight, the music reigning over all. In the lights and the rhythm, the Council went down hard, 5 strangers working flawlessly as a team slowly realizing that no one else was seeing the fight. Civilians danced in the same trance they themselves had been caught up in moments ago. A subtle change in the mix and the connection to the other 4 heroes was broken. Jae's eyes met those of the egmatic DJ Echo and he winked, laying down a fresh set of tracks that caught her up in the energy of the rave, the fight all but forgotten.

I don't know hardly anyone's characters, but a complement anyways that I'd gladly RP with anyone whose posted if I had the time
-
(heh, ICly cause its fun)
Ha! The system does indeed serve a purpose, for who better to direct your enemies towards than some loyal lackey who lacks the most basic of protection, thinking his patron and his fellow conspirators regard him as something more than a convient scapegoat to throw at those who get too close?
I know where I stand, but there is strength in numbers. Do not presume I won't throw you to the wolves if it suits me, but you might find I am the right partner for a mutual aim, and I'm sure I will find those in power who I can come to an agreement with until our goals conflict.

((Hey, I'd sign the Tech/Magic petiton if you'll sign the Mutant/Tech one

Being hit on can be the best fun though, when my main was much lower and getting hit on much more often, I'd reply in character, in which she's 'so not interested' because she has her sights set on another character in the SG, so there would be many responses like "You're just, you know, not tall enough."
That confused the hell out of people -
Eh, we quasi-RP a bit in the SG, but its more fun just to read the bios though, little tidbits of the whole drama unfold if you see enough of us and read all the bios.

Wyld Fyre is simply the first non taken spelling of Wildfire, who is a fairly faithful recreation of Jamie Smith, pyrokinetic commune girl and tech whiz who got pulled into a messy incident of a Dark Conspiracy game, one of the first RPGs I ever played. Technically should have been Fire/Devices, but I kept feeling guilty with that build's munchyness, so she became Fire/Energy
.Winternight is somewhat of an inside joke, Winternight is my local server and the character started as simply a mockup of an avatar for it.
Hmm...trying to think if anyone else is interesting...
Kagehoushi - Watch Flame of Recca
Cat5 - Essentially trying to design a Angelic Layer style angel, I hit upon the bad joke, though after several costume revisions, she doesn't even have the cat ears anymore -
I was going to post an insightful response until I realized somehow my half and half mix has shifted to all females. Ah well, go Global Chat, 72 more characters slots to spend hours filling...
